Mars Ulrich 05-15-2005 01:38 PM
depends on era of metallica you are talking about Kill 'em all-And justice, Black-Reload, or St. Anger. There are very good songs from each era (exept St. Anger IMO) and each song from the different eras are very different.
how is everyone missing out the mighty ride the lightning (album)? IMO fwtbt has to be up there with Metallica's best songs.

Mars Ulrich 05-15-2005 01:40 PM
I saw them with Godsmack (who I hate) but at least they put on a pretty decent show.
VR kikass, but i think the best eva concert line up wud b iron maiden and metallica (playing old stuff coz the new is nowhere near as good)...that wud b awsome!!! comments anyone?

That was ages ago though.
Oh boy has this been done before.

Here's a topic, who would be an ideal opening band for Metallica? Keep it realistic though. My vote goes to Iced Earth.
Iced Earth?

I would except Iced Earth to open for a band like maiden more than metallica. Would be cool if they did though.

I wouldn't mind seeing Soad open for metallica.

FlyingPaul_83 05-15-2005 02:38 PM

Anthrax or Slayer

dethmetalhead 05-15-2005 03:04 PM

dethmetalhead

some other kick *** metallica songs are:

seek and destroy
blackened
the god that failed
harvester of sorrow
for whom the bell tolls
to live is to die
That was ages ago though.
It doesn't matter how old the song is. It is obvious that good albums, like ride the lightning, stand the test of time

That's what I meant...that quote he posted came from a long time ago.

Welcome to the forums by the way.

First of all, don't double post. Second, punctuation is good, as is spelling and correct sentence structure.

Battery's not hard, there are good tabs at mxtabs which as far as I can tell are very accurate.

A new Metallica album will probably come around next year, and all bets are off on what it will sound like.

I actually had a dream a few weeks ago that at the Velvet Revolver concert that i'm going to next weekend that they'd have a surprise guest that would turn out to be Metallica... but anyways I think Velvet Revolver would be a cool opener
does anyone no wen a new metallica cd with new songs is coming out it had better be like master of puppets but scince hetfield blew his voice on black album its probly going2 sound like a mix of iron maiden and nirvana like st anger lol.
it better be better than IM or Nirvana. Metallica can't go grunge and the IM singer gets to me after awhile... and it won't be out until '06 or '07. I know you're new, but please try actually typing rather than typing like it's AIM or something. and by the way, welcome to MX
yeah i no but it dosent seem lke it follows the guitar. do you no how 2 play it on bass cuz i need help not just encouregment and or sympythy.
i think bass would be hard just because they were talking about how rob did it so much better than jason and he did a good job... but i haven't tried battery. once again, please type a little more normal, thanks.

Kickflip_Burrito 05-15-2005 05:41 PM

Battery is not the easiest of Tallica songs on bass.

And in response to 'Who would make a good open act for Metallica', I would have to say CKY and Corrosion Of Conformity. Are COC still going? I think they are but feel free to enlighten me if I'm wrong.

I am the Master of Puppets 05-15-2005 07:45 PM

Does anybody know where to find a pic of Master of Puppets that fit the dimensions?

To the thing about who should open for Metallica:

TESTAMENT

The bands are a lot alike, and they both kick huge amounts of ***. If any of you 'Tallica fans haven't checked out Testament yet, do so ASAP.

Thanks, I'll check em out :thumb:

Deth 05-16-2005 08:28 AM

Testament would also be very cool. Metallica don't seem very good at finding opening bands.

fatbandit 05-16-2005 08:42 AM

About the guy wanting to play Battery - break it down into smaller sections, and learn them, then string them together. Also, if you don't use 3 fingers on your plucking hand, it can be quite a workout :)

However, seeing as posting is boring apparently, you'll never see this, or be able to ask me more about specific bits you need help with...

The Metallica FA written by Jason is a brilliant read. I highly recommend you all go read it :thumb:

Metallica should open for Testament; because they are far far far better.

Testament might open for megadeth on there new tour along with children of bodom.

Read it, nothing new, good read though.

Testament would be a good opener, yes, but Anthrax would be better IMO.

EDIT: to LarsAgi007 --- have you blocked me on MSN?

fatbandit 05-16-2005 12:01 PM

Someone who won't take Metallica's spotlight would be an ideal opener. Some of this new Metalcore stuff could be quite cool. Or maybe someone like Mudvayne?

metalcritter666 05-16-2005 12:44 PM
Someone who won't take Metallica's spotlight would be an ideal opener. Some of this new Metalcore stuff could be quite cool. Or maybe someone like Mudvayne?
No, no and no. Well maybe KSE, but I think Metallica should have thrash bands opening for them. And Mudvayne opened for them on the Sanitarium Tour 2003 along with a bunch of nu-metal bands.

fatbandit 05-16-2005 02:31 PM

I see no reason to have to have pure thrash bands open for Metallica. Metallica isn't even a thrash band anymore (About half the set or less is going to be from their old school days, yes?). Metalcore is popular at the moment, which would create a crowd pull. Just my view.

To be honest, I don't hugely like Mudvayne, I just love watching Ryan's playing on their videos! :P

They pretty much sell out whereever they go, they don't need to draw any more crowds. Plus, they only play like 3 or 4 newer songs, the majority of a Metallica concert is the thrashier stuff.

MAthiAS 05-16-2005 02:37 PM
Metallica should open for Testament; because they are far far far better.
Yes, really. I'd hate to see Testament or Anthrax have the shame of opening for Metallica. And I'd hate to have to pay $55 to see them.

Jev 05-16-2005 02:38 PM

Metallica really don't need a support act, they're so huge. I think they should do a solo tour and extend their playing time for another hour.

Huber 05-16-2005 02:40 PM
Yes, really. I'd hate to see Testament or Anthrax have the shame of opening for Metallica. And I'd hate to have to pay $55 to see them.
Unnecessary...

Anyways, big deal. Someone is going first, the other second. They're still both there, and you're still going to get an awesome show.

Deth 05-16-2005 02:49 PM

It's just kind of customary to have an opening band. I would rather see Metallica play 3 and a half hours a night, but it's not happening.

What about cunning stunts, they had no opening act did they?

FlyingPaul_83 05-16-2005 03:12 PM

I don't think so.

metalcritter666 05-16-2005 03:15 PM

Where are Metallica touring now if they're even touring at all?

RustedPieces 05-16-2005 03:22 PM
Where are Metallica touring now if they're even touring at all?
They're not touring right now. They're on vacation then they're going to start recording sometime in 2006.

FlyingPaul_83 05-16-2005 03:44 PM

I suggest everyone go read heavyriva's article on metallica.
It's good stuff, very informative.(although i knew most of the stuff)

VicRattlehead99 05-16-2005 03:49 PM

Can you put a link to it or at least where to go.
