Its like, you start by claiming territories on a map of the world. Then, every turn, you get reinforcements based on territories you control and some other factors, like bonuses from controlling whole continents and turning in cards you get from taking over a territory. Then you attack territories, which is as simple as rolling a few dice and comparing them to the defending territories (you match up the 2 highest from each players rolls. This makes it so an attacker can lose forces too). Then you fortify your borders by moving forces you already have around the map.

Basially, you try to take over the world. Its simple after you actually start playing it. theres a few variations though, like Mission risk (where you get an oblective, like destroying another color army, or controlling 3 continents), and Risk with 2 players has slightly different rules as well.

Matt: NEVER use the ignore feature, it just make it so you can read his posts, which is just stupid. I say just try your best to get over it.

Haha, some guy before said the most hardcore Risk game ever would be that instead of just rolling dice to invdae a country, you had to play a game of stratego to tak it over. It would make a 4 hour game into a 4 year game.

It's like you have your own army of pieces with different numbers on them and you place them so only you can see them and the other person can't. Then you have a flag. And the objective is to move pieces and find the flag. And you move spaces on the board and let say I have a piece with a 5 on it and I move him into a square with an oppents piece but his piece is a 6. I have to discard mine. I'm pretty sure thats the right way to play.
