Its all the same really.. They are 100% definatly starting recording their next album January 06 :upset:
They have some song ideas written down...

I have a source that speaks regulary with Lars Ulrich!! His name is Jaymez (Nickname anyways.. His real name is Tiernan, I think I spelt it right, and hes from Beatallica.. The lead singer
Les Claypool offered to join Metallica? I never knew that...their sound with him in the band would be so different than anything so far, I'm willing to bet. He's definitely far more inventive than most bassists out there, although how that would go with Metallica's music to date might not be so good. I'd like to see it though, just to see if they could reinvent themselves successfully after some really mediocre albums. If anyone could help do it, Claypool would be near the top of the list...
wow you haven't posted here in how many years?

Yea, they tried out Claypool and a couple of other pretty good bassists. Check out SKOM, it goes thru their tryouts

metalcritter666 05-14-2005 05:22 PM

I thought they'd be starting it earlier. I bet were going to wait for ages for it to come out now.

Yes, I agree the wait is a pain in the ***, But hopefully, It will all be worth the wait, Rob has already proven he is worthy of some good material!

Sandtrap 05-14-2005 05:40 PM

but will rob help write the songs or will hetfeild and ulrich kinda take over again?

metalcritter666 05-14-2005 05:42 PM
but will rob help write the songs or will hetfeild and ulrich kinda take over again?
Well James and Lars always write the songs often with Kirk and/or whichever bassist and the whole band partook on St. Anger, I personally think Robzilla will write some stuff on this album.

Rob already said that him and metallica already have a lot of material for the next album, maybe is gonna be a double disc album.

That would be so awesome...I think Puppets/Lightning were let down by the fact that there were only 8 songs on them.

Leper 05-14-2005 06:33 PM

heavy metal kid 05-14-2005 06:35 PM

none of the first four metallica albums have a crappy song.
Yes! I thought it was that...

I haven't been on in days... I'll work on a review
Thanks man
They did choose rob over claypool yes.

When Newsted quit Claypool offered to join Metallica because he is one of Kirk's best friends. They said no most likely because he is too good for them.
I think I read somewhere that when Cliff died Claypool asked if he could join, but one of the guys basically said "You're way too good for us", but I dunno, maybe I was just trpping.

vashts80 05-14-2005 09:05 PM

Yeah, it was either right after Cliff died or during the tryouts for Cliff's replacement that Claypool offered to join and they said basically that he was too good for them.

heavy metal kid 05-14-2005 09:15 PM

maybe Metallica dont wanted to get a better bassist than Burton

6stringslinger 05-14-2005 10:32 PM

Not trying to drift off the subject

Has anybody seen the video clip of Rob Trujillo snowboarding on the bonus DVD that comes with SKOM...He looked as if he had been doing it for sometime!!

Joe 05-14-2005 11:43 PM
does gocaps still come here?
Squirrel 05-15-2005 05:27 AM

how the hell do you guys have anything worth talking about anymore

metalcritter666 05-15-2005 08:25 AM
how the hell do you guys have anything worth talking about anymore
What do you mean?

Jev 05-15-2005 08:33 AM

I think he means we keep talking about the same things over and over, like is st anger good or bad, who played bass ect.

Mazeppa 05-15-2005 08:34 AM
What do you mean?
I think he's wondering how the thread got so big, and keeps getting bigger.

They don't :)

metalcritter666 05-15-2005 09:48 AM
I think he means we keep talking about the same things over and over, like is st anger good or bad, who played bass ect.
He's got a point actually. We need to think of a new topic.

CemetaryGates9 05-15-2005 12:18 PM

ok. New topic. This has probably been done before, but put the Metallica albums in order of favoritism.

Joe 05-15-2005 12:21 PM
They don't :)
/spam. lol

well that's why we should keep going on with Chu's idea, you know, review a song. I'm supposed to be doing a Battery review... but in the meantime someone can do somethin else

Deth 05-15-2005 12:52 PM
ok. New topic. This has probably been done before, but put the Metallica albums in order of favoritism.
Oh boy has this been done before.

Here's a topic, who would be an ideal opening band for Metallica? Keep it realistic though. My vote goes to Iced Earth.

CemetaryGates9 05-15-2005 12:54 PM

ANthrax. Velvet Revovler. Shadows FAll.

lilmetallica 05-15-2005 01:19 PM

It would be weird if echobrain opened up for them but i doubt thats gunna happened  but a serious answer might be velvet revolver or maybe megadeth(never gunna happened though  )

Deth 05-15-2005 01:20 PM

I don't think the fans would be too happy with VR. I wouldn't be anyway. Anthrax would be amazing though.

metalcritter666 05-15-2005 01:27 PM

Exodus/Heathen, please not any more nu-metal bands.

Deth 05-15-2005 01:31 PM

I saw them with Godsmack (who I hate) but at least they put on a pretty decent show.
