Yeah, they do go to larger places in order to fit the stage show in.
It would be interesting to see them at a smaller gig though.
They've played a place called The Square not too far from me. It's tiny and the capacity is 250. The stage must be 9ft wide. I was too young to be able to get in though :(

Lord Abortion 03-02-2006 11:19 AM
I reckon they could sell out the big footy stadium we've got in Hull, and that's like 60 000 people....
The KC?

Josh 03-02-2006 12:50 PM
How big is that place?
fits about 25,000 in when full, some seated some standing. the acoustics could be better, but it's ok when you're near the front. also, the huge amps are high up, so you don't get too badly deafened.

25'000!? Christ that's way more people than the other arenas. Except maybe the NEC.

i could very possibly be wrong. it's a hockey arena though, they just put boards over the ice, so there's a lot of seats, they just don't sell all the seated tickets and sell a load of standing ones instead.

EDIT:
Welcome to Metro Radio Arena Newcastle, a 11,250+ capacity, purpose-built indoor entertainment venue, located on the Banks of the Tyne.
looks like i just doubled up, oops. still a fairly big venue though. explains why metallica played there on their last full UK tour as well.

That's still reasonably bigger than the other arenas. I didn't know Newcastle was such a big city.

newcastle itself isn't, but all the other towns around it are joined onto it now, so it covers a huge area. i live 35 miles away, it's the nearest major venue, so they get a lot of people from anywhere upto 50 miles away i think.

SimonCore 03-02-2006 02:08 PM

^ living in MidWales the nearest venues are at Birmingham, Cardiff or Wolverhampton. I don't go any further than Manchester.

i think Ollie travelled to Manchester to see Cradle Of Filth, and he goes to Glasgow sometimes for gigs as well, for bands that don't play any nearer Newcastle.

The nearest major venue to me would be in Glasgow which is around 30-40 miles away. Apparently Maiden have played in a place in my town (before they had released their first album) which is now one of those kids birthday party places:)

wow, how cool. they should have Eddie teddies there for the kids.

temporary 03-02-2006 04:17 PM

Wow, I have like no idea what you guys are talking about with the venues, what with all of you being from England and me being from America. I wonder when Maiden will release their American dates.

ashman 03-02-2006 09:58 PM
The KC?
Aye, that's the one.

They need to play Hull again, last time they did it was 1983...

Apparently, there are rumours that someone at KC has contacted the agent for Maiden, but that's only a rumour that is probably a lie.

Would be nice though :)

thelittledrummerboy 03-03-2006 03:26 AM

Anyone no when the next part of the documentry is being released?

Yep.

Went to Glasgow for Megadeth, Leeds for Dragonforce, and Manchester for the Filth.

it's all good fun, but hellish tiring and expensive, i'm off to Glasgae again to see Cannibal Corpse in april, too.

i imagine it'll be late 06 or early 07.

me thinks it will be Powerslave-NPFTD

SimonCore 03-03-2006 10:45 AM

Not many bands really do the whole of Britain, which sucks for people who live no where near the popular places which are: Birmingham, Macnhester, Cardiff, London, Nottingham, and Glasgow.

there may not be that many, i'm not sure how many they did with DoD. we are lucky with Maiden being British though, but then you're lucky with having a lot of good bands being US (Iced Earth, Metallica, Dream Theater)

SimonCore 03-03-2006 04:28 PM

How big are Maiden in USA?

crag 03-03-2006 04:33 PM

As big as they are everywhere else in the world.

SimonCore 03-03-2006 05:07 PM

^ Thought so.

Hmm. If I had my own choice of support epic band i'd choose Dragonforce.

Haven't they already supported Maiden before? Can't remember when though..

I wouldn't say that. It's a struggle to find a lot of their stuff.

They did a few "eddie rips up Europe" dates

SimonCore 03-04-2006 06:26 AM

Coe to think of it i did hear something of them already supporting them but i can't quite recall. Maybe it was a rumour?
