Have any of you guys heard apocalyptica? If you have tell me what you think, i personally think its fukin cool as shiit. my favorite part is when the violin does the solo for "one".
I don't like them. I like the idea, but I must say they aren't that good at playing as they should be. Edit: I like some of their other tracks tho... Like Hall of the Mt. King |
I don't like them. I like the idea, but I must say they aren't that good at playing as they should be.
Really? I think they play all the songs pretty good. Random question: What color is your background For the forums? Mine is white |

Random question: What color is your background For the forums? Mine is white
My is Green... My reason: I don't think that you can get the cool rythm of metallica with out some kind of percussion |
My is Green...
My reason: I don't think that you can get the cool rythm of metallica with out some kind of percussion
You can get the rhythms fine, it just lacks the drive of percussion. |
white and i agree with munky!
|
You can get the rhythms fine, it just lacks the drive of percussion.
yeah that ruins there sound completely though, u can barely tell its trying to be a metal song. blue-green for me |
they're style changes every album, you guys have to realize that
That's the whole point! |
yeah that ruins there sound completely though, u can barely tell its trying to be a metal song.
blue-green for me
It's not trying to be a metal song. It's only a cover. Alot of early Metallica stuff borrows heavily from the classical sound, so hearing their songs on classical instruments is interesting. |
You can get the rhythms fine, it just lacks the drive of percussion.
Well I don't care why it doesn't sounds good, but i Know it's because of the missing percussion! |
It's not trying to be a metal song. It's only a cover.
Alot of early Metallica stuff borrows heavily from the classical sound, so hearing their songs on classical instruments is interesting.
Sure it's interesting to hear, but I would some sort of classical percussion to fill it... |
If Apocolyptica only have four cellos then they won't exactly put percussion in, will they?
It doesn't even need the percussion. |
1. In Hall of the Mt. King they've put in percussion so why not in metallica??
2. In my opinion it does, but that's taste ;) |
Alot of early Metallica stuff borrows heavily from the classical sound, so hearing their songs on classical instruments is interesting.
Wasn't this because Cliff was heavily into classical? |
yup. cliff was big time into bach and vivaldi. you should check em out because they are really cool. classical is essentially metal played with violins and cellos and **** like that.
|
Or metal is essentially classical played with Guitars etc....because Classical predates Metal by a good few years.
|
But just a few :p
|
yes, you are right. classical is still really cool. it helps me with my writing and gives me a lot of ideas about phrasing and harmony parts.
|
Wasn't this because Cliff was heavily into classical?
Yes he was, and alot into the theoretic(sry) part too... |
Yes he was, and alot into the theoretic(sry) part too...
He was the most musically advanced. |
yea i could see him being very classical
|
Well, Cliff had lessons for several years, and was big on studying and playing music by Bach.
|
then he played heavy metal
|
The solo for the Unforgiven on cello = sexay
Interesting fact is that Dave Lombardo worked with Apocalyptica on some stuff after he left/was kicked out of Slayer |
ok what did that have to do with metallica?
|
He was the most musically advanced.
Its True,,, I know Cliff was always the one who got his own way with most of the music, and he did the first four albums.... and when he died alot of the material he wrote was used on the Black album also.... So really its when cliffs material stopped, the band went downhill... I love reload, and load, but many say the best albums are the first five  |
and there right
|
and there right
Hell Yea... Well if you think about it, The first 5 albums were written with Cliff as the bassist, Those albums are put into a main catagory of best... Then you get the Load/Reload S.t Anger ect: with Bob Rock as the bassist, which most people class as the downhill albums,,, So now they have Rob as the bassist, it would make sense to see another change.... Do we agree?? or is it just me??? lol So, this change is either for better or worse.... Lets look at Robs history, if Rob gets a say in the new material being written, what type of music would you say the outcome may be??? Old school?? |
Cliff wrote the bass for "Metallica"? ****, I didn't know that. I thought that was Newsted.
/me rolls eyes |
