I like Birthday Party, Joy Division, Wire and Magazine all more than Gang of Four, but I'm a moron.

The only Wire album I have is Pink Flag but I really really dig it.

Well, you know I loves me some Wire (they just beat Zappa on my last.fm!), but I only consider the albums after [I]Pink Flag[/I] to be post-punk, and of those only [I]Chairs Missing[/I] is great. Magazine has two remarkable post-punk classics.

Then you can get into counting Talking Heads' later 70s and early 80s stuff, and the choice gets really hard. But I don't think they're really post-punk anyway.

Yeah I don't really consider Talking Heads to be post-punk, but they certainly embrace elements of the genre.
