The drums do get to me after awhile, but the riffs are incredible. I think the lyrics are pretty cool. The only thing I want out of this new album that I didn't get from St. Anger is solos.
Yeah, I agree. St. Anger was a pretty good album, despite what so many say, but it just doesn't have that metallica feel without a few good face-melting solos. |
Oh, crap, sorry guys. I really didn't mean to post that one twice, I must have accidently double clicked it.
dude, you just triple post, next time use the edit button. the original version of the mechanix is also on the "no life till leather" demo. |
Yes, that is the track list, and yes, there WAS a Mechanix. It was Mechanix up until Dave left, then Metallica's version became the Four Horsemen with an added 3 minutes or so and the lyrics were totally changed. Dave's version in Megadeth was/is still his original version of Mechanix.
Almost. They already remade Mechanix before Dave left the band. He also wrote all of the new parts that occur on the The Four Horsemen and a lot of the new lyrics. |
Uhm...no...Dave has said countless times that it was Mechanix up until he left and then they changed it after he left.
|
is Mechanix any good compared to Four Horseman?
|
The four horsemen is way better IMO
The lyrics are better,They added more to the song and The stuff they addded to the song is hood stuff. The only thing better about the mechanix, is that it is faster. |
Uhm...no...Dave has said countless times that it was Mechanix up until he left and then they changed it after he left.
He was asked about it on the Megadeth forums. I'll find the actual quote he used and post it in a second. Anyway, he may not have recorded it with them or even played it live BUT he did write the new parts and some of the new lyrics...
close, but no cigar. i wrote all of the mechanix when i was in panic. i took it with me to metallica. i wrote the new middle part to FH. most of the new lyrics to FH were mine. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
He posted that on the official Megadeth forum. |
He posted that on the official Megadeth forum.
Cool. Hetfield should post on tallica forums. Or does he? Ahh, he should just come here and post in this thread. :thumb: I heard that guy from static X posts regularly on their forums. That's kinda neat. |
that was the most creative, original, and interesting post i have ever seen
obviously my post was an opinion.
If you are expecting metallica to make something like mop or rtl, I think you should stop waiting for metallica's album. Metallica has evolved so much from those old days. I'll be happy whatever they release probably, as long as they stick to normal drums. Those drums in saint anger can get alittle annoying, but everything else is great imo. :thumb:
i've pretty much given up on them by now. it's basically no shredding or solos, and that's a lot of what i liked about metallica. but, there's always a chance. |
He posted that on the official Megadeth forum.
I highly doubt it was him. |
I highly doubt it was him.
If you were actually a member of the Megadeth forums, you'd know that it was him. He has his own spot where he speaks to everyone. Glen Drover even has his own Guitar thread where he helps Guitarists with Megadeth songs and any other concerns they have. |
I had always thought that Hetfield wrote those extra sections in The Four Horsemen. Shows what I know
I like Mechanix a little better, I just feel that verse riff seems unnatural at the tempo Metallica played it compared to Megadeth. Both version have their merits though. EDIT: Here is a video of Metallica playing Mechanix with Dave. http://megadeth.uw.hu/videos.html. Its the one at the top I think. |

Oh right, I thought you meant the megadeth thread  |
Hmm. The bass is better in the Metallica version. Its more basic in the Mechanix that was posted a page or so ago. That comes from Cliff being better than Ron though (which is why the link was requested in the first place  ). However, if FH was played at that tempo, it would be far better. The speed is rather funkay on that version.

I dont know man. I mean every other album except st. anger had solos/shredding. They even add solos to st. anger in concerts. I mean it's not like their last 5 albums have had no solos or such. But kirk pretty much has most solos for st. anger they just for some weird reason didn't want to use them on the official album. Saint Anger would be so badass if they used normal drum sounds and added a few solos. :naughty: |
Well like I've said in previous posts, Trujillo is into thrash and old-skool so hopefully he can bring some form of classic influence to the band.
|
You mean The Four Horsemen?
Edit: Gocaps! Where's my review of Battery :(
Yes! I thought it was that... I haven't been on in days... I'll work on a review |
Well like I've said in previous posts, Trujillo is into thrash and old-skool so hopefully he can bring some form of classic influence to the band.
What you just said is basically saying that Trujillo is influenced by bands like metallica, so hopefully he can bring some Metallica influenced stuff into Metallica. |
What you just said is basically saying that Trujillo is influenced by bands like metallica, so hopefully he can bring some Metallica influenced stuff into Metallica.
Which is good, because anyone that's influenced by Metallica and any band similar is most likely to be influenced by '80s Metallica. |

Not just Metallica, bands like Testament, Exodus, Saxon, Motorhead, etc. |
Not just Metallica, bands like Testament, Exodus, Saxon, Motorhead, etc.
Yea, he said bands like Metallica. But you're right, maybe it will help bring back some old Metallica sound. |
Or maybe they will create a new sound, new-skool heaviness (nu-metally, like St Anger) with Old-skool speed and rhythm. :amaze:
|
since everyone loves the old metallica on kill em all, rtl, mop, and ajfa, then y did they change???? or is this a question that everyone is wondering about...
|

In my opinion the music has gotten worse, on a steady decline since the Black Album, when they started to go mainstream, and I think St. Anger is their all-time low. Not just the lack of shredding/solos, but the tunes themselves. (Again, just my thoughts.) But, like some other people have said, Trujillo comes from a thrash/heavy metal background and might bring a nice new perspective to the band. |
I'm perfectly happy shredless, I like Kirk's soulful solos so much better. Yes, the music has declined, but we'll see.
to metallicapeppermint: Bob Rock. We'll have to wait and see what the new album is like. I'm hoping it's similar to the Black Album |
i'm also hoping at least something similar to the black album, but i think is gonna be faster, robzilla is the main cause.
|
I'm optimistic because Lars realizes that they need solos and according to Kirk he hasn't seen fingers move that fast and play so well since Cliff. So for all you bass lovers, I'm thinking you'll hear some bass on the KEA/RTL/MOP level, and not the St. Anger level.
|
Eh i could care less about the bass.
|
does metallica choose rob over claypool?
|
I like the bass, just I like guitar better.
to heavy metal kid: what??? |
does metallica choose rob over claypool?
They did choose rob over claypool yes. When Newsted quit Claypool offered to join Metallica because he is one of Kirk's best friends. They said no most likely because he is too good for them. |
does metallica choose rob over claypool?
What the hell? Who's claypool? |
Dude, they chose Rob over Claypool almost three years ago... have you been on earth lately?
|
I saw SKOM last night :\ Didn't like the whole positive influence bull****, and Hammett and Hetfield playing Gibson :X
Anywho...I'm obsessed with the song And Justice For All. |

Anywho...I'm obsessed with the song And Justice For All.
Your one of many obcessed with the song AJFA, Great song if you ask me!, I have accually just learned the intro to it, Its pretty easy.... So to all the guitarists out there!!! A drummer here can play it! :thumb: |
Yeah, I learned all of One the past week. Great song for leads.
Funny how almost my favorite songs on MoP,RTL,AJFL are the self-titleds :P But, I think I almost like The Call of the Ktulu or For Whom The Bell Tolls better than RTL. |
What the hell?
Who's claypool?
 |
