If I severely disliked their first album, would I like this at all? ie. was there any sort of change in direction?

asymm 12-27-2006 11:27 AM
If I severely disliked their first album, would I like this at all? ie. was there any sort of change in direction?
I'd say it's worth listening to a few tracks. I wasn't much of a fan of the first record either, this one is a great improvement. You can hear some real nice, direct New Order stylings.

pixiesfanyo 12-27-2006 11:32 AM

A quick nap.

sexymuffin 12-27-2006 11:42 AM

I'll take your word for it...it's free Oink week.

Electrocution 12-27-2006 12:06 PM

Gospel broke up. I am thrown into a pit of confusion. This really really sucks a lot a lot a lot a lot.

Zebra 12-27-2006 12:52 PM

DJ Shadow - Endtroducing
Massive Attack - Mezzanine

Jacaranda 12-27-2006 01:07 PM
Mezzanine > Endtroducing. Simple as that.
Great minds think alike (:-*

YDload 12-27-2006 02:53 PM

_Mote_ 12-27-2006 02:56 PM

The day that I got it, I listened to it 8 times, I kid you not.

_Mote_ 12-27-2006 03:23 PM

I'm listening to Lou Reed - New York now.

...And Romeo had Juliet, and Juliet had her Romeo!!

Zmev 12-27-2006 03:40 PM

Wham!

Kiss Kiss - Reality Vs. The Optimist This has the potential to make a run at my favorite albums of the year list.

I need to get those it seems. s/t is great.

YDload 12-27-2006 04:10 PM
Goat > Down > Liar = Head > Shot > Blue

actually Liar is better than Head, but it still has weak stuff like "Perk" and "Slave Ship"
Slave Ship is awesome

it actually has some sort of meaning to it and the guitar riff is fucking sweet.

Zebra 12-27-2006 04:15 PM

Liar > Goat

It's really close but I got Liar first so I tend to like it better. The rest of their albums are really bad except for maybe Head.

and "Slave Ship" is cool but not even close to the best off the album. That prize goes to either "Zacharia" or "Boilermaker."

Electrocution 12-27-2006 04:16 PM

listening to Tim Hecker's Harmony in Ultraviolet. seems pretty decent ambient style.

YDload 12-27-2006 04:16 PM

Zachariah is just a slower version of Slave Ship, but maybe thats why i like em both so much

my fav. right now is prolly Rope. its like Meat Puppets but angrier

They put out a boxset this year called Out of Cold Storage. It's worth it, includes basically everything.

Seriously though, those Peel Sessions are the best I've ever heard. I cannot believe they were recored in the 70s, it sounds modern for now.

I've seen that box set advertised somewhere and I think I'll get it. I'll definitely get more by them, maybe the Peel Sessions.

mr_jackalope 12-27-2006 05:55 PM

Ok, so I'm gonna concede to DMD and say the first track of the LCD Soundsystem album is really, really good. How the hell did they pull this off after that trashheap of a first album?

Swami 12-27-2006 06:38 PM

Fuck you talk some smack sometimes. I'm sure you don't actually believe half of what you post.

Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick
Bailter Space - Robot World

Swami 12-27-2006 06:43 PM

debatable...

Cuz there was no respect, no presence to be had anymore. Plus I've only been posting lately due to extreme boredom...and computer access.
