I was talking about the song by Flotsam & Jetsam to be honest :p
i've recored a lot of metallica to my four track. one rythm guitar paned right, one left, and bass, lead guitar, and vocals in the middle--gives it a thick sound, at least for a four track. "fade" is one i've done recently. learning songs note for note and recoding them like that has helped me with techniqe, lead phrasing, and even theory. fun stuff.
i've been doing that on cakewalk on my computer. it's been difficult for me for not only timing reasons, but for playing. i just a few weeks ago got the books and the books say what james plays behind the solos. i want the AJFA book and Black Album book now

ok so i dont think i've told this yet. i got extremely bored today. so i looked on my computer and found some metallica music and some pictures online and made this huge slideshow/b-roll thing. it's actually pretty cool. the pictures suck, but the music and titles are cool. it was pretty fun making actually, i love working with film and editing

wrongnote85 03-12-2005 10:56 PM

one thing that i do for timing, because i don't have a metronome, is to take a bass, a pick, and palm mute a low e note for the count of the song the whole way through, trying to be as accurate as possible and counting the whole way. then i use that as my "psudeo-nome". that can help a lot with timing, especially when i recorded "last rites/loved to deth" by megadeth.

willis2441 03-12-2005 11:04 PM

i dont mean to brag, but as a drummer i have exelent timing

Chu 03-12-2005 11:07 PM

That's important for a drummer. I'm happy for you.

why thank you,im not as good as phil rudd though,i think he has the best timing in the world

Chu 03-12-2005 11:35 PM

You're only going to improve man, I don't see you as being like a 30+ year old professional, so I don't think you have to worry about being better then any drummer at the moment, just keep going at it hard, you'll get there some day :)

True, but he has absolutely no technicality, but when you do 19bps on the snare, who cares :)

Yeah a lot of people in here know what they are talking about, and can see both sides of an argument but u still find millions of people that are ignorant fan boyz and cant seem to get it through there head that no 1 band is the best at everything.

Why do people hate the post justice album?

trapped_under_ice 03-13-2005 10:13 AM

yeah, I dont understand why people are flaming you for talking about the black album at all...I mean, Thats one of the most popular albums. (Unless you're criticising it I suppose).

Bartender 03-13-2005 10:16 AM
Why do people hate the post justice album?
Well the albums after AJFA sound different to those before AJFA (AJFA itself seems to be in a little world of it's own), so it's only natural that people that like one style may not like the other. And then that's before you get into the whole "they sold out" angle many take.

shadow_stalker 03-13-2005 10:16 AM

I don't mind it if the people have a proper reason, but most people i've talked to about it just say "they sold out", no matter what you say they will just keep saying "they sold out".

shadow_stalker 03-13-2005 10:18 AM
