Golden Leaf Moment is really awesome, I actually thought that should have won the DM comp last time. Brian, you definately know how to make chaotic music.
...:upset:

Its true, yours was much more death like then mine.

Kage 11-02-2005 09:46 PM

Yeah, MT, I was very impressed with your stuff. I don't think I'd ever heard anything you'd written before, so I was kind of taken aback. Great stuff.

Magicaltroll 11-02-2005 09:55 PM

:D
I love hearing that from people.

Thanks you guys.

Jude 11-02-2005 10:08 PM
Well, what kind of music are you into? When uploading albums, I try and use the cd by the band that has some type of assosciation with bands that the person already likes...
I like classic rock, blues, some prog, a little metal, classical, some experimental stuff, etc. The threads I post most regularly in in R&M are Porcupine Tree and Opeth for example. And Bob Dylan is my idol.

I'm open to whatever album someone thinks I might like.

Moses 11-02-2005 10:36 PM
Well here's a rundown of what each album is like:

Opiate: Old school ep, grunge-ish sound but you can see their progressive roots
Undertow: Darker hard rock with a nasty, corrupting, dirty, feel to it
Aenima: Alot cleaner and more modern rock sounding, hard rock with alot of progressive element to it
Lateralus: Straight prog rock emphasizing ambience and emotion
What do you think you'll like?

For most people Aenima is the best starter.

Well I've heard Lateralus has some awesome proggy concept where you play the songs in a different order and get a different storyline or something, so that intrigues me, plus I dig all the songs I've heard from it.

Moses 11-02-2005 10:52 PM

Sombody get the man Lateralus!! STAT!!

@ Brian,
You should check out my old entry for the prog rock comp. It's really bad quality, and the drum tracks I used suck, and I did it in about a week, but that's ok. Here's the crappy one:

Here's my new one that I'm working on for my band:

Wow, the prog one is really good. It's pretty trippy sounding. And the sound actually adds to the goodness of the song in my opinion. And the riff at 4:15 is pretty cool also. Though it sounds like a song, just not sure which one... :/

I'll check the other one out right now.

Moses 11-02-2005 11:13 PM

Cool. Thanks alot. I love when people give good feedback on my songs.

One Groovin Clown 11-02-2005 11:15 PM

guess who got two of his friends hooked on tool???

that's right, me.

YDload 11-02-2005 11:21 PM

I don't discuss Tool with my friends unless they're already into them. If you push the band on people, then they'll think of you as one of "those" fans, because rest assured they will have been given the treatment before. One of my friends even thought I was a fanboy when he found out I liked Tool, but I knew he would probably like Undertow if he heard it.

I couldn't say anything though, but I think the mere fact that I usually know a good band when I hear it had intrigued him enough to check out that very album. And he liked it! So yeah.

Moses 11-02-2005 11:26 PM

Tool is really hard to introduce to someone. They have to find it themselves most of the time.

Rounder 11-03-2005 12:44 AM

the best way to introduce someone to Tool or any band is to give them a cd, or a burned copy. This way they can listen to it in their own space, and not feel like ur pushing on them or that you're just a fanboy.

bwnstl 11-03-2005 12:48 AM

The "one note riff" song with "a lot of time changes."

I've heard that "new tool single" joke, but I'm wondering what song they're making fun of. Is it Lateralus, cause that's all I can think of.

Moses 11-03-2005 12:49 AM

That'd be The Grudge.

Ostrich Man 11-03-2005 05:14 AM

Does anyone know of Tool's plans for the future? Albums? Tours?

dUSK 11-03-2005 05:21 AM

At the moment it seems as though the new album will be release some time in mid '06. Thats about all we know.

Spiritofmosa 11-03-2005 07:59 AM

Tool is not that kind of band with 'hit - singles'. the only hit tool song i think would be 'sober'. the other songs sound better when you listen to the whole album.

Jude 11-03-2005 09:28 AM

Still hoping for an upload :upset: I hear their live shows are pretty nuts.

Moses 11-03-2005 03:20 PM
I'll check the other one out right now.
Check it out yet?

YouGottaBeCrazy 11-03-2005 03:43 PM

Who was it on here that said they got a myspace message from Adam? In the message, there was some weird patterns with vertical lines. Does anybody remember what that pattern was? I think I may or may not have figured something out about • • • - • • - - • - -, and that pattern from Adam is really needed (as the person who got the message said that it fit into • • • - • • - - • - - ). Anyone?

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-03-2005 04:31 PM

He messaged me with this pattern

||||.|.||||

Tell us what you think you've got. :)

Morse Code?

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-03-2005 04:52 PM

It's not Morse Code. Someone thought it was Morse until they plugged every combination of letters into that specific pattern and got nothing.

Magicaltroll 11-03-2005 04:57 PM

Not again...

And I didn't get to check that other song out yet Moses, I will soon though.

I know. It only comes out with a load of T's.

Maybe that means something!:p

Kage 11-03-2005 05:07 PM

May be it means you should just wait patiently for the new album.

Hey! Four words that end with T! It's obviously a code! If you divide that number by two, and then add 2, you get 2/4/06. It means the album comes out February 4th!

amirite? amirite?

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-03-2005 05:14 PM
/beats dead horse

My Melvins one was way better than that. :p

Magicaltroll 11-03-2005 05:18 PM

Moses, that one you're working on for your band is really good!
I loved the main riff in it, it sounded kinda thrashy, and different from alot of stuff I usually hear.

When do you think I can hear it with vocals?

I think I'll start my OMGWAGB-Isis thread right now :thumb:

Dried Muffin Remnants 11-03-2005 06:16 PM

<3 Isis

...But am I the only one who likes Celestial the most? I like when they're very heavy and sludgy. I think that Oceanic is more boring.

Magicaltroll 11-03-2005 06:18 PM

I haven't heard Celestial :/

I love Oceanic though.

What do you guys think I should upload for people? Which album?

Kage 11-03-2005 06:23 PM

I just finished listening through Oceanic. I love that album, it's so good. I like it better than any of their other albums. The atmosphere of it is perfect for Isis' sound.

I'm now listening to Pelican, which is the king of all Post metal, in my opinion. This album is unstoppable. My favorite of '05.

Dried Muffin Remnants 11-03-2005 06:23 PM

If you want I can help with some Celestial d/ls. I like it because of the raw heaviness fused with post-rock.

Oceanic is almost post-rock to me; it sounds more like Thaw from Pelican. I just think that Pelican has a better lighter sound than Isis. However, I think Isis is much better than Pelican when they're heavy.

For the raw heaviness you crave (with still some great post rock mixed in), have you heard Cult of Luna? I think you'd enjoy them. They can be intensely heavy, yet also very soft. Kind of like Isis, but with a different vibe to it overall.

Dried Muffin Remnants 11-03-2005 06:28 PM

Sendage? Have you heard Celestial?

I love the harmonics part in Deconstructing Towers... At least I believe they arte.

Kage 11-03-2005 06:29 PM

Most definate sendage.

I haven't heard all of Celestial, but some of it. I like it, but Oceanic rules as a whole album. Of course, I shouldn't make the judgement until I've heard Celestial in full.

Magicaltroll 11-03-2005 06:30 PM

Cult Of Luna....

they rule so much.
They are great, one of my favorite bands.
