Motorbreath is a great song,
first time I heard it I was like "woah, jesus this is insane".
But Pulling Teeth is a good song, great drumming and bass, of course.
Sorry to take the conversation of Megadeth for a while lol, But does anyone know what Jason Newstead is doing with himself lately??? I heard he has now gone to Black Sabbath, Not sure if it is true though...
Also, a little bit off the subject here, but i noticed in Nickleback - Someday The drumming was slightly different, does anyone know if they have recorded new drums... Or have a new drummer??? P.s Chad from Nickleback has great stories from when he was around Jaymez Hetfield! Check em out on google
As far as I'm aware he's playing in a band called "Voivod". I'm not sure if he's still in Echobrain.

ThrashMaster27 03-12-2005 06:25 PM

Yes, he's in the Canadian band Voivod. Haha, Black Sabbath? where did you hear that one? down your local?

willis2441 03-12-2005 06:26 PM

A) Voivod pwn
B) Newsted was in Ozzy for a short while when they toured back in 2002 I believe it was (maybe it was 2003, I can't remember)

Just after Rob joined Metallica Jason played for Ozzy, kinda ironic.
Yes Jason's enjoying the success of Voivod at the moment.

The best song off Kill 'em All, in my opinion is Jump In The Fire.
But I listen to that album so much it's always changing.

willis2441 03-12-2005 08:09 PM

IMO jason messed up when he left metallica

MOP_Orion 03-12-2005 08:18 PM

if your favorite song is enter sandman then you are a gimp as it is the gimpiest metallica song ever made.

vashts80 03-12-2005 08:19 PM

My favorite song is Enter Sandman. I am now a gimp.

...no, seriously though, my favorite song atm is probably My Friend of Misery
IMO jason messed up when he left metallica
I don't think he messed up, he would have made enough money with Metallica to do whatever the **** he wants now.
And now he can finally be creative, and Jason has years of experience, the man is very creative.

Accually i did LMAO, I did think it seemed logical, Black sabbaths bassist leaves.... Bassist position availible, does kinda make sense when you have had a few too many lol :D

who is flotsam&jetsam?

ThrashMaster27 03-12-2005 09:24 PM

Jasons previous band before he joined Metallica.

Chu 03-12-2005 09:24 PM

Pretty good spacey metal band, get some of their music, you might enjoy it.
They do an awesome cover of Battery.

metallica or the other one?

Chu 03-12-2005 09:35 PM

Well considering Battery is Metallica's original work..
Yes it's Flotsam & Jetsam who do a good cover of Battery.

Actually, Flotsam & Jetsam did Damage, Inc. My bad, sorry.
Battery with Dave Lombardo on drums, Trujillo on bass and Rocky/Suicidal Tendancies on guitar.

ThrashMaster27 03-12-2005 09:40 PM

Would have been handy for Rob when he got into Metallica. Anyway, if anyone wants to check Flotsam & Jetsam out, I'd recommend Doomsday For The Deceiver. It was the only album with Jason on and he did a whole lot of writing on it. Very bass driven album...anyway if you wanna be a cheapskate total and utter bastard, you can download the following...

Metalshock
Doomsday For The Deceiver
Hammerhead
Fade to Black (You heard me!)

It's not a cover though. Anyway, have fun.

Carlos Santana 03-12-2005 09:47 PM

ok i remeber something, any of you guys used to go on neopets as a kid. I remeber there being two guys called Flotsam and Jetsam. Did they get thier name from Jason band?

wrongnote85 03-12-2005 10:15 PM

i've recored a lot of metallica to my four track. one rythm guitar paned right, one left, and bass, lead guitar, and vocals in the middle--gives it a thick sound, at least for a four track. "fade" is one i've done recently. learning songs note for note and recoding them like that has helped me with techniqe, lead phrasing, and even theory. fun stuff.
