El Cielo was too samey and bland for me in many places (vocally). The songs sounded more similar to each other than Cw/oA and seemed to run together for me. The good songs are good, but a lot of songs sounded too alike, possibly thanks in part to the glossy production. I was left feeling like such and such song was an inferior version of Of the Room, or whatever.

I havn't got Leitmotif in album though, maybe I'd think that was less bland.

They seem to be getting softer though, wonder what they'll do next. The singer is getting better, more range, trying new things.

I agree.

Otherside, I'm digging ( ).

Shadius 08-14-2005 07:20 PM

I've tried to get () a few times in the past, with no luck. I'll try getting it now, Sigur Ros interest me.
I don't think they ever had a different singer.
I'm almost positive they did, Gavin used to be the second guitarist

On Traversing, they never mention someone else singing on that, and it seems like they would. Only when Gavin became the singer did they adopt the name Dredg. They had a different singer, but at that time were essentially a different band.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-14-2005 07:35 PM

Gavin doesn't do any of the guitarwork now, does he? It says he plays slide guitar now, but uh, I don't hear any slide guitar on CWA..:p

He does a lot of textural things with the slide guitar live. And the beginning of Bug Eyes is him on the slide guitar.

You're most likely right, I just assumed it wasn't him on conscious hehehe

And there's alot of slide guitar work on CWOA...
The intro to bug eyes most noteworthy

I'm so jealous!

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-14-2005 08:06 PM

Still, If I'm recalling correctly, that's only one guitar part. I guess I just assumed that was Mark.

denboy 08-14-2005 08:11 PM

Nah, if you listen closely, and/or see live photage, you'll realise how much slide guitar there is

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-14-2005 08:17 PM

I'll listen for it the next time I listen to CWA.

L' Via L' Viaquiz 08-14-2005 08:34 PM

I know this will seem like a really dumb question, i just couldnt be bothered to find it, but do any of you tool fanatics know when their new album comes out. I know there recording, but they are quite slow, but better not to be rushed i suppose. Im sure its been said heaps before but again im too lazy to read all the other pages.

PeEpHoLe_10 08-14-2005 08:37 PM

Nobody knows anything about the new album, its all just silly rumours. We'll just have to keep waiting i guess.

Trintar_VIII 08-14-2005 08:39 PM

No release date has been announced, but there's been rumors and guesses going around. I've heard as early as September and the latest was April. Again, these are all rumors and guesses, nothing official.

Also, people The 16th is coming up.........The time to see if that teleincision thingy is real or fake, I myself will go to the vid. store to see if its true. If it is then well we'll all be very happy.

Adam Jones is GOD 08-15-2005 02:21 AM

Im awaiting Blair's newsletter to be posted personally. Something visual will do a lot more for me than more rumours. Thats why these pictures appearing have increased my excitement.

The mailing list has been silent for a while too, which is not a good sign. Either that, or people are too lazy to post their findings on it

I sure hope it's the real deal, but who knows? Only a day away now.

"Recently, I’ve been giving you information about the limited edition LATERALUS vinyl (and I’ll have more news about it in a few days), but let’s not forget that that the members of the band are currently in the process of recording a new CD. So, I’m thinking that this would probably be a good subject for the August newsletter (even the little bit of info I’m able to reveal at this time). “EVEN THE BURGERS ARE SECRET” will be the title of this newsletter and I hope to be able to include some photos of the boys doing their thing in the studio. Anyway, that’s the plan… and what’s coming."

This paragraph sounds great... I want to see more in studio pictures...

Magazine_Gurl 08-15-2005 10:12 AM

Are you guys still doing covers? The only songs i know all the way through on guitar and/or bass is The patient, H, and 46 and 2. i would be happy to help you guys out.

I am hoping so as I have been waiting a LONG time for it. But the bad news is that with only one day away the teleincision site is down.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-15-2005 01:03 PM

A picture can say a thousand words. I agree with you on that Ben. That picture of the Lateralus vinyl made me more excited than any of the rumors by far. :p Well, maybe with the exception of my the whole "Maynard liking King Buzzo's sausage" deal.

Moses 08-15-2005 01:06 PM

Maybe the album will be about food.....?

Prince of Darkness 08-15-2005 01:07 PM

Sorry, but what's the big thing happening tomorrow?
Sorry, but what's the big thing happening tomorrow?
Supposedly the new DVD. But whether it is true or not is being discussed heavily by Toolophiles. On the surface it could be taken as just another rumor but this one in particuliar had an official site and everything. Only the next 24 hours can tell.

EDIT:Actually all you have to do is call your local music store and they will tell you if they will have it.

DOUBLE EDIT:Which I just did, they don't have it nor will they. I think we can scratch this one off as false guys :upset:

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-15-2005 01:18 PM

^12 hours. I'm going to check at midnight, because I'm the most tr00 Tool fan alive!
