Good call on seeing A Silver Mt. Zion, Zach. Those guys are killer.

Have you seen them live? To be, for the most part, introduced to them in a live setting was an amazing experience. I can't stop listening to them. I've been going crazy over 13 Blues For Thirteen Moons and Horses In The Sky. I really need to download the rest of their discography because I love both of those albums.

FunkMetalBass 02-04-2012 03:23 PM

Shitty morning. I dropped my carboy and broke it, sending 5 gallons of dark beer and glass shards everywhere. I then proceeded to slice my finger open cleaning up the mess. Fuck.

funkyhoney 02-04-2012 06:25 PM

Car... Boy...?

So I got a cryptic voice mail from my keyboardist early this morning. I think it was cryptic in the "we don't want you in the band anymore" way. This means war.

A carboy is a thick glass jug, 5 gallons in my case.

Why would they want to kick you out of the band? Is it because your bass doesn't have enough strings?

funkyhoney 02-05-2012 04:45 AM

We haven't done shit since moving, I haven't played since I broke my finger and I haven't spoken to anyone in a month or two. Just feels like the biggest mistake I've made in recent memory

One of those things where I wake up every day and ask myself why the fuck I'm living here.

gaslight 02-05-2012 08:20 AM

Because you didn't listen when I said it was an awful idea? :p

To be fair, I do say that every idea is awful, so people can be forgiven for not knowing I mean it.

No, I haven't seen them, but I've listened to their early albums a lot in the past. I should get those again and give them a spin. It's been a while. I'm a big fan of Godspeed, and most of the associated acts.

FunkMetalBass 02-10-2012 08:55 AM

Wow, I just got my state tax return in this morning. Good timing, too, because I have to have some work done on my car and renew the registration.

fatbandit 02-10-2012 10:15 AM

On the flip side, I took 20 quid out earlier, and must have dropped 15 of it somehow, somewhere as I can't find it :( I feel so poor now haha. And stupid.

FunkMetalBass 02-10-2012 10:34 AM

"Everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people..."

FunkMetalBass 02-10-2012 10:57 AM

So do your ATMs only spit out money in denominations of 20, as is the case over here?

spirit 02-10-2012 12:18 PM

no, our money is actually worth something, so the usual denomination is multiples of 10.

bazinga

FunkMetalBass 02-10-2012 12:32 PM

With the huge difference in gas prices, I can only imagine that's where the difference in your money goes.

spirit 02-10-2012 05:11 PM

i know that was a jibe about the price of petrol, but i'm not sure the sentence itself makes sense. but, if we assume it does...

hey! fuck you, man. you and your cheap petrol that you use the wrong name for.

fatbandit 02-10-2012 07:43 PM

It gave me a ten and two fives today actually. How novel!

spirit 02-10-2012 08:20 PM

was going to point out the current test of dispensing fives, but decided "usual" would cover it.

Haha, I couldn't think of the best way to phrase that sentence. You got the gist of it though - your money is worth more, but gas is more expensive, so it all averages out.

And it's gasoline, not petroleum. Petroleum is a jelly you put on your bum after making the unfortunate decision to have a jalapeņo-eating contest at the bar.

I wish we could withdraw $10's.

fatbandit 02-11-2012 03:26 AM

That's petroleum jelly, a by product of petroleum, surely? Either way, just go into the bank and ask for ten dollars? D:

Semantics.

I work from 7-5 and go to school from 7-6 (or later). It's honestly rare that I have access to a bank during normal hours.

spirit 02-11-2012 03:00 PM

by "semantics" do you mean "accurate"?

cuz, y'know, "gasoline" isn't gaseous. it is, however, petroleum derived, like petroleum jelly.

My old bank had a few ATM's that we could withdraw tens from. It was glorious.

ScorpSath 02-11-2012 05:05 PM

just go get cashback g
is he playing with a measly 4!:eek:
I think so. It's depressing, really. :(

ScorpSath 02-11-2012 08:43 PM

Maybe he could tape on another bass to make it eight.

trendsetter ftw

So, I went and researched this to figure out why "gas" was the preferred term. While I don't give many people credit for intelligence, I figured getting the state of matter wrong was a bit too unintelligent.

Turns out that Gasoline was originally a brand name for the petroleum distillate and was originally used for medicinal purposes (I think it was for killing lice). Upon the advent of the internal combustion engine, they realized that it worked perfectly as a fuel, hence being shortened to "gas."

I've been playing this since '07, so I think I corner the MX 8-string TrendSetter market. :D

spirit 02-13-2012 05:36 PM

sweet, at least it's not completely retarded.

so it's like kleenex. it was a brand name, but has come to be a generic term.

Pluperfect_Arson 02-13-2012 06:51 PM

Who is ready to party hard?

spirit 02-13-2012 07:00 PM
