Would it help if I uploaded it as a .zip file, and then when you burn Neuro's next album you can get it as well?

Although I don't see why you wouldn't be able to download a convertor even with a computer that 'times out'. It's less than 3Mb

Darkness 10-31-2005 10:37 PM
Oh yes that's right, you're the one who sent me Dreaming Neon Black. Too bad I can't convert the files from m4a to mp3 or wmv. Thanks alot anyway though I can still listen to it at school on their computers.
Really? Damn... I even asked you, and you said that those files would be OK... sorry man.

Edit: Aside from some of the vocals on the DEP songs, it's pretty decent... but I wouldn't buy an album.

Moses 10-31-2005 10:56 PM

I thought it would be ok, that was my fault. I found out the next day though. I can still listen to it but I won't be able to have it on my computer. You also realize that it's the almighty Mike Patton on vocals on that album, right?

@ Gmac
I'm saying I can't download a converter on my school computer. My computer times out whenever I have a big file to download, like a whole album.

Spiritofmosa 10-31-2005 10:57 PM

i've been getting into team sleep today, anybody listen to this band?

Dried Muffin Remnants 10-31-2005 11:00 PM

Yup, a band with some of Chino's other friends... An ambient sampling group. Pretty good.

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-31-2005 11:01 PM

I don't think I ever said I disliked DEP, Moses. I may have, but if I did say that, I beleive these songs have proved me wrong.

Darkness 10-31-2005 11:02 PM

I sure do, and he's never done anything that amazed me... never saw what was so great about him.

Moses 10-31-2005 11:07 PM
I sure do, and he's never done anything that amazed me... never saw what was so great about him.
Hmmm... that's weird. He's probably the most unique and talented singer in R&M as I see it. He's extremely versatile, his Al Green cover is amazing.

Well, Jake you have a new band to explore.:thumb:

YDload 10-31-2005 11:07 PM

I have Miss Machine burned onto my computer, as well as the song "43% Burnt." My brother bought MM after seeing the band at Warped, and I stole it from him and ripped it to my computer after seeing them at Gigantour. Point is, this band is very very powerful live, and that's without Patton too (they played When Good Dogs Do Bad Things).

Moses 10-31-2005 11:09 PM

How amazing was it? I went to Gigantour but I missed them and I hate myself for it.

I think you missed the point of what I was saying. You do realise that a .exe file can be disguised as .zip, allowing it to pass through what filter your school computers have.

Moses 10-31-2005 11:29 PM

Oh, if you'd like to do that I'd appreciate it.

dUSK 10-31-2005 11:37 PM

Well, it's crap having music that you can't listen to, so I figured I'd try and help you out. Sent

Moses 10-31-2005 11:45 PM

Thanks.

YDload 10-31-2005 11:49 PM
How amazing was it? I went to Gigantour but I missed them and I hate myself for it.
Imagine the typical thrashing around of your average metalcore band, but speed it up 5X and have the guitarists play something impressive for once. The drummer's set couldn't have more than five pieces, but he plays with the intensity and busy-ness of a death metal double-bass thumper. The singer looks like a bodybuilder and he stares into the crowd for minutes at a time without blinking, and he also throws water bottle into the audience (like a homing missile) and generally looks pissed off the whole time while screaming his guts out.

I heard some Gigantour crowds weren't into the band because they didn't play your typical power/prog/heavy metal, but in Pittsburgh everyone was into them.

hey folks, havin only recently discovered Tool, i've found it to be quite an experience :thumb: , but i was was wondering if there are any aussies inparticular or anyone particulary who could explain why the Salival CD or DVD seems impossible to get hold of in Australia?

Moses 10-31-2005 11:52 PM

Because it's impossible to get anywhere.

I really wish I could have made it in time to see DEP though.

SoLs 10-31-2005 11:53 PM

Damn, what was it like a limited editon thing or something like that?

You'll have to get it from eBay. It's on there, it's just a pain in the arse to get. A lot of the versions for sale in Aus are the VHS version, which I doubt is the one your after. You should be able to pick it up somewhere though, as long as your not after anything in mint condition (I was, but eventually gave up due to price/availability). It won't be cheap.
Damn, what was it like a limited editon thing or something like that?
Yes. I think it went out of print in '01, although I'm not 100% sure.

Moses 10-31-2005 11:54 PM

Exactly.

I've seen it for 300 bucks.

Cheers man, ill give Ebay a go then and see what happens, gotta buy my bass effects first tho :thumb: , or just wait till Tool gets out here (pfft, ill prob be 40 by then :upset: )

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-01-2005 04:37 PM

I've seen it for as low as 30 on Amazon. It was probably in crappy shape, or something.

I saw them live last June at a local club. It ruled beyond belief, they're much different live than on recording.
I saw them live last June at a local club. It ruled beyond belief, they're much different live than on recording.
Ugh, their live show is what turned me off of them. Excessively noisy, the drumming was downright obnoxious, and I couldn't hear anything except a layer of noise around everything. Chino was the only good part of the whole thing, except for in between songs when DJ Crook would play some samples. They only have about 4 songs I like, two of which aren't even on their official CD.

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-01-2005 05:54 PM

I've only heard one TS song, and it sounded like Deftones.

Kage...:) I know you're a TS fan.

And my subtle gimme songs hint becomes less subtle

EDIT: Wahah, odd timing.

Kage 11-01-2005 05:58 PM
Kage...:) I know you're a TS fan.
It's between them and System of a Down for best CD of '05. ;)

Anyone heard the TS demo Kool Aid Party? That song rules. It features Mike Patton on vocals. I heard that long before the TS album came out, and I really loved it. Then I got the album and was sorely dissapointed. I thought that when they didn't sound like a copy of Deftones, only less skilled, they were terribly boring. The exception to this would be Tomb Of Leigia and perhaps Crimson Skull or whatever that song is called.

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-01-2005 06:00 PM

I used to think that about APC, but they grew on me. Now I'm in love with The Package.

No gay jokes, please

Dried Muffin Remnants 11-01-2005 06:01 PM

I wonder if Mike Patton sleeps? (no pun intended)

The drumming was downright amazing, man.

I didn't think they were really noisy, but it definitely had a wall-of-sound vibe running throughout.

Seriously, dude. I'd be quite intrigued if him and Dave Grohl did some kind of side project together because it seems like, between both of those guys, they have a hand in every band around. :p

So far everyone else who I've talked to that's seen them live has conflicting reports to mine. Maybe the sound was off at the venue. I don't see what made the drumming amazing, though. Yeah, he played fast and as many notes in one second as he possibly could, but that doesn't constitute amazing to me. I think his drumming both live and on the album completely does not fit with what's going on with the other instruments. Live, I just wanted to shoot the guy in the head and make him stop with his excessiveness. It wasn't even cool, either. Like when the Opeth drummer did a really fast solo, it sounded great. But his crap was just...ANNOYING. Between every song he would pound out this piece of crap drum solo. Then they'd blast into another noisy, feedbacky song and my ears just wanted some peace for two seconds. I also think that Team Sleep as a band tries to be ambient, but doesn't really accomplish it, and the instrumentation isn't near interesting enough to make up for the lack of atmosphere. There's way better music out there that is similar to what I think they're trying to accomplish, but way more well done. Besides, Chino needs to go back to Deftones.

That song blew me away when I first heard it. That album is great.

If she and Beth Gibbons look like how they sound, then I want a three-way with them.

On another note, OPETH ROCKED YO! I liked Nevermore, but the singer, admittedly, had a weak voice on that night.

Opeth did rock, but I'm glad I got to see Pelican with them instead. Pelican was so amazing. Their live show is even better than their record. Oh man, it was great. They stood up very strong against Opeth. Maybe even better.

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-01-2005 06:14 PM

When'd you see Opeth, Kage?

I was at a meeting today, and one of the instructors said mezzanine, and I was like "wtf, that album owns!"

Then she explained what she was talking about, and it had absolutely nothing to do with Massive Attack. Boo.

Dried Muffin Remnants 11-01-2005 06:15 PM

I'm very jealous, Kage; I wanted to see Pelican more than I wanted to see Nevermore. I've never experienced post-rock or post-metal live. But mainly I want to see Isis and Pelican. If Isis tours with Tool then.... 8===D~~~

A lot of interesting discussion tonight, guys... I could talk hours on end about Opeth, Pelican, and the classic album Mezzanine.

A week before I saw Porcupine Tree, so almost two weeks ago. Great show.

 This is my second time seeing Pelican live, and they just blew me away both times. The second time I saw them they were better, simply because they were in a much butter venue with good lighting and everything. Their live sound is totally unreal. During the build up of Last Day of Winter, one of the guitarists used a violin bow on his guitar to create these surreal sounds. And when they broke out...Oh, and the chaotic ending of March Into the Sea was completely amazing. Autumn Into Summer was an orgasm the entire time.

Wootz.

My Sigur Ros shirt came today, finally, two months after ordering it. I'm pretty happy :D
