yeah i see that angle.... but go advertise this to a 15 year old girl. i was under the influence this guy actually liked metallica. not as in "oh the black album is the best, my fav song is nothing else matters" sorta person ...
One of my Friends is a massive 'Tallica fan, yet his favourite song is Nothing Else Matters.
Are you trying to tell me he isn't a "true" fan?

lecky 03-12-2005 09:01 AM

I'm sorry, but did I call you a close minded elitist bastard/true Metallica fan?
No, I think not.
I was referring to people who say that Metallica's true fans only enjoy material from their first three or four albums.

Fraggy 03-12-2005 09:12 AM

sorry man, my bad. too lazy too read all posts....
ignore my comment.

Joe 03-12-2005 09:39 AM

is this whole true metallica fan thing off what i said a few pages back? i'm kinda lost...

if it is, i was only trying to say that if you haven't heard the pre-black albums then you can't call yourself a true metallica fan. one of my favorite songs at the moment is the unforgiven, but im still a true fan because i've heard the previous albums and know that theres more stuff than the major popular cd

It stems from this post:
yeah but as metallica goes its really not good... just coz it was popular with the mass's doesnt put it into the greatest hits list just coz boppers like it. Its all about what real metallica fans appreciate...
Joe 03-12-2005 09:47 AM

oh ok.

so yea now i'm listening to some punk cd my bassist made me

it's a piece of crap. nearly every song sucks.

**turns back to RTL**

Bartender 03-12-2005 09:52 AM

What CD is it he made you listen to?

Joe 03-12-2005 09:54 AM

it's just got a bunch of punk songs. the first is "white riot" and i think it sucks

Bartender 03-12-2005 09:58 AM

By the Clash, or is it a cover?

Chu 03-12-2005 09:59 AM

He was saying he wanted to make himself a Metallica greatest hits, I don't think he's planning on selling his greatest hits album, so it has nothing to do with commercialism...

Just because your favourite song is from Black Album, you can definately still be a Metallica fan, hell you could be a Metallica fan if you only like ReLoad.
I just can't stand Enter Sandman, sorry for starting a flame war about it.

Otherside 03-12-2005 09:59 AM

Punk isn't something that you listen to for technical prowess. If you want to like punk, then your going to want to like punk for the message.

Bartender 03-12-2005 10:02 AM

Not necessarily. Catchiness, rhythm and aggression all come into punk bands I like (not necessarily all at once). I don't really care about the message of much punk music.

Joe 03-12-2005 10:02 AM
By the Clash, or is it a cover?
sounds like its a cover, but it's terrible.

the cd's actually getting a little better. theres some nirvana on here and there are some songs with more than four chords :thumb:

i made my self a greatest hits 84-91 and i liked it a lot. and i like reload too. and im sick of enter sandman, its overplayed everywhere.

i think i need a new greatest hits. i have none of KEA on my current one

Otherside 03-12-2005 10:04 AM

Yes that's true too, but most all-out punks like the music because of the message. I don't really like much punk, but I think the Dead Kennydy's are ace, even if I can never spell their damn name.

munky_magik 03-12-2005 10:04 AM

I find it easy to enjoy punk for the music, not the messages.
Same with most music.

Joe 03-12-2005 10:07 AM

i haven't seen bartender and otherside here in how long?

i'm getting sick of the message. the political punk bands are annoying.

but now theres some SOAD on the cd. the end of the cd is better

Greatest hits is a term used to describe songs that have done well comerically, as in they have done well in the charts and sold very well.
A greatest hits cd is a cd compiled of songs that have been successful.
A best of cd would have the best songs by Metallica on it.

Joe 03-12-2005 10:13 AM

which include enter sandman, one, nothing else matters, master of puppets, fade to black, fuel, st anger, frantic, etc
For a second time this year, a San Antonio man who chanted the chorus to METALLICA's "No Remorse" after fatally shooting a man in the head in Corpus Christi and robbing him of $13 twenty years ago avoided the Texas death chamber when the U.S. Supreme Court stopped his scheduled execution the same day he was supposed to receive a lethal injection.

About 40 minutes after condemned inmate Troy Kunkle could have been put to death Thursday night (Nov. 18), Texas Department of Criminal Justice officials in Huntsville received word the high court had blocked the punishment, the Associated Press reports.

Kunkle was in a small holding cell next to the Texas death house when he received word.

"Ecstatic," Kunkle said when asked to describe his feeling. "Praise God."

"He seemed completely surprised," Michelle Lyons, a Texas prison spokeswoman said.

According to testimony at his capital murder trial, Kunkle was 18 when he fatally shot Stephen Horton, 31, then chanted: "Another day, another death, another sorrow, another breath" — the refrain from the METALLICA song "No Remorse" on an album called "Kill 'Em All". A pool of blood is depicted on the album cover.

"Well, to be honest with you, it was basically just a situation to where it was a juvenile mistake made with juvenile peer pressure," Kunkle, 38, told San Antonio television station KENS Wednesday from death row. "There's nothing about this to be proud of. Really, it's kind of a shame and an embarrassment."

Prosecutors also remembered him at one point playing an air guitar in the courtroom at his trial as lawyers discussed whether the METALLICA song could be admitted into evidence.
I actually didn't see Dave crying, despite what people have said, I saw Lars crying. I could have understood if Dave was crying, but what the **** is Lars crying for?
And Dave has been through alot of ****. I think he has more then enough reason to be angry.
