Christmas time: a season of loving, brotherhood, giving, getting, sharing, and festivity - what better time of the year for a nice big avatar?

Historians believe that Christmas was invented sometime around 783 B.C. by the Bromans, a tribe of people who liked to kick it, drink Natty, play Xbox, and just all around chill. The Bromans felt that the winter was a cold time of the year where everybody was too busy trying to survive to chill. So what did the Bromans do? They came up with a sick holiday!

The wisest Bromans were holding counsel, and Jack Johnson was like, "Bro, if everybody's struggling to survive and freezing to death, that's not chill at all. Why don't we like, help each other out... you know, give each other useful gifts and just chill like we do when we're not freezing." [the Bible, page 514]

The people took Johnson's advice, and exchanged gifts of fitted hats, pre-frayed winter pants, and of course horizontal striped sweaters and festive scarfs. Some even argued that Natty actually helped keep warm, and as usual for the Bromans, much Natty was had.

So in the name of the holiday spirit, can I get this avatar bros?

doesn't it look so much prettier larger?

mappy i give you an f because XBOX DIDN'T EXIST IN 783 BC

i am the robots 11-25-2007 04:17 PM

The Bromans were the most tech tribe back then.

Jom 11-25-2007 04:23 PM

Dude, BCE/CE and BC/AD exist for a reason. You're 783 years behind regarding Christmas. Also, page 514 features no such quote in neither the Old nor the New Testament.

You suck, but here's your avatar.

i am the robots 11-25-2007 04:26 PM

Dude, I'll post screen shots of my bible if you don't believe me.

Anglachel 11-25-2007 04:54 PM

Oh, wow, thanks to whoever gave me my avatar. I was halfway through writing an essay to. I'll post the half anyways.
Christmas time: a season of loving, brotherhood, giving, getting, sharing, and festivity - what better time of the year for a nice big avatar? (i am the robots, musicianforums.com/forums)

Of course, its not like you'd be getting anything in return, which is exactly why you shouldn't be handing avatars out. They were meant for the big boys, and the deserving.

"In Hindu philosophy, an avatar (also spelled as avatara) (Sanskrit: अवतार, avatāra), most commonly refers to the incarnation (bodily manifestation) of a higher being (deva), or the Supreme Being (God) onto planet Earth." (Wikipedia)

Is that not what avatars were supposed to represent on forums, as well? One of higher status; a moderator or administrator. The size of their avatar represents the size of their power, they are gods of the forum. You go against them, and they smite you. Why should I have an avatar when theres close to no chance of me becoming a moderator?

Aside from not being a moderator, do I truly deserve it? With posts consisting of nothing (literally) (Anglachel, musicianforums.com/forums)

I feel the spirit of Christmas is in great abundance here in R&M and am pleased to say that every aspect of the avatar that I'm requesting has been fulfilled from the grace of another.

In the spirit of Christmas... I asked Mappy to edit this picture of Quorthon so that he was wearing a sweet santa hat (which fits him very nicely btw). And Mappy was so kind enough to grant my request. And for one small moment, there was this glimpse of hope that I felt, that maybe I could have what I have desired for so long. A true legend of black metal (metal-archives) as my flagman, confidently guiding me through the barren wasteland of R&M (Black Metal thread). Now, "gods of the forum", (Anglachel 16431) I implore you. Will you find it in your heart to grant me this simple request?

An average grade for an average poster wanting an average avatar.

Just kidding.

Awww thanks Jom, you're such a sweety pie. I still respect you cause you were the mod that 'okayed' my first review. I was quite touched. Hmmm, I still remember your avatar from that time too... it was something with a spaceman on it.

As long as I'm not a sweaty pie, I'm good to go.

And big ups to Riva for having a good memory.

EDIT: And big ups for that awesome old-school Christmas avatar :thumb:

Nostalgia 11-25-2007 06:08 PM

I'd ask for a big avatar, but I don't feel like taking advantage of our exceptional moderator staff.

Anglachel 11-25-2007 07:02 PM

You mean Jom

Permanent Solution 11-25-2007 08:05 PM

Yeah I think Jom is the only one giving them out. Next time I see one that hasn't been approved and is bad I'm giving out a different avatar >:[

Jom 11-25-2007 08:09 PM

Vince why are you spoiling our secret did you forget we are tag team champs

Permanent Solution 11-25-2007 08:12 PM

Oops.

Oh well it's even more fun tag teaming when they know it's coming <_<

The fear is satiable.

pate 11-25-2007 09:04 PM

So all Christmas avs get through for free?

Permanent Solution 11-25-2007 09:05 PM

If you post asking for an avatar, your avatar will be changed.

Nostalgia 11-25-2007 09:05 PM

Change your avatar, Lee. Ffs dude.

>_>

I'll start on an essay then.

pate 11-25-2007 09:33 PM

Pate has been a longtime contributor to R&M. Throughout his time on MX, he has tried to post constructively and avoid arguments.

Pate joined MX in April 2003. He resides at Western Illinois University (MX, 2007). He has 8,416 posts on MX forums, the majority of which are in R&M (Pate, 2007). Unlike many newer users, he spent several months as a lurker both before and after registering, in order to get out much of the initial n00biness. He regularly contributes to a variety of threads, including the Iced Earth, Any Other Death Heads? and Any Other Stoner/Doom Fans? threads. This essay aims to investigate/investipate/invisigoth whether he is fit for this avatar:

http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u112/MAkerfeldt/santaCopy2ofGoeweyReunion7-06012.jpg

Pate has only been banned TWICE during his 4+ years on MX, and once was an April Fool's joke (Pate, 2007). He has been nominated for RMOTM several times, and won in November 2006, and he has un the competition several times (MX, 2007).

In conclusion, it can be seen that Pate is a worthwhile contributor to MX and is worthy of this Christmas-themed avatar.
