i mastered the song and it sounds more clear aside from some peaking at times from elim not eqing it that great.[/QUOTE]

you don't have the original master files

the master files were compressed into a degraded file format

there is not a damn thing you can do to master that degraded file format without further destroying it

NEEDTOPOST 03-11-2012 02:04 AM

not true

btw i am prepared to argue w u

Haz 03-11-2012 02:39 AM

how

if he amplifies the volume or offsets the EQ it affects the entire mix and you have no control over it, it's impossible to fine tune and master correctly

the difference between destructive and non-destructive editing is near enough the first thing they teach you when it comes to tampering with anything professionally whether it's sound, audio or video. you can't do a single thing with a finalised mixdown into two stereo channels with all it's overlapping frequencies without destroying it

BethanyLizard 03-11-2012 04:25 AM

thats nonsense all you have to do to remaster something is add more treble and make it louder

(*The Sacred Chao*) 03-11-2012 04:47 AM

brent can you teach me about remastering to higher bitrates

Haz 03-11-2012 05:04 AM

if you don't do it properly adjusting each track from their source files individually as necessary it fucks with the overall dynamics. It's not just a case of loading an mp3 into an audio editing program, messing with the EQ a little, boosting the volume and saying it's done. This is destructive editing, it's sloppy, introduces artifacts and affects all kinds of frequencies that should be left alone.

(*The Sacred Chao*) 03-11-2012 05:05 AM

which button adds the treble

Haz 03-11-2012 05:20 AM

you need the Korg Treblestation VST RRP $99.95

inside there is a big red button that trebles

(*The Sacred Chao*) 03-11-2012 05:21 AM

if theres too much treble can i just faggot about like brent shannon

(*The Sacred Chao*) 03-11-2012 05:23 AM

how did you do that post

Haz 03-11-2012 05:25 AM

rasputin 03-14-2012 09:06 PM

my band finished recording our demo yesterday, i laid out my guitar tracks and vocal tracks and s'all done. just gotta tidy up the mix and add in a few noise tracks and samples, and it's finito.

witchxrapist 03-14-2012 09:07 PM

shortz 03-14-2012 09:07 PM

rasputin 03-14-2012 09:13 PM

shortz 03-14-2012 09:15 PM

we finished tracking my bands demo, gonna get it mixed and mastered by the end of next week hopefully

we jury rigged a lot of shit but its gonna sound pretty decent for a demo

TommyOfArabia 03-14-2012 11:33 PM

We just recently uploaded my bands EP onto bandcamp.
It's not typically my style but it's decent for what it is and I enjoy playing shows and such.

Not really my type of metalcore but I guess it's the closest thing to a compromise my band could come up with.

I'm interested in hearing it, I liked a few of the jams you've put up here.

How are you finding your shows?

publicastration 03-15-2012 03:14 PM

the 2 guitarists have a lot of connections

we're doing a pittsburgh show next weekend and a weekend tour of maryland jersey and philly the weekend of the 30th

StaffReviewer 03-15-2012 03:15 PM

whats the poitn of getting a demo mastered

publicastration 03-15-2012 03:16 PM

mainly just cause the dude that helped us record wants to mess around with it

and the tracks are pretty good sounding for a demo
