its maybe worth traveling to the midlands today to catch the later broadcast, just to see this story...all you US lads should hop on a plane quick sharp.

The Black Fist 06-23-2006 06:50 AM

hi lod

I have to work in 3.5 hours and I'm running on an hour of sleep, insomnia ftl

overturned 06-23-2006 06:51 AM

I'd stop running and go to sleep for another 3.5 hours, personally.

AA-12 06-23-2006 06:51 AM

I got 3 hours of sleep and I can't eat much lately :(

The Black Fist 06-23-2006 06:55 AM
I'd stop running and go to sleep for another 3.5 hours, personally.
I've been lying in bed trying to sleep for the last 8 hours, sooner or later one just has to give up

kurrpt 06-23-2006 06:57 AM

i absolutely cannot stand that struggle with sleep. Ive learned a while ago, that if i cannot catch a wink, ill just grab my guitar and go from there. Normally after an hour, my eyes get real heavy, and i move in out of consciousness for a while. Id say it lasts about 1.5 hours before im out like a light.

That's usually what I do. Around 6 I got up and decided to try those goddamn This Godless Endeavour arps again. I failed miserably and got really tired so I hit the sack again, only to lie there awake for another two and a half hours.

I hate trying to get to sleep when you just can't- especially when you really need to rest for the next day.

kurrpt 06-23-2006 07:08 AM

you start playing that game with yourself too...

"alright, if i go to sleep NOW, ill have 4 hours of sleep"

....

"If i go to sleep NOW, ill have 2.5 hours..." etc, etc.

as far as the arps go, ive been working on the arps in Final Product. I got em perfect at like 110, which isnt too bad. Im trying to keep them consistent, so im not rushing it at this point

exactly

I never learned any Final Product arps, just the tapping solos... is it the last solo that has the arps in it?

kurrpt 06-23-2006 07:17 AM

well, it goes taps, then string skip skipping, then arps, then string skipping, then arps.

I can actually get the string skipping up to speed. The taps fuk me up when im trying to do it double time. Some days, i get the arps up to 90%, other days, not so much. The consistency wasnt there, so i figured i should just play at the speed thats always comfortable.

I have the tab + video of those Godless Endeavor arps. Maybe ill learn that this weekend

The Black Fist 06-23-2006 07:25 AM

oh yeah, that one harmonized part between the two string skipping bits that I never learned. I thought that was just straight diminished runs.

Do you have a video of Loomis playing the TGE arps (the straight minor/major ones, not the diminished ones)? I've only seen a video of that kid on youtube who can nail them.

Amit 06-23-2006 07:27 AM

advanced metal theorization itt

kurrpt 06-23-2006 07:28 AM

o sh!t, ive never seen that kid you are talking about

yea, i got the video with the guitar world. I think its part 4 where he does those sweeps you are talking about.

And you are right, those arps in final product are all diminished. Loomis uses a very un-orthodox picking pattern, which i wanted to mimic. Not because i whore his nuts or anything, but if it seems weird to me at first, I'm all about making it seem easy.

I think ima go to my brothers place this weekend for some online gaming. Ill try to remember that video, make a fred, and upload it for ya :thumb:

with those videos, they REALLY dont help you master it. For me, its like..

thats probably the most sophisticated thing you've said referring to me..

joke or not

Amit 06-23-2006 07:29 AM

i have found that the less you think about picking techniques the far better you will be

The Black Fist 06-23-2006 07:31 AM
advanced metal theorization itt
Minor, major, AND diminished

this is some srsly intense theory discussion amirite

krup; http://youtube.com/watch?v=20zprLsvOy8 that's the kid, he also nails Psalm of Lydia and some other stuff

fckn prick

kurrpt 06-23-2006 07:34 AM
i have found that the less you think about picking techniques the far better you will be
definitely true. The trick is to make it seem like there is no thinking involved, so as not to confuse your picking hand.

What I try to do is purposely confuse the little mother fukker, and work through the hardships. It seems that im not at 100% when leading with an upstroke, unless im going from a higher string to a lower string (like high e to b, etc)

I tend to learn things both ways (alt, and eco) and see what feels "easier" for me, then ill work on the harder one.

TBF, is there anywhere else i can watch that video. This sh!tty computer doesnt support that flash

Sad But True 06-23-2006 07:36 AM

Arrrgh, actual debates itt. Where's my mndless chit-chat gone?
I noticed you're drinking 1% milk. Is that because you think you're fat? Because you're not, you know, you could be drinking whole.
It's 16th-note triplets at around 150. Yeah that guy's technique wasn't that clean, but he's worlds ahead of me so meh

the kid on youtube's better and he looks like he's like 16

Amit 06-23-2006 07:57 AM

that's only like 7 notes per second

overturned 06-23-2006 07:58 AM

How the hell is that possible, seriously

kurrpt 06-23-2006 07:58 AM

thats not bad at all. I can do some of the "easier" 5 strings at that speed actually.

I say easier because i practice way too much over other shapes.

kurrpt 06-23-2006 08:00 AM
How the hell is that possible, seriously
considering i can consistently do 6 notes a second, i find that easily believeable

No, full cream is, you twat.
How the hell is that possible, seriously
say "the watermelon milkshake" in one second

i've recorded stuff two years ago which ended up being 16-18 nps at peaks

sure it wasn't complicated but not much ever is at those speeds
