Deconstruction 08-07-2006 07:11 PM

Anyone else had an americans abroad hardcopy yet?

AIRIC 08-07-2006 07:47 PM

I don't believe that they don't drink anymore.

Liebensaft 08-07-2006 07:52 PM

I'm sure they do. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they were doing other things too.

edit: I know at least Andrew (bass) drinks, because I remember watching him pick up a can of Budweiser and pretty much chugging it at Warped.

POINTLESS5448 08-07-2006 11:19 PM

what difference does it make if they do or dont anyway?

viva la revolucion 08-07-2006 11:26 PM
i've got an AM interview right in front of me which says they don't drink or nothing anymore?
its only tom and warren that stopped.

The Fonz 08-08-2006 10:18 AM

K, so i saw AM!, at warped. first band i saw. they were really good, a great band to start my day with.
Two songs in someone passes out apparently, and warrent stopped and pointed to them, and the band stopped, and they got pulled out. I think it was just because AM! were so awesome, or they just smoked too much pot.
So that like, made my day, plus i go to see warrens beard, which made me able to die happy.

Edit: If whoever posted that last lyrics thread about "Fuck it up, were gonna Fuck it up"....whoa....whoaa. reads this. yeah, anyway, that was totally sink florida sink. BUt yeah. the thread was closed so i just edited into my post here.

Anarcho Poser 08-08-2006 10:37 AM

Speaking of warren's beard, what's up with andrew's hair?

ChokingVictim 08-09-2006 12:14 AM

Against Me! are at the very top of my favourites list.

Reinventing Axl Rose is an amazing album, and is my favourite. It means a lot to me.
Eternal Cowboy is great too, and is what got me into the band.
Searching For A Former Clarity is pretty good. Obviously different, but has some killer tracks
Earlier EPs are all amazing.

I see them live in five days. I'm so excited.

viva la revolucion 08-09-2006 01:24 AM

Holy **** i saw them at warped today and Tom honestly looks anorexic or on crack. Not even joking. Also by the two new songs they played it looks like theyre made the inevitable last step into just plain rock with no passion or speed.

Johnny Quest. 08-09-2006 04:34 AM

I'm going watching them in about two weeks, and hearing all this stuff about bad new songs and dull sets is worrying me. It's a shame to see how they've gone from Reinventing (one of my favourite albums) to now. Ah well, just have to see how it goes.

ibanezman575 08-09-2006 07:12 AM

seeing them today at warped

AIRIC 08-16-2006 02:30 AM

They were on Jimmy Kimmel live tonight. They played 'From Her Lips..' and 'Problems'.

F'ucking typical. Against Me! are lame as hell now. I wanted to hear them play 'Impact' or 'What We Worked For'.

asdf 08-16-2006 02:51 AM

Hey, it was better than the conan performance.

AIRIC 08-16-2006 03:02 AM

I will agree with that.

manton 08-16-2006 04:16 AM

Are you kidding me? You actually expect them to play two songs that they rarely, if ever, play anymore at regular shows, let alone a show broadcast all across america? Give me a break...It was an awesome performance.

Why are punks so bad at listening to music?

good rats 08-16-2006 05:47 AM

We just don't like listening to **** music.

And against me! has better songs to offer to the american public than problems or dont lose touch.

TakeWarning 08-16-2006 08:45 AM

Those Anarcho Punx Are Mysterious for the win.

Anarcho Poser 08-16-2006 09:42 AM

they had more energy on jimmy kimmel than they did when i saw them at warped.

AIRIC 08-16-2006 11:16 AM

Against Me! up until ATEC played the most passionate and hands down best music I've ever heard. Now they're assholes sellouts. They're sellouts. They suck now. They're new music sucks. SFAFC blows ***. There's no passion. Their new album will blow. Americans Abroad is a horrible song.

This is why they should play their old stuff.

POINTLESS5448 08-16-2006 11:42 AM

they only played one old song when i saw them at warped.
and i agree americans abroad isnt a very good song. i liked atec, not as much as rar but i still liked it. sfafc wasnt anything special i just like miami due to the fact that i live there.

sketchyjoe 08-16-2006 11:56 AM

SFAFC was a standard rock album. Okay if you look at in a vacuum but it pales in comparison compared to all their other stuff, it just doesn't seem to have any emotion behind it, except maybe disenchanted bitterness.

asdf 08-16-2006 12:39 PM

I think even for a standard rock album, it's kind of lacking in the rock department.

Why does every song on the album seem to start slow?

sketchyjoe 08-16-2006 04:52 PM

Because they are.

manton 08-16-2006 04:54 PM

No passion? Just because Tom isn't screaming all the time doesn't mean there isn't any passion. Joy, The Roller, Searching for a former clarity, justin....how can you not see the passion in those songs?! It just baffles me.

I totally agree, man

The reason it seems to lack passion is because the people that listen to it don't like it so it makes it harder to feel it.

sketchyjoe 08-17-2006 06:07 AM

They aren't bad songs, they're a million times better than the crap that passes for rock music today, but compared to ATEC or RAR or Crime they're just boring.

Maybe there is feeling behind some of the songs, but it's no longer an appealing sentiment to me. Justin is a standard political rocker. The Roller is just bitter (and I've got nothing against bitterness, just the fact that here the bitterness is directed solely at their fans who made them what they are, that and the song isn't very good). SFAFC isn't a bad song, but it feels laboured to me. Joy is probably the best song on the album, or at least the one that stays truest to their old image.

If I want a good, catchy modern-rock album, I'll listen to SFAFC. If I want something that moves me and sends shivers down my spine, then I'll look to Crime or ATEC or RAR.

manton 08-18-2006 10:37 PM

Why were sketchyjoe's and my posts deleted?

VacantRegime 08-19-2006 05:32 AM

Their best songs, I'd say, are Sink, Florida, Sink and Jamaican Me Crazy.

Henrik 08-19-2006 06:10 AM

I'm tired of listening to Sink, Florida, Sink. It just got boring somehow.

I listend to Ya'll don't wanna step to dis yesterday... That song is my favorite along with pints of guinness.

TakeWarning 08-19-2006 09:38 AM

I got bored with Sink Florida Sink when we were singing it on our 57th drunken-Against-Me!-sing-a-long.

Teeb 08-19-2006 07:29 PM

I saw Against Me! last moday. They ruled.

Set List (in no order)
Problems
Unprotected Sex with Multiple Partners
From Her Lips to God's Ears
Joy
Don't Lose Touch
TSR
Cliche Guevara
Sink Florida Sink
Rice and Bread
Pints of Guiness Make You Strong
I Still Love You Julie
Those Anarcho Punks Are Mysterious...
Reinventing Axl Rose
Walking is Still Honest
3 new songs

One thing that annoys me about SFAFC is that when Tom does scream, it sounds like he's trying to scream. Before it seemed more just pure passion, and him singing as loud/hard as he could.

Twin Human Highway Flares 08-19-2006 07:52 PM

That is an awesome set list. They got the stuff I have no interest in out of the way before continuing on to the good stuff.

manton 08-19-2006 11:29 PM

uhhh that's not the exact order, it's just the songs they played. Good setlist though.

holy_roller99 08-20-2006 12:34 AM

just got Searching for a Former Clarity. it seems more rockish but is is a good album. gonna buy some more soon what woould you guys recommend?

Pirate Satellite 08-20-2006 12:37 AM

Buy them in reverse order of their release. "Crime" is their best, I think, and then "Reinventing Axl Rose."

holy_roller99 08-20-2006 12:55 AM

i have heard that Reinventing Axl Rose is pretty good. is it more punkish?

obese_breasts 08-20-2006 01:33 AM

It's both more folky and more punk. It's a classic though.

holy_roller99 08-20-2006 01:35 AM

i do like Searching for a Former Clarity though. Especially the title song. it is noce to go to sleep to.

Henrik 08-20-2006 05:26 AM

I you think that searching for a former clarity is good then you really need to listen to the older stuff. It is sooo much better.
Get Reinventing Axl Rose as a starter.

sketchyjoe 08-20-2006 05:28 AM

Then Crime, Acoustic EP and As The Eternal Cowboy.
