Yeah, Necrophag shit has been beaten to death by the DU.

AlienEater 12-04-2006 12:14 PM

Hey they're not called that.

Txus 12-04-2006 01:29 PM

Don't insult Necro plz :)

I always upload bands that haven't been uploaded before

pate 12-04-2006 04:15 PM

What, I just shortened their name

ATM 12-04-2006 06:01 PM

I finally get to see Wino play! Gonna go to a Hidden Hand show.

pate 12-04-2006 06:16 PM

You're lucky.

Nuke Broadcast 12-04-2006 09:24 PM

all this talk of uploading makes me want to submit some items.

Txus 12-04-2006 11:15 PM
What, I just shortened their name
Sorry, I read Necrofag

pate 12-04-2006 11:22 PM

No shit. I was playing innocent, like the Japanese are so good at doing.

the2stranger 12-05-2006 08:28 AM

Damn.
I haven't posted here for ages, or on MX in fact.
So what's new in doom land?
I've been giving Skepticism some more play lately, great funeral doom, I love the sick atmosphere on Farmakon.

I'm also probably seeing Pantheist in ten days.
\m/

rhcp pman 12-05-2006 08:31 AM

Skepticism is beautiful. They play great funeral doom properly.

the2stranger 12-05-2006 08:41 AM

Indeed.
I still need to get Lead And Aether though.

AlienEater 12-05-2006 12:19 PM

the2stranger 12-08-2006 11:33 AM

Wow, this thread can use a serious bump

So what's everyones thougts about te Frsnch funeral doom band Monolithe?
O uploaded a CD by them yesterday for the daily.

I love them.

Daven 12-08-2006 11:35 AM

Monolithe is awesome. I dled the album you sent.

Txus 12-08-2006 11:53 AM

Yeah, they were really good.

Shattered_Future 12-08-2006 12:35 PM

I'll listen to them later...it sparked my interest quite a bit though.

Dr. Jake Destructo 12-08-2006 12:41 PM

I downloaded that Ahab album that Peter uploaded. It was my first real experience with doom and I must say, I was a little dissapointed. :-/ Could have seen it coming though, as it's not exactly my cup of tea to begin with.

Txus 12-08-2006 12:51 PM

It's not traditional Doom though.

Bartender 12-08-2006 02:55 PM

Yeah, listen to some real doom before you write the whole lot off.

Kage 12-08-2006 04:12 PM

I agree with Bartender.

Nostalgia 12-08-2006 04:14 PM

Yeah. Ahab is funeral doom and sound a lot different than most traditional doom bands.

Try Candlemass.

Txus 12-08-2006 04:14 PM

Some good Doom you might want to check, Jake:
Candlemass
St. Vitus
The Gates of Slumber
Isole
Solitude Aeturnus
Solstice
Cathedral

Sleepy 12-08-2006 06:33 PM

Yeah, finally got my hands on that Ahab album; it's good stuff.

I've had Monolithe for a while. That's good as well.

pate 12-08-2006 07:42 PM

I second Mike's list, and add Pentagram to it.

Phototropic 12-09-2006 04:09 AM

I know they ain't really stoner or doom but I'm really getting into Neurosis

ordered A sun that never sets and Souls at zero for christmas

:)

Txus 12-09-2006 09:13 AM

Neurosis are one of my favorite bands. I have A Sun that Never Sets (Japanese Version) :D

Really good album.

the2stranger 12-09-2006 09:18 AM

Hey. :)
The fubneral doom night be a bit too extreme to begin with.
The others mentioned some classic doom, I think that will be easier to get in to.

I am totaly in love with Ahab though.
Great band.
But than again, I love almost every fd band. :p

Txus 12-09-2006 09:20 AM

FD is a really hard genre to get into, once you're in is like cocaine though.

the2stranger 12-09-2006 09:22 AM

Yes it is.
Ahab is my 8th favorite band on last.fm and tha's saying quite something since all their songs are around the ten minute+ mark.

Txus 12-09-2006 09:24 AM

Haha. I don't listen to FD every day but when I do I always enter a serious binge. I listened to Comatose Vigil yesterday :D

the2stranger 12-09-2006 09:29 AM

I might pop that in to my CD player as sleeping music tonight. :D
FD makes me very happy, how strange. :-\

What are your latest FD discoveries Mike?

Txus 12-09-2006 09:36 AM

Haha, FD gives me inner peace for some reason :p

My latest? Probably Of Darkness (30 Minute songs FTW), Source of Deep Shadows and Asunder.

AlienEater 12-09-2006 10:09 AM

Where's a good FD sarting point?

the2stranger 12-09-2006 10:13 AM

Shape Of Despair is pretty good to start with, or early Skepticism (FD pioneers).

AlienEater 12-09-2006 10:24 AM

Alright. I may get them sometime

Txus 12-09-2006 10:26 AM

Also try some Comatose Vigil.

AA-12 12-09-2006 10:27 AM

FD clicked with me the first band I heard, though they aren't 100% FD really.
