In my opinion right now:
The Downward Spiral Year Zero Still/And All That Could Have Been The Fragile Broken With Teeth Pretty Hate Machine Really though, I consider AATCHB, The Fragile, and Broken right at the same level. From Year Zero: The Good Soldier - This track rocks because of the restraint it shows. You keep waiting for an explosion of noise and it never comes and, in this case at least, that's a good thing. Capital G - The staggered vocal delivery of the verses contrast amazingly with the melodic sun chorus. My Violent Heart - The explosion of sound that you didn't get in The Good Soldier is in this track in spades. The Warning - I love the feel of this song as The Presence is introduced, and--my god--that bass line is so damn catchy. The Great Destroyer - Trent hits the highest notes I believe he's ever made, and that explosion in the last half--like a computer suddenly went psycho. I had someone pop his head into my room and ask "What DJ is this?" during this part. In This Twilight - Trent doing vocal acrobatics again, with a great glitchy electronic backing. And as far as creepy instrumentals go, I think The Greater Good and Another Version of the Truth are great. |
Zero Sum is so brilliant.
The chorus chant is so hauntingly depressing. |

They are frivolous. And I don't see why it's so hard for you to accept that I am unimpressed. |
so level with me...do you all think year zero was that good? i haven't really read the thread but everywhere i go it is getting praise.
|
I like it more than any other NIN album I've heard.

"frivolous" rofl. gg man. |
I don't inderstand the humour in frivolous!
|
The only people who are unimpressed are the kind who like to deprive themselves of joining in on fun just to prove how hard they are to impress.

Yes, it really is that good. I'm loving this album even more with each listen. And if you really read into the whole concept and stuff, it gets even better..or at least it did for me. For me, it's still not up to par with TDS and has a long way to go to even get close to it..but that's just me. I've always and probably will forever love TDS. :p Edit: Also, to go along with this whole concept, NIN played a secret show last night in L.A. A bunch of people got called and were asked to meet at some location. They had a short meeting and were then rushed to this dark room where the band came out and played for a while before the place was raided by some SWAT team. I think it's awesome that NIN is taking all this to another level..something different. Anyway, here's the page where you can watch the video of last night's meeting/show. http://www.opensourceresistance.net/ Lucky bastards! |
The Fragile is still NIN best release.
|
This is now a solid second placer behind The Fragile.
Last three tracks are my favorites, which is rather convenient. Zero Sum is probably the second best apocalypse song ever, behind Collapse The Light Into Earth. |
It isnt as good as downward spiral for me, so it sits about tthird in the list of NIN releases.
|
^Yeah, same here...TDS-->TF-->YZ
And that's only not counting 'Still'. Otherwise, Year Zero would 4th. Who knows though..it might end up changing and moving up later. |

Just whilst everyone else is doing this,
TDS > YZ > PHM > TF > WT For me. |
It's been too long since I've heard the older albums to judge.
|
TF>>>>Still>>AATCHB>WT.TDS>PHM>the various remix cds
Year Zero I don't know because i haven't heard it all yet, seriously someone convince me why i should buy this album |
Pretty Hate Machine > The Downward Spiral > Year Zero > Broken > With Teeth > The Fragile
Nine Inch Nails have been my favorite for nearly a decade now (Metal -wise) Year Zero completely exceeded expectations. I thought it would be bad without another year of work or so, but it's awesome. |
I agree man. By far my highest expected album of this year.
It owns on PT's Fear of the Blank Planet mang... |
Hey guys, posted in here a while ago saying first I really listened/saw of NIN was on the Beside You In Time DVD.
Anywho, aquired Year Zero today, and I must say, it's great! Although I can't compare it to any other albums as I have no listened to them. :p |
Well get the rest then.
|
I listened through The Fragile for the first time in a while, and I must say there is not one bad song on the first disc.
The Great Below is, well, great. :p |
You're right, Fragile Left is kickass. All good songs.
I really want to learn The Frail. |
Just Like You Imagined kicks ***! That's my favorite track off The Fragile..actually, it's probably one of my all time favorite NIN songs.
|
You're right, Fragile Left is kickass. All good songs.

Pretty Hate Machine still remains their best, IMHO.
|
Just Like You Imagined is so crazy. Everytime I hear it I want to kick some ass. And I have it as one of my ringtones too
|
^Nice! I have Head Like A Hole as one of my ringtones.
And I also have Terrible Lie somewhere on my phone..but it sucks. |
Yeah, it's crazy what Trent went through to make that album, Halo 2.
|

The Great Below is, well, great. :p
Agreed, disc 1 - 10/10, disc 2 - 7/10. |

|
^It does. And I'm really digging Capital G right now...I also just read that it's gonna be the next single.
|
Nice one! I look forward to the video they do for it.
|
This new albums not really doing it for me...
It seems very average. I'll give it a bit more time but i don't see the hype. |

|
So does your ***.
|
wow this band sucks hot sause
Banned, nuff said. |
:).
|
yey!! i will be seeing nin at reading this year :)
|
Listening to Pretty Hate Machine, this and The Downward Spiral are the only two albums that have really clicked nicely with me. Year Zero is taking a bit to sink in, and I haven't heard the Fragile or With Teeth because i've been told not to bother.
