*phew!* i was gonna say...if you put somewhere in time that low on your list we'd have a problem! :thumb: lol.

Gurs, do you play an instrument? if so what Maiden songs do you know?

ashman 08-07-2004 03:08 PM
...and, ashman, believe it or not living in donnington and living in the uk are SLIGHTLY different things 0_o
I know, but that post was aimed at a guy who (I think) lives in the US, and living in the UK is a whole lot closer to donington then living in the US...

I think infinite dreams is one of the best songs ever, and i love SSOASS 'cos the whole album is like story type thing......im sure its in here somewhere a couple of hunred pages back :thumb:

GurS 08-07-2004 03:57 PM

frail, read my min-title

actually, it's wrong, i play 13 (i mis counted)

FrailandBedazzled1979 08-08-2004 12:04 AM

haha well then!!! do you know any Maiden songs on any instruments? i can play bass and guitar very very well, and keyboards preety well. :)

Facsimile 08-08-2004 04:40 AM

I would rank SSOASS as

1. Moonchild
2. Infinite Dreams
3. The Clairvoyant
4. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
5. The Evil that Men Do
6. Can I Play With Madness
7. Only the Good Die Young
8. The Prophecy

Although SSOASS is number four, the bit in the middle with the quiet-buildup part is incredible, and is my favourite piece of music I have ever heard. But the start of the song kind of lets it fall to number four.

GurS 08-08-2004 05:03 AM

well, i don't know much maiden on bass, and that which i've learnt i've forgotten (i haven't REALLY played bass in nearly a year)

guitar, i know quite a lot of the songs, but not the solos (my time is spread between 4 or 5 instruments, so generally i don't have enough time/patience to learn the solos, the only one i've learnt is the 2nd one in blood brothers)

drums, i only know flight of icarus, running free and the mercenary (due to nicko being so **** good at drums, a lot of his fills etc. are hard to emulate)

iron giosba 08-08-2004 06:21 AM

this is my classific but it is very difficult to put a iron's song last

1. The Clairvoyant
2. Infinite Dreams
3. Can I Play With Madness
4. The Evil that Men Do
5. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
6. moonchild
7. The Prophecy
8. Only the Good Die Young

Thunder Fingers 08-08-2004 10:54 AM
i only got PoM a few days ago... it'll grow on me, i'm sure
when i bought that album i used to really dislike it...but in time it has become one of my favourites. So many WONDERFUL timeless Maiden tracks "sun and steel" "die with your boots on" "revelations" "still life" etc...its just phenominal...i know some songs on there have never been played live (sun and steel, quest for fire, and to tame a land very very few times but no recording of it) but the majority of the album are concert favourites...hell they did 3 in a row on the "give'em ed till im dead tour" last summer!! \m/

Exelent Album, could have good of another remaster in my opinion though, but hey, who cares about the sound of the album? Exellent songs! :D

Thunder Fingers 08-08-2004 01:22 PM

can someone explain to me what happens on "live at donnigton"? Bruce says somthing like "Yes, Rockfans, but who are they afterall" and "yes, thank you, Go away!" in the middle of "heaven Can wait" i got to get the video from that! :p

GurS 08-08-2004 02:21 PM

er... no explanation

FrailandBedazzled1979 08-08-2004 03:15 PM
Exelent Album, could have good of another remaster in my opinion though, but hey, who cares about the sound of the album? Exellent songs! :D
Steve's bass lines on there are phenoinal but that has his worst tone of all the albums, he has it at a much lower register as opposed to his usual high treble metallic clang that we all know and love, id like to hear it redone like that...but i dont let it get to me :)

YDload 08-08-2004 03:54 PM

I think the tone on Piece of Mind really works, especially when it emphasizes the octaves in "Flight of Icarus."

GurS 08-09-2004 02:40 AM

notice that PoM is the only maiden album without a titletrack

FrailandBedazzled1979 08-09-2004 03:16 AM

^^^^

The X Factor and Virtual XI as well

Thunder Fingers 08-09-2004 10:02 AM
notice that PoM is the only maiden album without a titletrack
i guess "still life" can kinda work as an title track... the "We'll Give you peace of mind"

hendrix's_offspring 08-09-2004 10:06 AM

i went 2 dod tour-f*ckin amazin

no more lies= best track of all time

best of the beast is a gud album

The Mercenary 08-09-2004 01:16 PM

are there any plans for maiden to release a live 'rock in rio' style album sometime with the DoD stuff on, i havnet managed to see them live this year.....

GurS 08-09-2004 02:42 PM

I don't think so :(

No More Lies EP video is most likely the closest you'll get, except bootlegs

Thunder Fingers 08-09-2004 02:45 PM
are there any plans for maiden to release a live 'rock in rio' style album sometime with the DoD stuff on, i havnet managed to see them live this year.....
bootlegs... if they where to release an new tour album every tour they would be considered "Metallicaish" (in the lack of an better word...)

gurs: regarding the post in steve harris/cliff burton thread, Have i ever said that i love you? :p

GurS 08-09-2004 02:51 PM

:D

cheers

new topic: bruce with long hair vs. bruce with short hair

peruviantrooper 08-09-2004 05:28 PM

Bruce with long hair is so cooler... Hmm well some people say you lose soem of your ability when you cut your hair.. But Bruce is still excellent!

FrailandBedazzled1979 08-09-2004 07:14 PM

^^^

i have the longest of long hair and it dosen't make you any more talented than if your hair is as short as a buisness man. He had long hair for 20 years, and i know how **** annoying it is in every aspect of life and all the work you have to do to keep up with it...i dont blame him for cutting it.

Thunder Fingers 08-10-2004 05:15 AM

the hair dresser who cut him was named errol..... :p
