No, I haven't been able to get on to MX all day until now |
I haven't been let on since last night
Oh! You guys! I saw the funniest thing today: I was in an antique store and there was this really strange black and white photo in a frame on a wall. The picture was of three people in civil war clothing, one man in a suit with mutton-chop side burns (v. 1870's), an asian guy in a civil war uniform, and a very very ugly woman with a big nose(shockingly ugly) in a southern-belle sort of dress fanning herself and smiling coyly at the camera. What does this have to do with the Beatles, you may ask? Well, the asian guy in the uniform looked sort of familiar, maybe like Yoko Ono, and then I looked again at the lady in the dress and realized it was John Lennon, at which point I shreiked with laughter, causing people to stare. I guess it was an original photo, and it cost $1200 so my guess is it was pretty rare
Classic, lol, Did the other man have any relation to Yoko or John? another beatle maybe. |
Naw, he was some random, his name was on the tag but I don't remeber it
|
Hehehe... thats a funny picture. I think it would be cool to have.

keeping the forum rolling, i'm sure we have all heard some Amazing Beatle's covers, and quite frankly some covers that are really ****e,
What are some amazing Beatles covers that you have heard? And what are some ****e Beatles Covers that you have Heard? Great Beatles Covers i have heard: Oasis covered I am the Walrus, Live, a feat in its self i think is a amazing seen alot of the Beatles later Stuff was designed so it couldnt be performed live and Oasis did it f-ing brilliantly. Rufus Wainright, Moby and i think Sean Lennon covered Across the Universe, extremely well at the 9/11 John Lennon Tribute Concert. Stone Temple Piolets, Revolution. The Vines, I'm Only Sleeping. Some ****e Beatles Covers: Craig Davids covered Come together, and absolutley f-ing pulled it apart, and ripped it to shreds, he added a section of his own which was a god **** crap for fuks sake. Michael Jackson has covered many Beatles songs, and his voice is WAY to poppy to be singing any of the Beatles stuff, it ruins it for me to hear his voice in Come Together or Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Kid Rock - Come Together, and there is probably many more, give us your imput and post some more good or badly done beatles covers. |
Jet - Look what you've done is pretty much a beatles cover.
Look what you've done
Ah, look what you've done, you've made a fool of everyone.
The beatles - Sexie Sadie (white album)
Sexie Sadie, look what you've done, you've made a fool of everyone.
|
The Vines - I'm Only Sleeping, why did they bother.
|
Clown Phobia, having the same lyrics doesn't make a song a cover. If the music is the same, sure, but one line of lyrics being similar doesn't equal a cover.
ringo stars a bad drummer though.....im sorry but it had to be said
I don't think he's a bad drummer, just not anything special. He does have one excuse though, he had to keep a steady beat during the touring period or else the songs might have just crumbled since no one could hear himself. |
Ive heard of the Dirty Mac, but that was a while ago...i just disregarded it since i had no idea what it ever was.
Ringo is defintaly not the best drummer, defintaly doesnt suck for whoever thinks that (you just cant go crazy on a set for a band like the beatles), but is by far, one of the most inspirational without doubt |
This might be old news, but I just found out that McCartney is touring North America next fall. The tour schedule should be announced on the last week of February. When he comes to NY:
I'M DEFINITLEY GOING NO MATTER WHAT. |
Next fall? As in fall 2005 or fall 2006? I'll probably get tickets, if I can.
|
Fall '05
I'm sure that every concert will sell out, so you better get em early. |
Fall '05
I'm sure that every concert will sell out, so you better get em early.
Oh yeah they sell out in 10 minutes. When we went in October '02, we had to go to our friend's house and use their DSL and has like ten windows open so we could get a chance at some good seats. To the person who said Ringo Starr sucks as a drummer, well....no I won't be a newb punk kid and say fuck you. So instead I'll say.... F*U*C*K YOU! Anyway, if you really think about it, were The Beatles' really that great at any of their instrumetns? Not too great (except maybe Paul on bass) compared to lots of other people, but is that really the point? No. They made badass music, and it sounded good. So in the end, thats what matters. Personally (and I'm a drummer for those of you who don't know me) Ringo's drum sound on Abbey Road is the best drum sound of all time. No question about it. And the licks that he does on those great sounding toms sounds so wonderful. And that's why The Beatle's are the greatest band of all time. |
^Word up
ringo stars a bad drummer though.....im sorry but it had to be said
I beg to differ on this statement. I believe from my knowledge that Ringo is a solid, extremely reliable drummer and if you listened to any of the Beatles music you would realise that he is a great drummer who uses his skill to best effect especially in their post 1965 material, he plays a great sound and displays good technique for the music he plays. Ringo is a class act. |
Any of you know of The Dirty Mac?
Yes!, i downloaded a 7 min clip of the rolling sotnes R and R Circus, and it was a clip of them playing "Yer Blues" all i have to say is F-ING AWESOME line up, can you tell me more places i can get clips or CD's of them? As to the people who said Ringo Starr wasnt a good drummer i say: Ringo Starr wasnt The Bestt drummer, but he had a f-ing awesome style, he didnt overdo the Tom Toms, and concentrated mainly on the snare, hit hat, crash symbols and Bass drum. A style which Perfectly fitted the beatles, Plus Ringo added alot of "X" factor to the Beatles, the band Oasis ( a band HEAVILY influenced by the Beatles), Their original drummer couldnt even keep time and they still had the most Succesful Debut Albumn for the last 15 years. {if you like the beatles you should listen to some of their stuff} And to the Person who said Paul McCartney was the only one of the beatles really fantastic at their Instrument, George Harrison IMO is about the 5th Best Guitarest yet,and i think Harrison was very, very, very bloody Underated. but i half agree with you in the sence that "They Could be Better" but its not their talent that got them to the top, its the songs they produced.so youn knjow it doesnt mater how talented they were at their individual instrument. |
Yikes. Sgt. Joker, you have good ideas, but would it kill you to be a bit more precise with your typing?
I like Ringo's drumming. It's not fancy, but fits well with the music. Ten minute drum solos don't fit in with the Beatles style. I am definitely getting tickets to that Paul McCartney show, even if I have to sell my liver for it. |
I've never seen any clips of The Dirty Mac. I want to so bad.
The Dirty Mac lineup: John Lennon-rythm guitar/vocals Eric Clapton-lead guitar Keith Richards-bass Mitch Mitchell-drums |
Wow, that's impressive
Deus, I will out bid you with a liver AND a kidney. So how was that cover of "Acress the Universe" on the grammies? |
I've never seen any clips of The Dirty Mac. I want to so bad.
The Dirty Mac lineup: John Lennon-rythm guitar/vocals Eric Clapton-lead guitar Keith Richards-bass Mitch Mitchell-drums
Go to www.downloads.com and search for "Limewire" download that, then in videos, search "The Rock and Roll Circus" or "Dirty Mac" or even "John Lennon and it should come up with 2 hits, the Hit is probably the Names of the band members (J.L, K.R, E.C, M.M) its a clip of about 7mins and it is very, very, very impressive. (the clip is of Dirty Mac playing "Yer Blues") Be carefull to look at the file size, if the Hit is exactly what you typed into search and is only 100 odd Kbs big its some kind of a dodgey virus or file. ALT. buy the dvd of the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll circus. (Sorry Deus, and all who can't stand my lack of gramma and what have you, i'll read of my posts more carefully.) |
Wow, that's impressive
Deus, I will out bid you with a liver AND a kidney. So how was that cover of "Acress the Universe" on the grammies?
I didn't see the Across the Universe cover. I decided to boycott the grammies when I learned that neither Norah Jones or Brian Wilson were nominated for best album. I'll sell my liver, kidney, and left testicle for tickets to that show. |
