Aaaah so the source of all evil is Rolling Stones heh?
I was always wondering what musical "authority" was popular enough to actually start trends with terms |
I know Guitar World's top 10 screamo albums had me tricked.
|
I was just reading in Rolling Stone and they said.. Hawthorne Heights I believe it was, was Screamo. It was either them or The Used. Either band being called Screamo is just as bad.
Who were Guitar World's top 10 screamo albums? I am thoroughly intrigued. |
1. Rites Of Spring- Rites Of Spring (off to a good start)
2. Quicksand- Slip 3. Refused- The Shape Of Punk To Come 4. Fugazi- In On The Kill Taker 5. Thursday- Full Collapse 6. Sunny Day Real Estate- Diary (I don't think they even scream on this album) 7. At The Drive-In- The Relationship Of Command 8. Poison The Well- The Opposite Of December 9. Glassjaw- Worship And Tribute 10. Boysetsfire- Ater The Eulogy Though they started off good, it ended up just being a list of bands that used screaming. |

okay, thanks |

So what the **** are Quicksand doing on that list? Slint, alright, but Quicksand?? I've heard people dub Slint 'emo,' which is sort of okay, when I listen to Spiderland I hear the 'emo' connection with all the arpeggios and spoken word stuff, but calling Quicksand screamo or even emo is tantemount to murder. |
It was a strange list. But it had me thinking I was the ultimate screamo fan.
|
as much as i love at the drive-in, to call them a screamo band seems very silly to me. in fact, calling any of the bands there screamo seems a tad odd.
i am aware everyone else has said this. but i thought i'd say it anyway. |
I agree with captain.
I've a question for torn. Did you pick your username because you like Yaphet Kotto a lot? I know it's a song by them. Just curious. |

SGlove- Yeah, I'm a big fan!
|
Sweet!
I really enjoy them. I was wondering if you had their whole discography because I've only been successful in obtaining four of their songs. |
Interpunk has three of their albums. (I think they're all EPs)
EDIT: Nope, all full-lengths. That's very cheap. |
Killswitch Engage
Mastodon Alexisonfire are my favs |

Before that there was a demo, obviously. 'The Killer Was in the Government Blankets' LP on Ebullition. 'Syncopated Synthetic Laments for Love' LP on Ebullition. 'We Bury Our Dead Alive' LP on Ebullition. S/t 7" (Usual Suspects b/w Acoording to History) on Council. Split 7" with Suicide Nation on Council. Euro tour 12" on Scene Police. |
ANNND split CD with Envy, This Machine Kills on Sonzai.
LP in the works on Golden Brown. |
Mastodon is such a terrible band. They should break up.
|
Mastodon is such a terrible band. They should break up.
Not true. They may not have any place in this forum, but they are a metal band that has resurrected the one thing the genre has been lacking lately: kickass band/song/album names. "Crusher Destroyer," "Where Strides the Behemoth," "Elephant Man," "I Am Ahab"... they all have a certain metallic charm to them. |

And all of them blow. |

They're not that bad. I don't love 'em, but some of their stuff's okay. That Merrick song did suck though. |
Mastodon sucks REAL bad. Redneck metal is stupid.
|
sweet.
the pine is playing here on may 9th with HELLA. i'm excited. the pine should play here more often since they're from here. |
Mastodon sucks REAL bad. Redneck metal is stupid.
I'm sorry, I must have missed the Jeff Foxworthy routine where he talks about Moby Dick and the elephant man. |
Mastodon sucks REAL bad. Redneck metal is stupid.
No, you just don't get them. If you were into metal or musicianship, you'd be able to see they're talented. I'm not a huge fan, but I like them and saying they suck or that they're "redneck metal" is complete and utter stupidity. |
Well, i barely came upon this forum, yeah i know, and seeing that you ppl are looking for suggestions i suggest you stop listening to "emo" and "screamo" First of all "screamo" is not even real music, anyone can make a song and just scream into a mic in a very high girlike voice. the same with emo. its just untalented ppl "making" new music, in reality butchering it. so start listening to some real music and leave the crap.

Long Live Grunge/Alternative and Metal, real Metal
|
You listen to garbage and don't know shit. Any real metalhead would kick your ass. How about you stop trying to impress other 10th graders by playing every track off Nevermind on your $50 generic brand acoustic guitar, stop beating off to Master of Puppets, and listen to Spawn of Possession, faggot. Then we can talk REAL metal.
|
Why did that kid even bother mentioning grunge? What a horrible genre.
