About Jimi, i reckon some of his hardest stuff lay in his Rythem, not his lead. Like Fire (love that song), listen to the rythem in that, its so... wierd, the chorus, totally Jimi.

DVG.

jpj 01-26-2005 06:49 PM

He played harmonica on Spoonful and I'm pretty sure he played piano on Wrapping Papers. I don't know what else.

magicbus 01-26-2005 06:49 PM

Ahem: Bass guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, organ, harmonica, cello and vocals.

Might be more, not sure.

jpj 01-26-2005 06:49 PM

What song did he play cello on?

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 01-26-2005 06:49 PM

I am a she...someone referred to me as a he..just clearing that up.

What other instruments did Bruce play?

magicbus 01-26-2005 06:56 PM

Deserted Cities of the Heart has cello on it.

Agreed. That's really hard to play. Lots of his solos are much easier to play than that part.

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 01-26-2005 07:01 PM

Thanks everyone! I've got to go eat dinner now. Bye!

lunch998 01-26-2005 07:08 PM

He plays great Harmonica leads on Rollin' and Tumblin' and Cat's Squirrel.

Edit: About Jack Bruce.

Distant Echoes 01-26-2005 07:15 PM

I think harmonica is very underated...a lot of great stuff comes outta them in alot of good songs, and its defintaly not as easy as it sounds, though the fact that its all already on the musical scale for you makes it much easier on the ears when anybody tries to play it

There some good Harmonica moments in Classic rock.

magicbus 01-26-2005 07:18 PM

Yea I still haven't picked one up. More concentrated on convincing my mom to let me get my new guitar.

What kind of guitar do you want?

Johnny B. Good 01-26-2005 07:22 PM
There some good Harmonica moments in Classic rock.
Namely Bob Dylan

lunch998 01-26-2005 07:24 PM

Who do you think did the best cover of Johnny B. Goode? The Grateful Dead's version is stuck in my head right now.

Johnny B. Good 01-26-2005 07:27 PM

Michael J. Fox did the best cover :D

PinkFreud 01-26-2005 07:32 PM
Who do you think did the best cover of Johnny B. Goode? The Grateful Dead's version is stuck in my head right now.
hendrix's is the most fun to listen to for me.

magicbus 01-26-2005 07:34 PM
What kind of guitar do you want?
Fender American Strat. Close to $880, but I can get it a hundred bucks cheaper through my music place.
hendrix's is the most fun to listen to for me.
Yea he did a great cover of it.

Johnny B. Good 01-26-2005 07:35 PM

I like the original Johnny by Chuck Berry

My friend has one, I think it's a great guitar. Not that I know anything about guitars.

magicbus 01-26-2005 07:39 PM

Yea its built really good, and it plays like a dream. Plus with the single pups, I can get the tone I'm looking for. My guitar right now has humbuckers, and they suck.

Distant Echoes 01-26-2005 07:40 PM

I cant stand strats...they have such horrible feel and sound for playing with All The Time. If i thought i might need it for a few songs, i wouldnt hesitate, but it would never be the relic of any of my guitars.

BludgeonySteve 01-26-2005 07:41 PM

I have an American Strat HSS. It's my dream guitar and it only cost $1100. That's a pretty good price for a dream guitar.

clown_phobia 01-26-2005 07:42 PM

I love the Les Paul tone. Right now I play a strat copy.

Johnny B. Good 01-26-2005 07:43 PM

Man I need a new guitar.

But that's where the tone is! (echoes, soycd, etc!)
Man I need a new guitar.
join the club. I cant stand feedback or that loose buzzing sound from the wire to the guitar...that a feature of cheapness.

Im thinkin of the SG, cause i didnt know they were only $650 bucks till a few months ago, and i heard their much easier to access to bottom frets, and lighter then a les paul.

and how many frets does an SG have? im really lookin for 23, but ill be glad to just have the guitar

I also need a new amp. Mine died and I've been using my bass amp, it makes the guitar sound even worse than it already does :upset:

lunch998 01-26-2005 07:51 PM

Drums>Guitar.

Distant Echoes 01-26-2005 07:51 PM

I wouldve said 'though gilmour can really put that thing into effect in his songs', but i didnt want to get back on the topic of Floyd. Im already actively posting the the 'official' thread now, but yeah, it sounds better slowhand rather then sloppy hendrix style.

but i couldnt imagine a band that already uses them without one-or the infamous telecaster

If you're musically retarded.
Man I need a new guitar.
Same here, man. I am using a Yamaha Pacifica right now, and it leaves a lot to be desired. I am looking at some strats for my next guitar.

Distant Echoes 01-26-2005 07:53 PM

To lunch
playing drums defintaly beats the hell out of guitar, but id rather listen to a guitar solo then a drum solo...sorry bud, but as a drummer and guitarist myself, playing drums defintaly kicks guitars ***, its easier, louder, more intense, and quite frankly, you guitarist would be nowere without us.

I just totally complimented and bashed myself right there...

Shutup and go back to your bass-player corner of the stage.

What do you call a guy that hangs around with musicians?

Yea that was interesting how you contradicted yourself a few times, but I agree with what you said.

What's the matter with bass?

lunch998 01-26-2005 07:55 PM
What's the matter with bass?
Nothing at all, as a drummer I love nothing more than a good bassist. I was just lashing back because JPJ called drummers(me) musically retarded.

Guitar adds more to the song than drums.
