Me too, sort of...although the best feeling ever is buying a new album when you barely know any of the music on it, and discovering it all on the actual CD/vinyl. Downloading first takes away from that.
True.

Stoo 08-16-2006 08:27 PM

I bought every Opeth album without knowing the songs.

Except Bleak. It's the only song I downloaded before buying the CD's.

NP - Bleak... *cums*

i am the robots 08-16-2006 08:30 PM

I bought Morningrise without ever hearing Opeth before, I was quite impressed.

Stoo 08-16-2006 08:34 PM

What order did everyone buy the albums?

Intresting new subject for a list...

I think mines was:

Blackwater Park
Ghost Reveries (It seemed like the obvious choice, as it came out like a week after I bought BP.)
Still Life
Morningrise and My Arms, You're Hearse. (Same shop, same day obv)
Orchid
Damnation amd Deliverance. (Recieved through the post on same day)

Stormrider 08-16-2006 08:35 PM

Morningrise
Still Life

That's it for me so far, unfortuntely.

Stoo 08-16-2006 08:39 PM

what the hell are you thinking?!! GET THEM!

:smoke:

Stormrider 08-16-2006 08:40 PM

I will, I will...

...with time. :p

NP Blind Guardian - A Dark Passage

Kreator2112 08-16-2006 08:41 PM

I have BP. I bought that the day it was released.

Stoo 08-16-2006 08:42 PM

hehe

pate 08-16-2006 08:58 PM

Order of purchase:
1. BWP
2. Deliverence
3. Damnation
4. SL/MR at same time

I obtained the rest through 'other' means, until I get more funding.

Job ftw. :thumb:

The only one I need is Morningrise, but I'm having trouble finding it.

pate 08-17-2006 12:40 AM

A friend of mine picked SL and MR up for me when he was vacationing in Arizona, so I have no idea how hard they would be able to find anywhere else.

Drunken Viking 08-17-2006 12:40 AM

I've really been getting into Opeth since I bought Blackwater Park and Orchid a few days ago. Blackwater being my favorite of the two, but I can't stop listening to In The Mist She Was Standing, it's just so awesome. Mikael is an amazing sonwriter.

Darkness 08-17-2006 12:41 AM

If you like both those, step it up a notch and get Morningrise and Still Life. :D

pate 08-17-2006 12:46 AM

My favorite is BWP, but I have no reasons to back up why I like it more. :)

SL is number 2 though.

Drunken Viking 08-17-2006 12:46 AM

I'm getting My Arms You Hearse right now, I'm expecting big things.

pate 08-17-2006 12:54 AM

It's very, very good.

Tyr 08-17-2006 08:22 AM

Hmmm, order of purchasing....

1. Deliverance
2. Damnation
3. My Arms, Your Hearse
4. Ghost Reveries
5. Still Life
6. Orchid
7. Morningrise
8. Blackwater Park

BWP was very hard to find, I wanted to buy it sooner, but...

Stoo 08-17-2006 09:47 AM

I found Damnation and Deliverance hardest to find. Then Blackwater Park, even though it was the first one I got and found it in the shop straight away. That was the only time I've seen BP in a shop.

JamJar 08-17-2006 10:22 AM

The only two Opeth albums I can regularly find are Ghost Reveries and Still Life. I've seen all the over albums once or twice but I don't think I've ever found Damnation.

Txus 08-18-2006 07:31 PM

I bought:

1. BWP
2. Deliverance and Damnation
3. Morningrise, MAYH and Orchid
4. Still Life
5. Ghost Reveries

Alex 08-18-2006 09:11 PM

BWP = best album ever concieved, its amazing. pure genious

eighty d 08-18-2006 09:17 PM

BWP is actually my least favorite of all the newer Opeth releases (Still Life - present). It starts out so good, Leper Affinity, Bleak, Harvest and The Drapery Falls are four of my absolute favorite Opeth songs. Then Dirge For November, with IMO the single worst intro to any Opeth song. After that the album just loses me until the title track.

TojesDolan 08-18-2006 09:38 PM

Hmmm. Let's see.

Order of Purchase:

1. Ghost Reveries (Purchased)
2. Deliverance (Purchased)
3. My Arms, Your Hearse (To purchase, aimed and shi)
4. Morningrise (To purchase, aimed and shi)
5. Still Life (Haven't seen it)
6. Blackwater Park (seen it, too expensive)
7. Orchid (Haven't seen it)
8. Damnation (Haven't seen it)

The order is pretty much preferences. Depends on my mood with Blackwater Park. "Dirge for November" has its ups and downs with me, but I prefer to skip it, usually.

Daven 08-18-2006 10:53 PM

Shattered_Future 08-18-2006 10:58 PM

I've seen it sometimes, but it's strangely expensive.

Darkness 08-18-2006 11:35 PM

My Orchid was 30 dollars Canadian, at HMV.

i am the robots 08-19-2006 12:21 AM

My Orchid was $15 at FYE .

Nostalgia 08-19-2006 12:40 AM

Haha, sounds like we're talking about the flower. I bought minf for $17 and FYE. FYE has tons of good CDs, but are so overpriced.
