This thread needs more Van Drunen. Had some work to do last night - Mrs Jondur was ill so went to bed early so I cranked up the stereo with some Asphyx and had a whale of a time. I reckon I'd enjoy work if I could have death metal on full volume all the time.

New Psycroptic song up on their myspace, listening now.

Angmar 08-20-2008 10:50 AM

Van Drunen slays, I should get some Asphyx.
**** off riff discrimination
agreeeeeeeeeeeeeed

I played Hornets of the Pogrom (album) in my head in its entirety at work today. It was an otherwise boring day.

FatalEnergy 08-20-2008 02:04 PM
Van Drunen slays, I should get some Asphyx.
Do it.

Apparently they're going to record a new album.

masscows 08-20-2008 02:07 PM

yeah I heard about that too, the single they released from it is pretty decent

song title is something stupid like 'death the brutal way' though

botb 08-20-2008 02:36 PM

can't wait for some new living sacrifice

FatalEnergy 08-20-2008 03:51 PM

Ass-fix kills!

Angmar 08-20-2008 03:51 PM

Should I start with The Rack?

FatalEnergy 08-20-2008 03:56 PM

Yeah

Listening to some Napalm Death.

I haven't in quite a while.

Angmar 08-20-2008 03:57 PM

Thanks brohan!

FatalEnergy 08-20-2008 05:32 PM

Just got that new single.

I like how they do the Celtic Frost cover. I'm surprised that they decided to something off of Monotheist rather than an old classic.

Death the Brutal Way is a pretty cool song too.

masscows 08-20-2008 05:33 PM

I havent heard the Celtic Frost cover though the song they covered is good

rasputin 08-20-2008 07:08 PM

Which Bolt Thrower album should I start with?

(Immolation - Close to a World Below really is ****ing amazing. The drumming is ridiculously good).

Angmar 08-20-2008 07:09 PM

Hell yeah, he's definitely the standout musician on that album.

As for Bolt Thrower start with War Master for something a little more old school sounding or Those Once Loyal for newish stuff.

keyboardxmosh 08-20-2008 07:10 PM
Suicide Commando FTW
agreed

masscows 08-20-2008 07:10 PM

Realm of Chaos and For Victory. All of their stuff after Warmaster is pretty much the same so you can do no wrong with any of them, though For Victory is the best of that style.
Hell yeah, he's definitely the standout musician on that album.
yeah, along with the guitars, bass and vocals for sure!

keyboardxmosh 08-20-2008 07:11 PM

realm of chaos (the band) is the best music ever

Angmar 08-20-2008 07:11 PM
.yeah, along with the guitars, bass and vocals for sure!
Jondur 08-21-2008 02:09 AM

good god, what was that? Your band? I'll guess it was so I'll just say "Not my cup of tea" (because I'm nice and sensitive to other people's feelings).

Have you noticed how this thread took a turn for the better since I posted a picture of Van Drunen?

Malfeitor 08-21-2008 04:51 AM

no need to spare mappy's feelings really

Pete 08-21-2008 09:22 AM

why not

he is v v sensitive

Angmar 08-21-2008 01:44 PM

Yeah I liked the old Paraphilia song a lot more Maps.

._.

EINSIEG 08-21-2008 02:33 PM

HAHAHAHAH that song was hilariously bad.

VomitStainedCretin 08-21-2008 02:36 PM
maybe, though it's pretty inaccessible

I didn't like that album the first time around, 2nd time around I kind of liked it, 3rd time around I was crushed into hell by its unholy fury and it remains my favorite album to date
I enjoyed it first time round but I'd say Here In After is a more accessible album but maybe that's just because it was the first of them I'd heard.

"DIDN'T YOU SAY JESUS WAS COMING"

EINSIEG 08-21-2008 02:37 PM

Here in After, great album.

Dawn of Possession and Close to a World Below are their best though.
Yeah I liked the old Paraphilia song a lot more Maps.

i do too, but my bandmates dont even want to play masturbatory anymore

i like tha new direction though
good god, what was that? Your band? I'll guess it was so I'll just say "Not my cup of tea" (because I'm nice and sensitive to other people's feelings).
ouch :[

on the bright side, i wasnt really expecting you to like it, what with the fact that you're like, oldschool death head from oldschool death era, while im in a deathcore band lol
no need to spare mappy's feelings really
yeah, def cant compare to goat pestilence

rasputin 08-21-2008 11:05 PM
For Victory
I downloaded those once loyal and so far it's really good, I'll go with For Victory next I think.

Angmar 08-21-2008 11:07 PM

It's not bad really, but in my opinion brees never compliment a song, and your vocals are good, and yes they're varied, but they seem like they're trying to do a little too much. Like you're kinda changing constantly and it's a bit distracting. Just trying to give constructive criticism heh.

And yeah, you're not even close to GOAT PESTILENCE, MALE FELLATOR is a CLASSIC song.

You change your vocals waaaay too much. There's something to be said for variety, but I think you need to slow down.

Um, honestly vocals were the best part. The guitars were boring and the drums were lol

Old Paraphilia song was better.....

Angmar 08-21-2008 11:26 PM

The problem with changing so much is that you hardly get to digest or enjoy one style before you switch, having your vocals be varied is nice but I think you should stick to one style for a little bit (not 4 seconds) and then change it up instead of one constant shift in technique.

Bronson 08-21-2008 11:52 PM

ya 123

adb 08-22-2008 12:01 AM

the bottom line is you like to emulate your favorite vocalist(s). The See You Next Tuesday influence is definitely there (changing up the style frequently and abruptly)

Bronson 08-22-2008 12:05 AM

drum sound is really bad

publicastration 08-22-2008 12:07 AM

It can sound awesome when changed abruptly but not the way he's doing it.

If you could all keep the same username for more than 5 minutes I'd have known it was you and not clicked the link. Again not being nasty, but I'd have known the style etc.

On the bright side - you go WHOOOOAAAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH pretty good.
