Broken Social Scene- Broken Social Scene. Excellent album.
|
This Brightblack Morning Light album is really nice.
|
Thanks for reminding me JonM, I've been meaning to get that.
|
Hey, I love Brightblack Morning Light!
Besides that, a lot of My Morning Jacket, Lee Perry, Built To Spill, Explosions In The Sky, Pavement, and Desmond Dekker. Keeping it classic. |
Ys is growing on me more since I'm starting to adjust to her voice.
and FutureSex/LoveSounds is really awesome. |
Scritti Politti - Songs To Remember
Arthur Russell - The World of Arthur Russell The Associates - Sulk Songs to Remember is funny. Kinda corny, but at the same time, enjoyable for a soul fan like me. It's almost as if Stevie Wonder was reincarnated as an English post-punker, except not quite as good as that might sound. The Arthur Russell is a comp I already had downloaded, but it's a sweet one so I bought it on the cheap. Soul Jazz is the best. Classically trained cellist makes NY Dance tunes. Guy created some really unique grooves and he couldn't sing at all, so you know he's a rising fave for me. |
I'll have to check that out. Love me some Soul Jazz records and 99.

I wanna get The Sexual Lives of the Savages or whatever it's called, the Brazilian new wave/post punk comp they put out a while ago. I bought a different one called Nao Wave and it's kinda interesting.
|
Yeah, I'dda downloaded that shit. As a matter of fact, I just did this afternoon.
|
man, Gospel seriously has the best lyrics ever.
these men, they got fingers like knives... |

Sounds like Arto Lindsay would be on that one.
man, Gospel seriously has the best lyrics ever. these men, they got fingers like knives...
I never end up listening to their lyrics. I probably should. |

I never end up listening to their lyrics. I probably should.
well for the most part they're unintelligible. i can only find lyrics for four songs online, but i'm getting the LP for xmas (on purple marble so hott) and i'm hoping that will have all of them. edit: apparently it doesn't :( |
Ouch.
I also require the guitar tab for "Opium" that I will never get. |
I bought the new Nas album today and on the way home I suddenly thought, "why?" I have this money-sapping tendency to buy new releases even when I don't want them.
these men, they got fingers like knives...
i hate it when i listen to cool music and don't even care about the lyrics, but then it turns out they were good after all. like Every Time I Die's first album, great asskicking lyrics. |

Jana Hunter / Devendra Banhart - Devendra Banhart & Jana Hunter |
I've been on a pop rap kick for a looooong time now, but I think this Joanna Newsom might just pull me out of it.

Zion I & The Grouch - Heroes in the City of Dope
Why do people talk more about Hell Hath No Fury (average) than this? This is sweet. |
Chris Clark - Clarence Park
This is sweet, "Lord of The Dance" is one of my favourite electronic songs ever. |

Great find!!! This is a cool little record. |
Pavement- Haunt You Down (Its on the reissue of Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain)
You know what I really love about the reissues Matadors been putting out? That you find little gems in the b-sides section a year after you've bought them. |
As I live near Shoreditch. I know not IN!!! I actually quite like THE GHOST FREQUENCY. http://www.dazeddigital.com/rise/band.aspx?a=187 - The question is - is am I being serious? I think I kind of am actually. Although I'm pretty sure its spelt nu-rave not neu-rave.
Acutally people were talking about In Sides above - I would like to say that it remains the greatest thing Orbital ever made. Its |
