None taken. It's not exactly as bad as I described it, though.
It's just an outlet for my undying boredom. :) |
Hey, I'm recording this song too! But instead of using my computer, I'm just leaving hundreds of voice mail messages on this one guy's phone. I plan to ask for them back at a later date, as I feel the best way to preserve the clarity of the bagpipes is through unsolicited music sharing :)

When I send in music for the MX compostion challanges, no one ever likes it. I personally think my music is great though, and I constantly listen to it myself.
I am my own biggest fan. |
I love my own music too. It's so great that I have like half an hour's worth now, because I can just sit and bask in my own glory for a now fairly substantial amount of time.
|
I hate listening to my own songs, because they suck and I hate hearing my own voice.
|
Ah. I don't sing.
|
I think that's a pretty natural feeling to like what you make, for all kinds of art. Like how food tastes better when you cook it yourself or whatever.
And to the person who mentioned Seu Jorge, yeah he's cool. I and probably a whole hell of a lot of people not living in Brazil wouldn't know him if it weren't for his parts in movies, though. |
I'm not sure that I automatically like whatever I make, though. That's why I don't keep everything I record.
I haven't shared most of my new stuff with many people, so I'm really not sure if it's something anyone else enjoys. I can't wait till I have a nice 35-40 minute album to distribute. That's going to be so fun. |
I hate a lot of my music, but recently I've started to feel very good about it. I should just post the instrumental track of the last song with Mike. Maybe it should stay instrumental.
The thing I wrote tonight is just a simple, acoustic 12-bar blues, and I might put some harmonica on top of it. Do you think I could pull that off? |

Crap, I even hate having to read essays I've done for my classes. Granted there are people who enjoy what I do but honestly I don't know why. |
Do you find yourself not believing people when they tell you they like something? I'm crippled by that. I convince myself they're just being polite, and I'm not confident enough in it to know it's good on my own.

I don't know, I just figure if I don't like it they shouldn't either. But then again, I really don't care what people say anyway. I make music just for the sake of making it. |
I'd like that to be true for me, but it always feels unfinished to me if its unappreciated, either by people (or me) not liking it or because I don't play it for anyone.
|
Well I guess I've developed that mentality because I play live on street corners and such. You just jam away and basically say, musically of couse, "fuck off" to everyone. Oh well, that's just how I am. My music is take it or leave it.
|
I played on a street corner one time, and it was really amazing, actually. I should try that again. It was in Providence at 3 AM, not at home, and since I'll be living there in 2 weeks, I should go to the same spot. My friend and I made $9 each, and we were only out there for about an hour.

Ah, I never accept money from anyone. I have a job and I don't need people's money. They can enjoy a free live show, too me that's cool. |
Well, they gave it to me voluntarily, so it was fine by me.
I'm jeopardizing my immune system by fucking with my sleep patterns, and the Lali Puna album is over, so I'm off to bed. Nice chatting with you, NPC. |
Does any band have better song titles than The Flaming Lips?
A.C. doesn't count of course, they're not even in the same LEAGUE :)
I think not. So, as of this September, my older sister and neighbor/my best friend for the last eight years are moving away. It sucks. |
Have you ever walked home feeling sticky?
I hate that feeling. |
stickiness can be bad

You must like some of your own stuff. I could never give people my music unless I like it myself. Enjoying your own music is more important than anything else I believe. |
Greta, in that picture of you from a couple years ago, were you trying to look like Liz Phair on the cover of Exile In Guyville?

Honesty I can't think of anything that I "like". It's just how I am I suppose. I'll make music because it's a release from everything else. But I've never been one to listen to the music I've produced or been a part of. That's why I think it's weird when people say they like the stuff I create and so on. |

No, but I can see how you got that. |

Are we having chicken or spaghetti tonight? |

I'm like that too. I'm proud that I know I can make music of a certain standard, but until I make something that I would go out and buy myself I won't be satisfied. /unless im completely missunderstanding you. |

Assembling bookshelves by yourself is fun.
