Yes, secret CDs. Secret for two reasons, firstly because some of the might not arrive, and then everyone would think I have CDs that I don't, and also because I can't remember all of them.

I thought they were ultra rare CDs or something. Then again, would you get them at amazon, probably not.
I also understand people like you do stuff outside of the pit, and you help out alot with problems with the site, I respect that alot. But I never said every one did nothing in the pit, I said most or the majority of people, so I never really said
you did nothing.

And I can have my own opinion of the pit, and I think it sucks along with majority of its users.
That's fine, and I realize you didn't say all, but you guys are being just as bad with the elitism thing.

Distant Echoes 01-30-2005 01:31 PM

Im still working on a master plan to get any form of respect in the pit.

My theory is

More postcount=more respect

i noticed most of the members their suck up to the higher-authority poeple much more, so maybe in a year or so ill post there without being one of their bitches.

munky_magik 01-30-2005 01:32 PM

Gain respect in the pit by making good posts.

Didn't you have a previous account?

BludgeonySteve 01-30-2005 01:35 PM

Respect is part postcount, part join date and part quality of posts, sadly. Atleast in the pit it is.

Cipher Hour 01-30-2005 01:35 PM

I mostly hang around R&M, though occasionally I'll visit on of the other forums. I don't like going into the pit because I really don't get their sense of random, look-at-me-I'm-being-stupid-on-purpose sense of humor. I don't think lesser of the users that hang out their or anything, I just don't get it. The pit is basically one giant inside joke to me.

Iron Man 01-30-2005 01:35 PM

I think I get a suprising amount of respect here, for only having 740-something posts.

Distant Echoes 01-30-2005 01:36 PM

to bartender

yeah

the mighty zep

i thought i left it on my signature long enough for people to know, but i had something around 700-800 posts on it. That was when i regularly posted in D&P boards, which i rarely do anymore

I sometimes wonder how many of the star-holders in the pit did it by a combination of rep-whoring and semi-clever insults, because I never see anything intelligent enough coming from any of them that would make them worthy of them from that angle.

BludgeonySteve 01-30-2005 01:38 PM

I'm ashamed to admit that I sometimes judge others on their posts or join date or if they have stars or not. I've been posting in the pit too much...

I got all my rep through hard earned R&M Community Thread whoring.

And I have never gotten a mod rep. :(

 I tend to judge people by their posts. If they post good, I like them. If they post badly, then I really don't.

Thats how I am.

EDIT: (The majority of the time.)

That's a lie and you know it :p

Or maybe not.

Stfu 2877 posts n00b.

edit: and june 2004 n00b with less posts.

Meh, I'm only that way when I'm in the Pit. It kind of dies when I go to other forums. I only use post-count as a way to discern a noob from everyone else. If they have a postcount above 500 I usually leave them alone. Other than that I see it as no criteria for respect. I post relatively little, for instance, and so I have far fewer posts than people that joined up at the same time as me, like Riva, and some even that came a bit after me, like zepfan. But I don't think that increases or decreases the worth of my posts. I try to be fair about that, and the star-holders in the Pit don't really get much of my respect anyway. Time on the site is something I will generally respect regardless.

BludgeonySteve 01-30-2005 01:43 PM

Not to forget rep points. Rep points=***** size as we all know.

/i've mostly been kidding

Distant Echoes 01-30-2005 01:44 PM

to bartender,

i didnt really like my name, and i feel i had a bad reputation (before the rep points came out) cause ive been around for a while but really didnt contribute much, except to the lessons and article in D&P, but mostly i was over the n00b zeppelin stage, and i didnt want to bother the mods to change my name

Cain 01-30-2005 01:45 PM

You would if SK was around more often. I got a monster rep from him one time for agreeing that a DT official thread was a good idea, and another one for not crying about a one-day ban that I recieved. That made up about 900 points between them.

C'mon Bartender, help the man out! Don't be such a stingy rep-giver. :)

Bartender 01-30-2005 01:46 PM

I judge people based on join date, then post count (if join date is insufficient). I've got a whole set of rules about it, it's getting quite lengthy.

Go read my reviews in CD Reviews.
Go read my suggestions to improve site performance in Site.
Go read my songs/crits in S&L.
Go read my Top 100 MXers compilation

Tell me I've never contributed anything to this site again and that I don't deserve my stars.

To the other guy who said he needed a giant postcount to be respected there - no, just don't post like an idiot. We're really tolerate in that respect.

/i've mostly been kidding
rep points are so pointless. i occasionally rep people for a good post, but it seems like in the course of 1 week, twice as many users had stars. A few days ago, i posted about 40 times and got 100 rep points with some good threads, mostly on ABITW tone settings, but i still have less then 300 points

superpeer 01-30-2005 01:47 PM
I have to drive about 50 miles to get to this record store. I seriously live in the mountains, in a forest, that is a good 45-50 miles away from Portland. So ya, its not like its a 10 minute drive heh.
I live in a big city, so there are plenty of cd stores, but for metal, I have to travel.

I'll go rep one of his reviews, if I can figure out what he reviewed..

I thought I'd repped him long ago, though.
