Nocternity any good ?

Morumbar 08-12-2009 03:33 AM

A friend showed me some Luror yesterday. Sounded really good.

illmitch 08-12-2009 03:34 AM

luror is okay, they get kinda old to me

Morumbar 08-12-2009 03:40 AM

Hm, okay. I'm downloading the two full length albums they have atm.

I was also recommended two other bands (lifelover (strange name for a bm band) and make a change - kill yourself), but I figured I should check out Luror first. Can't listen to five albums at a time, lol.

illmitch 08-12-2009 03:43 AM

lifelover is ****ing sweet, i love them

RetiredAt21 08-12-2009 06:58 AM

Lifelover are kinda gay.

rasputin 08-12-2009 07:02 AM

aren't they the christian one

BillEco 08-12-2009 07:10 AM

DSBM is gay... (well most of it)

RetiredAt21 08-12-2009 07:48 AM

Yeah most of it is super lame.

easylee 08-12-2009 07:49 AM

nyktalgia has one good album

Morumbar 08-12-2009 08:21 AM

I thought some of you liked Austere.

I think a lot of the music is pretty well written. It's just the vocals that are sometimes a bit over the top. Like they're trying too hard to sound like they're in pain.

rasputin 08-12-2009 08:22 AM

yeah it's mainly the vocals that suck hard

masscows 08-12-2009 08:23 AM

Austere's first full-length is pretty good but I definitely agree with you about the vocals. Austin is a huge fan of their earlier stuff if I remember right.

Some DSBM is great in small doses.

Morumbar 08-12-2009 08:28 AM
yeah it's mainly the vocals that suck hard
Yeah, for that reason, I was asking for DSBM without vox, but apparently that's pretty hard to find.

Txus 08-12-2009 08:29 AM
aren't they the christian one
no

they are pretty good but idk, cant listen to them that much.

masscows 08-12-2009 08:35 AM
Yeah, for that reason, I was asking for DSBM without vox, but apparently that's pretty hard to find.
Xasthur did an instrumental on the split with Leviathan which is really good. Actually, the whole split rules so get that if you haven't heard it. Xasthur - The Funeral of Being has some great instrumentals too.

I've never heard of an entirely instrumental DSBM band though.

Morumbar 08-12-2009 08:47 AM

Might check that out sometime, thanks.

Listening to Luror's Cease To Live right now. I like it but the song that I heard by them yesterday was much better. I think that was on a split or compilation or something.

RetiredAt21 08-12-2009 09:17 AM

Serious question, any bm bands like Brenoritvrezorkre?

TimJim 08-12-2009 04:48 PM
i'm gonna dl some borgne it best not suck
how did you like it

hismajestythepope 08-12-2009 05:13 PM
yeah it's mainly the vocals that suck hard
I really really dig Austere's vocals tbh.

Nostalgia 08-12-2009 05:21 PM

Their first album is pretty amateur in comparison to Bleak. Isolation's side of the split is good for one song, and I guess their instrumentals are okay too. Their new album is pretty lame.

"There's Nothing Left" is a masterpiece though.

Morumbar 08-12-2009 06:00 PM

I checked out Make A Change... Kill Yourself today. Good stuff. Nice to find some DSBM without the over the top shrieks of eternal despair, solitude, sadness and torment.

RetiredAt21 08-12-2009 07:01 PM

Are Regnum considered DSBM? They are pretty good.

Unsure how well it will fit what you're after, but Orrery - Nine Odes To Oblivion could be worth a listen.

Yeah, I was recommended Orrery before, but I couldn't find it. Maybe now that I have an album name, it'll be easier to find. Thanks.

RetiredAt21 08-13-2009 08:08 AM

Xasthur is the ultimate in depressive EVILz.

rasputin 08-13-2009 08:23 AM

playing megiddo atm grimm kvlt

Morumbar 08-13-2009 10:31 AM

Not really into Xasthur. Maybe I've heard the wrong songs or something, but I don't really like it.

TimJim 08-13-2009 10:33 AM

what does DSBM stand for

RetiredAt21 08-13-2009 10:39 AM
Not really into Xasthur. Maybe I've heard the wrong songs or something, but I don't really like it.
I'm just kidding they are ****ing awful.

@ timjim: DSBM stands for depressive/suicidal black metal.

masscows 08-13-2009 10:41 AM

Xasthur pre-Subliminal Genocide is solid dsbm, especially The Funeral of Being. His new one is ok too but it's not black metal at all.

RetiredAt21 08-13-2009 10:41 AM

Xasthur is gay.

Metal Archives is your friend.

Morumbar 08-13-2009 10:46 AM

Good point. I should check that site more often.
