My friend saw them play Dyers Eve. So lucky.
crazy...

i heard all these years they never played it cause lars couldnt drum(do double bass) that fast anymore?

LarsAgi007 05-06-2005 04:25 PM

Thats a complete pile of rubbish lol....He can drum just as well as he used to... In fact when I wen't on their Madly in Anger with the world tour, On St Anger he did double bass all the way through almost (Excluding the soft chorus of course), And he had no problem doing it....
He plays Metallica - One almost every concert also... Thats the same speed double bassing...

Chu 05-06-2005 04:33 PM
9 and a half. Yes, I take things literally.
Crazee, do I wanna know where you found that out? :o

RustedPieces 05-06-2005 04:33 PM

I think James wrote that song about his parents when he was mad at them, and it was too personal or something to play live. I'm not sure though.

The reason they don't play Dyers eve alot in concerts is just the fact, Its an unpopular Metallica song, Its also fast, when your playing a 5 hour gig you need energy!!

Sandtrap 05-06-2005 04:44 PM

flamesofbodom 05-06-2005 05:01 PM

Didnt james' parents both die when he was like 16 or so. I dont think he would write a song about his dead parents. (i wouldnt anyway.)

flamesofbodom 05-06-2005 05:12 PM

I think his dad sucked as a dad. Or something like that. His mom died early though

Joe 05-06-2005 06:03 PM

Nope, his parent's split around 13/14 and his mom passed away a few years later, i haven't heard any more about his dad

Lars rarely did the double bass in One this tour..I heard about 20 boots of One from this tour and he did the double-kick 2 or the 20.

Dyers Eve was crap for Lars, he couldn't keep up with it. As you grow older, stuff like that takes it's toll. Think about doing that every night for two years, then stopping for a year, then 2 years, etc.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-06-2005 06:46 PM

Well considering he supposedly had to record it in three separate intervals, it's not really suprising that he can't keep up 10 or so years later. Many drummer the same age as lars do more double kick in gigs, so thats not much of an excuse.

james said in an interview that his dad passed away in 1990 or somewhere around that *doesnt remember*

Juicy_Forlorn 05-06-2005 07:31 PM
yea see i couldn't talk then...

so yea i was at the world tour and i hurt my neck for a whole week... out of all of the setlists i've seen i think mine was the best. i wish they would have done Welcome Home (Sanitarium) too (except they either do that or fade to black and i like FTB better)

so yea, great stuff
When I saw them they played both Sanitarium and FTB. They also played Dyer's Eve.
But on the down side, they didn't play anything from KEA and they didn't play For Whom the Bell Tolls

lilmetallica 05-06-2005 07:42 PM

lilmetallica 05-06-2005 08:00 PM

Joe 05-06-2005 08:45 PM

that's dumb. lol, they probably listen to good charlotte... (not that they're bad or anything!!! )

lilmetallica 05-06-2005 08:50 PM

Anyways... not sure if this has been asked before but... whats you guys's favorite song off load/re-load? (since their basically the same one)

Joe 05-06-2005 08:51 PM

well i don't own either, but out of what i've heard The Unforgiven II is my favorite

TheDMV 05-06-2005 08:52 PM

It's really hard to go against Fuel. Memeory Remains is terrific as well.

PepsiMetal 05-06-2005 09:05 PM

Yea, memory remains is my favorite off the load/reload. I also like fuel and unforgiven II. I would probably like more songs, but I haven't really heard load/reload's all tracks.

Suicide_Punishment 05-06-2005 09:06 PM

Fuel,Memory remains,Hero of the day,King nothing,Untill it sleeps

lilmetallica 05-06-2005 09:06 PM

I would say its fuel memory remains hero of the day and unforgivenII in a 4 way tie.

Joe 05-06-2005 09:13 PM

very lucky and extremely unlucky. Seek and Destroy was very cool. I didn't see FWTBT either, but they also played tons of KEA, RTL and MOP

vashts80 05-06-2005 09:18 PM

Bleeding Me/Outlaw Torn/Fixxxer/Carpe Diem Baby are my favs off Load/ReLoad

i don't really ever use msn messenger. i found it on a google search with some writing on it and i used some editor to just make it that with a black background

Thats the only way to go. If they ever played new stuff, they would get booed by many people.

vashts80 05-07-2005 10:49 AM

I guess you haven't heard the pops for St. Anger or Frantic, then? /me rolls eyes

Also, I have a bootleg from Paris '03 where Dirty Window was played. It got a massive pop.

Fuel
The Unforgiven II
The Memory Remains

Huber 05-07-2005 11:04 AM

I'd have to listen to them again, haven't heard them in awhile. Fuela and The Memory Remains are up there though.

fatbandit 05-07-2005 11:25 AM

Where the Wild Things Are. I love that.

And what do you mean pops? Applause and loud screams? Or muchos booing? Something like that?

vashts80 05-07-2005 11:46 AM

Pops = applause and loud screams

Endless Obsession 05-07-2005 11:49 AM
Thats the only way to go. If they ever played new stuff, they would get booed by many people.
Metallica will never get booed at their own concerts. Trus me.

PepsiMetal 05-07-2005 11:54 AM
Metallica will never get booed at their own concerts. Trus me.
Exactly. And they play newer st. anger songs at almost every concert. They played frantic and st. anger in portugal and people loved it. But of course, st. anger songs do sound alot better live.

metalcritter666 05-07-2005 12:47 PM
Exactly. And they play newer st. anger songs at almost every concert. They played frantic and st. anger in portugal and people loved it. But of course, st. anger songs do sound alot better live.
Yeah, they do without the high-pitched snare sound. And they did a guitar solo in Dirty Window. And I know I would never boo Metallica unless they made a really shitty song.
james said in an interview that his dad passed away in 1990 or somewhere around that *doesnt remember*
It was around the Load/Reload era. 1996 I believe, just before or after Load came out.
