I'm sorry JCS. I've had similar problems and they piss me off just as much. I've uninstalled last.fm before or updated it and that helped.

i found out all you have to do is go "help" then "diagnostics" then go to "ipod scrobbling" then scrobble from there

It takes a little while after you do that, like maybe even ten minutes. I'd do it again and wait it out.
