So, my mom got me this yesterday:

I've never expressed interest in an acoustic/electric ukulele, but god is it fun! I want to learn everything in the Jake Shimabukuro catalog, beginning with this:

If only she'd get her tits out, then we'd really have some gifs worth posting.

fatbandit 12-27-2011 05:46 PM

i'm actually fairly okay with the mystery staying intact i think

BenJammin 12-27-2011 06:26 PM

Yeah, it's one of those things. Forbidden fruit mentality, etc.

Never really understood the hoopla over that kid. Dude plays the easiest instrument known to man, an instrument that can make anyone with decent fingerpicking technique look like a god. He's THE ukelele virtouso b/c no one else wastes their time with something that is really only useful as a rhythm instrument. I realize he is probably from hawaii, but c'mon man (weird sportscenter just started doing "c'mon man!" after I typed that) graduate to mandolin already. Those things can sound pretty d@mn good solo. Maybe I could become the jake shimuwhatever of the recorder...

FunkMetalBass 12-28-2011 11:23 AM

Johnny Cash is awesome.

That is all.

I've never been able to walk a line into a ring of fire. That takes some serious cajones.

The fact that the guy can get sweet dubstep-esque bass sounds from two Behringer pedals (the expression and the bass synth) impresses me and makes me want them both.

What's this move? Starting the leaf-blower? I like it.

Nice to see some rhythm guitar in the spotlight. Interesting slap bass kind of style too.

Crazians.

That's exactly how I play the guitar.

Damn I like his tone.

gaslight 12-30-2011 08:41 AM

He's no Kings Of Leon but he's okay.

Ewww. Kings of Leon...

FunkMetalBass 12-30-2011 04:03 PM

By the way, there's a question waiting for your response:

Cramboli 12-31-2011 06:10 AM

So I've been playing bass a lot more recently now and like probably 3-6 hrs at a time with occasional stops and really the only thing that slightly bothers me is my fret hand (depending on my reach for the song) and my pointer finger on my right hand which has been broken and re-broken several times (self).

The real question I guess is shouldn't the rest of me be like a little achy besides the two problems that always exist really I guess that's a long time to play but fuck it right? My "technique" isn't phenomenal but from no real training and mostly just practice, 2 bass lessons where my prof was surprised at how well I was with no guidance for about 5-6yrs which now I'm glad I've been doing it right all along otherwise I'd wind up like a lot of the punk players (not all) around the area that are just haggardly throwing themselves down carpaltunnel-hell...

fatbandit 12-31-2011 08:45 AM

I'm not looking forward to tonight. Worst but most compulsory night out from the entire calendar. Expensive, overcrowded, and with a tinge of disappointment.

It depends on how extreme your playing is. If you're constantly playing 16th note triplets at 240 bpm, then you should be exhausted. Otherwise, light playing and good technique will give you ungodly bouts of stamina.

BenJammin 12-31-2011 11:56 AM

Yeah, I agree. I'm definitely a firm believer in light touch. It gives you good dynamic control, too.

fatbandit 12-31-2011 12:12 PM

I feel like I spent long enough building up a technique that was decent, that I am allowed to slowly destroy it by playing really hard with a pick at gigs and actually having a shit-ton of fun at the same time.

I would say though that you don't forget something like that. Like riding a bike. Apparently. I can't ride a bike, so I can't say. Your timing might get sloppy, and your speed might go away if you take a break from stuff, but your technique is always there if you took the time on it in the first place!

NEEDTOPOST 12-31-2011 01:41 PM

u cant ride a bike.... .. . . ........
