well, when ppl don't talk off-topic this thread is dying

off-topic/guitar-related: i just started practising rhythm-parts; i never thought this will be so hard :(

MRDuCran 04-02-2006 03:13 PM

What song?

repcak 04-02-2006 03:16 PM
What song?
no song; i took some rhythm exercises from insaneguitar and some from other sites. if you want i can upload them... i have tabbed it on GP. but its nothing special... beginner rhythm exercises :D

AA-12 04-02-2006 03:33 PM

If you want to be good at rhythm, play some Meshuggah.

Shadows 04-02-2006 03:35 PM
Hey Ben?
Yes?

repcak 04-02-2006 03:36 PM

Meshuggah... lol

Iced Earth has some amazing riffs and rhythms... i just checked them out today, cause i read it on insaneguitar.com that they are good. nice stuff!

MRDuCran 04-02-2006 04:17 PM

I like playing Bodom rhythms, as well as Lamb of God, some of theirs are tricky.

The verse riff for Silent Night, Bodom Night is harder than most people think. It's triplets, most people I've seen play it just pick as fast as they can.

Ooo Necrophagist, repcak knows them!!

READ: If you want to be good at playing an 8 string guitar, but only using two of the strings and playing the same riff in different ways in a dozen different time signatures to bore people as much as possible, play some Meshuggah.

Don't get me wrong, I love Meshuggah, but that's not really the mark of a good guitarist.........

I love early Meshuggah... Destroy Erase Improve is like God.
Meshuggah... lol
What's wrong with them?
Yes?
Just seeing if you wanted to ask me something.

EDIT for BRA: Thanks for countering a point I never tried to make.

Chaosphere owns DEI.

Shadows 04-02-2006 06:22 PM

Ugh, I hate what little I've heard of Meshuggah.
Ugh, I hate what little I've heard of Meshuggah.
I don't necessarily hate it, but it's not my favorite music in the world.

Invicta_Veritas 04-02-2006 06:30 PM

Haha, refer to my last post......

Shadows 04-02-2006 06:39 PM

One album I've heard fits that idea, but the other is on my list of the few metal releases I genuinely hate.

Which album would that be?
Which album would that be?
I

Not an album, but I loathe it just the same.

Shred Danson 04-02-2006 06:44 PM

One Meshuggah song is more than enough for me. Blegh.

Invicta_Veritas 04-02-2006 06:45 PM

First Meshuggah I bought was Catch 33, and I thought it was somewhat interesting, but rather boring after a while.....then I bought I and Nothing.........Nothing caught my attention.

Just picked up destroy Erase improve and i swear it owns everything else i've heard from that band thus far........awesome album

I didn't mind Destroy Erase Improve. I thought Nothing and I were rather boring, though.

AA-12 04-02-2006 06:48 PM

I is probably my favorite followed by DEI.

Shadows 04-02-2006 06:49 PM

Contradictions Collapse & None wasn't very good either, partially because I found it disturbing that the vocals were exactly like James Hetfield.

Invicta_Veritas 04-02-2006 06:50 PM

destroy erase improve was very static X --y I thought, but not too much..........

I'm Charming 04-02-2006 07:09 PM

Nothing > Catch 33> the rest

Invicta_Veritas 04-02-2006 07:11 PM

DEI>Nothing>I>Catch 33

havent heard anything else.

^^^^notice the time progression.......they get worse as time goes on......

Shattered_Future 04-02-2006 07:36 PM

I liked CC&N. It's a bit easier to listen to...but it kinda IS disturbing that it sounds almost like an oddly time framed Metallica.

I'm personally a big fan of I.

I'm Charming 04-02-2006 09:54 PM

What happened to the thread..................no off topic posting... Where is everyone?

Dicuss the pros & cons of having a pet chimp!

Shadows 04-02-2006 09:55 PM

Con: the thing would make a big ****ing mess everywhere
Pro: you could ask chicks to pet your monkey without being seen as perverted
