My sister listens to Xiu Xiu alot. I can't stand that crap.

srt-4 09-12-2006 11:31 PM

what is it? they don't have a purevolume

Sep 09-13-2006 03:49 AM
the drumming alone on that album can keep me listening to it over and over
The drummer is really good, but he plays a bit too flashy for my tastes.

I do dig that 7 mins song called Paper Tigon (I think)? It might be track 4.

Eliminator 09-13-2006 05:41 AM
Nah, Frances The Mute was better.

Every time TMV come up I have this argument where its me for FTM and pretty much everyone else liking de-loused more.
I love you for this.

whiteminority 09-13-2006 07:06 AM
i really like both albums the same- a lot.

i hate the new album.

finished ender's game today. good book
I think you're thinking of Golden Dawn maybe?
and what kind of stuff does that xiu xiu band that you mention play? i just saw that they are coming here in a couple weeks.
They play like indie with some experimentation I guess you could say. Just go see them.

bottlerocket 09-13-2006 09:18 AM

Ender's Game is good but Ender's Shadow sucked. It's about how Bean follows Ender's footsteps.

The best part of Ender's Game is the simulation game with the giant and the 3 shot glasses.

Everyone listen to Grief.

k1ckthecat 09-13-2006 01:41 PM

everyone listen to Wheatus.

Matt? 09-13-2006 02:07 PM

i like that giants drink part too.

i want to name a song after it

pixiesfanyo 09-13-2006 02:10 PM

Ender's Shadow is so much better than Ender's Game it's ridiculous.

The whole Bean deal is so much better, it's less about action and much more about politics and decisions.

Ender's Game is like Tool, and Ender's Shadow is like TMV.

pixiesfanyo 09-13-2006 02:10 PM

also. gav's so scene it hurts.

hmm. maybe i should download some stuff first.

srt-4 09-13-2006 02:14 PM

i don't get the big deal about enders game. i liked it, but it was nothing amazing.

Matt? 09-13-2006 02:20 PM

no one said it was amazing

but i enjoyed it as much as any "amazing" book

pixiesfanyo 09-13-2006 02:23 PM

Ender's Shadow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm not criticizing you. not on here, but in general people talk about that book like its so amazing. its entertaining, but i don't see why its a "classic."

speaking of books, on the road was really cool. although, for me not the life-changing book that other people have said it was for them.

pixiesfanyo 09-13-2006 02:27 PM

you should read The Naked Lunch.

that book will **** you up.

srt-4 09-13-2006 02:30 PM

alright, i'll check it out.

right now i'm reading plato's republic. its kind of disturbing.

Matt? 09-13-2006 02:36 PM

i don't read much. i probably missed a lot of fun reads. people should post easy to read books that were really enjoyable.

because i aint got time to waste

pixiesfanyo 09-13-2006 02:41 PM

easy to read book that was enjoyable - The Cat Inside - William S. Burroughs

It's about kittens.

whiteminority 09-13-2006 02:43 PM

Catcher in the Rye is an obvious choice.
I remember reading The Giver in like 6th grade and liking it a lot and going back and reading it recently and loving it so much more.

Matt? 09-13-2006 02:43 PM

pixies: sounds good

read catcher and the rye and the giver.

both were very enjoyable

pixiesfanyo 09-13-2006 02:46 PM

The Golden Compass is neat.

I'd consider it an easy read.

The sequels are lame though.

Just read The Golden Compass and pretend it's singular.

AIRIC 09-13-2006 02:57 PM

I started The Catcher In The Rye today in English. I read The Giver in 7th grade and I think I liked it. I'm gonna re-read it.

I'm reading the Godfather right now. It's sooo ****in good. Almost finished but I would recommend it.

srt-4 09-13-2006 03:10 PM

i never finished catcher in the rye. i probably should do that sometime.

one book that i read recently was "colossus: the rise and fall of the american empire". its excellent. anybody that takes any interest in their country or world affairs should read this book.
