They did it live.

Like, 2003.

Edit: Well I downloaded it, unfortunately I only have it one .mp3 too, so you have to fast forward to get to the songs, but I usually just put it on Battery and leave it. It's not the greatest quality, because it's live, but it's not so bad it's unlistennable.

Joe 05-04-2005 02:16 PM

They covered the whole freaking album? my aim is gocaps99

Chu 05-04-2005 02:18 PM

Yeah, the whole 57 minutes. I don't use AIM, sorry.
I'd have to upload it on YSI. (I know I said I'd do it tonight, but some people came around and we went out, so I have to do it tomorrow guys, sorry).

Huber 05-04-2005 02:20 PM

I had the whole thing saved in a RAR file, but I think I deleted it for room. It was really cool though. Keyboards sound kinda cool in the songs.

fitzierocker 05-04-2005 02:27 PM

hey guys, new to the thread...
i think my peace for this thread is this:
i think metallica made good music (except St. Anger) , i respect them, but i do not like their music.

there.

Huber 05-04-2005 02:32 PM

Man, we should count how many of those posts we get^^

Then why are you here? Come into the ***OFFICIAL*** metallica thread and say you dont like metallica how stupid is that. go away.
Geez i think thats like in the neighborhood of 100ish.

Huber 05-04-2005 02:37 PM

Often times new members think they should post in every thread, dispite there interests.

lilmetallica 05-04-2005 02:43 PM

Worse yet he says "i think metallica made good music (except St. Anger)" and then goes on to controdict him self by saying " i respect them, but i do not like their music."
HIPOCRIT!!!!!!!

Where can you read the rules?

metalcritter666 05-04-2005 03:39 PM

The R&M rules are stickied. R&M forum, sixth or seventh thread down, always there.

I know same here, I have their version of Master of puppets, but i am led to believe the covered that entire album! Its good stuff I tell ya lol :thumb:

Endless Obsession 05-04-2005 05:05 PM

Dream Theater does a very good job playing all the songs, as they are all extremely talented. The only thing that was weak was the vocals. I wouldnt listen to it over Metallica.

John Petrucci is damn good.

whatduffhuck7 05-04-2005 05:20 PM

did anybody else know that kirk used to be in exodus. he started the band then droped out before they released there first real album (bonded by blood) i just saw this information. im really just getting into exodus so this may be well known. idk.

Every1 that comes in here regularly knows this.

RustedPieces 05-04-2005 06:01 PM

Yeah, I'll upload it to YSI for you guys later.
Everything about it kicks ***, and yes while the vocals do lack in some stages, the almost perfect control of their instruments more then make up for it. Portnoy plays Disposable Heroes with perfect accuracy, never missing a beat. (And it's a little bit faster then Metallica).

RustedPieces 05-04-2005 06:51 PM

Have you guys heard the Pantera cover of Seek & Destroy?

blue3 05-04-2005 07:03 PM

No, is it good?

Huber 05-04-2005 07:05 PM
Have you guys heard the Pantera cover of Seek & Destroy?
I haven't either. I think an upload is in order

Deth 05-04-2005 07:11 PM

Agreed. Upload, or feel our wrath!!!

/kidding

/or am I?

Chu 05-04-2005 07:45 PM

I have heaps of mp3s.
The Pantera Seek & Destroy has Jason on bass too :o
I also have a few different version of Battery (Covers) one's titled by Flotsam & Jetsam (Dunno if they ever covered it?), with a heaps funk sounding over the top bass.

Pantera covered it more than once...as well as Whiplash.

Fernandes Power 05-04-2005 08:39 PM

They did a concert called: 'Master of Metallica' where they covered all of 'Puppets.

The cover of Orion is weak by the way.

Chu 05-04-2005 08:45 PM
The cover of Orion is weak by the way.
I didn't think so.

Fernandes Power 05-04-2005 08:48 PM
I didn't think so.
Really??

I think most of its pretty bad... the Battery ones ok, MoP is well played but makes me giggle cuz of Jordan and James, Sanitariums really good apart from the vocals (seriously James... stop), Thingy wasnt bad, Disposable Heroes was ok but I remember something I didnt like about it... Leper Messiah I havent heard, Orion just felt weak on the whole... I dont think John did a great job of it and Damage Inc. was good... but fails to compare to any version of Metallica playing it.

Yea they really arnt.

Its very boring thrash metal imo.

Chu 05-04-2005 08:53 PM

I thought all around DT owned Metallica, well maybe the only thing I didn't like was the lack of bass in Leper Messiah, that was partly because of the live recording I guess though, and obviously James' vocals.

I really liked Disposable Heroes though, Portnoy was amazing.

What did you think of the little jizz after Orion? (Assuming you have heard the same version as me).

I cant remember little details like that... I only watched a video of it once, that was on my old computer.

Theres no-way Dream Theater could own Metallica playing Metallicas own material... seriously. You sound like a fanboy by saying that. :p

Maybe I am, but in a way I do prefer Metallica's writing ability, I just think DT can play the songs better. I have two videos, one of Master of Puppets, and the other of Sanitarium, and I think Petrucci really plays them well. (And an mp3 of the whole album (57 Minutes, 80mb)).

BCDRUMMER121 05-04-2005 09:13 PM

Hey wat sup with metallica these days?

Ok, but what I am saying is that Dream Theater cant play them better... this would be impossible, but rather that they play them in a style you prefer more.

Fernandes Power 05-04-2005 09:19 PM
Hey wat sup with metallica these days?
Theyre taking some time out currently... but will be in the studio very soon, Im sure.

My guess is for a new album mid-2006.

Thats not possible to play a song better than the original writer, if u are playing it the way that they wrote it. The best is the way that they made it. Plus James H's vocals pwn James L's.
