I've never heard the single version. What's the difference?
They re-recorded so it's a slighty different tone and there's 2 different guitar solos.

Well, the first little widdle bit and then the proper solo later on.

I think his voice is more rasper too which I love to death.

Shadows 08-06-2006 05:04 PM

Sounds like a step up. I love his raspier sounding voice.

MRDuCran 08-06-2006 05:53 PM

You have email... <_<

Shadows 08-06-2006 05:58 PM

Are you trying to tell me you sent me the song? :)

Because I never got anything. :(

MRDuCran 08-06-2006 06:36 PM

 omg. Are you still the Flash Mango?

Shadows 08-06-2006 06:38 PM

Yeah, TheFlashMango@yahoo.com. Try again if you can. These things are often sent to my bulk folder instead of my inbox.

MRDuCran 08-07-2006 04:11 AM

Have it yet?

tehnub 08-07-2006 04:12 AM
Lake Bodom, Kissing the Shadows
those 2 are really easy, i found

MRDuCran 08-07-2006 05:30 AM

Orly?

Recordings?

tehnub 08-07-2006 05:31 AM
Orly?

Recordings?
No? :p
I have no interest in recording these at the moment...
Lake Bodom is too repetitive, anyway

MRDuCran 08-07-2006 05:34 AM

I seriously think if you picked those 2 and claimed they're easy, I think you're playing them wrong, or sloppy. Tbh.

Jaundice 08-07-2006 05:35 AM

Not necesarily. Different skills come easier to some people than others.

Nah...they are just easy

MRDuCran 08-07-2006 05:38 AM

Then what do you find difficult?

tehnub 08-07-2006 05:39 AM
Then what do you find difficult?
dragonforce solos
but seriously, i don't know, whatever i find tricky to play at that given moment

nothing is "difficult", depends how you look at it...

MRDuCran 08-07-2006 05:41 AM

Yeah you could say that but regardless of how I look at it, it's not going to make me instantly be able to play it perfect.

What's your old username?

tehnub 08-07-2006 05:42 AM

I got banned for a week...

So, are you having trouble with these tracks, or what?

MRDuCran 08-07-2006 05:47 AM

I can play them both clean but not at the correct tempo, yet.

Well, Kissing the Shadows I can, except the solos.

tehnub 08-07-2006 05:49 AM

Mask of Sanity is easily part of their finest hour....good song

Jaundice 08-07-2006 05:54 AM
Mask of Sanity is easily part of their finest hour....good song
Agreed.

That, and Northern Comfort, have always been favorites. The entire Follow The Reaper album is their finest hour, I'd venture to say.

Definatly...so melodic...

Jaundice 08-07-2006 05:58 AM

Yeah, they really evolved melodically between Hatebreeder and that one. I actually found it pretty difficult to get into Hatebreeder because my first CoB album was Follow The Reaper and I was expecting more melody.

MRDuCran 08-07-2006 07:17 AM

Err Hatebreeder is very melodic.

tehnub 08-07-2006 07:18 AM

I know, what gives...
COB have never done a heavy album before, it's always been that mix of hard riffing and keyboard melody, occasionally doubled up on guitar

MRDuCran 08-07-2006 07:57 AM

Yeah they're always very melodic but I think Hate Crew Deathroll and Are You Dead Yet are quite heavy. I'd say HCDR sounds heavier because of the tone, I think they used different mics and mixing techniques and AYDY is downtuned a bit more so that helps.

tehnub 08-07-2006 07:59 AM

AYDY could have been amazing, if the vocals had been a bit fuller...something just seems lacking with half of the tracks or so...that's got nothing to do with the instruments, though

I think they released it at the wrong time, too...didn't have much of an impact

In Your Face is a great song though, back to basics

MRDuCran 08-07-2006 08:05 AM

I think the instruments do have something to do with it. Songs like Next In Line sound a bit empty with just the bass in the verse and songs like AYDY sound way too Killswitch like, or Trivium etc by his choice of chords.

Agreed about In Your Face though, no doubtedly my favourite song on the entire album, first song I heard off of it too.

tehnub 08-07-2006 08:06 AM
Songs like Next In Line sound a bit empty with just the bass in the verse
Hmmm maybe, never thought of it like that before
Heh yeah, but nowadays that comes with the whole "making a metal record" thing, I suppose...a really easy trap to fall into

Jaxom_of_the_Lambs 08-07-2006 08:12 AM

I heard some of HCDR, and I think AYDY is similar, but I don't like that style as much. It seems to be less melodic and just more metal. Not that I don't like that, it's just not what I want when I'm thinking "Bodom!"

MRDuCran 08-07-2006 08:12 AM

Yeah exactly. It's weird how if you give someone a guitar in drop C, they'll instantly play the open 4,5,6 strings and just "chug" away. Give someone a guitar in standard type tuning and they'll probably mess about in the pentatonic scale in A or E.

But I've noticed I do it too and also play those same chords when I'm in a drop tuning. I really like the way he created the Living Dead Beat riff though, that's pretty tricky but the rest aren't the same style as their previous releases. I think if they tune back up to D, there next album will sound a tad better.

/late

Got it. Three times at once, actually.

MRDuCran 08-07-2006 01:16 PM

Ah right cool. Like it?

Shadows 08-07-2006 01:21 PM

Yeah, I think I like this better than the album version too. Thanks for sending it. :) The solos and vocals are better.

MRDuCran 08-07-2006 01:30 PM

I agree. :)

Forlorn Hope 08-07-2006 03:23 PM

There any way you could send both that and the album versions to me? I would like to compare them because I don't know which one I have been listening to in the past.

MRDuCran 08-07-2006 03:57 PM

Album probably. The single version is really rare.

Prince Charming 08-07-2006 06:31 PM
Not necesarily. Different skills come easier to some people than others.
Uggh. True, but I'll take Mitch's opinion on this one. He's by far the most skilled guitarist in this thead.
