@MRDuCran: do there exist exercises specially for speed progression? i need to play faster :( are there any tips to make faster improvement on speed?
i mean i play a lot of chromatics and licks, but i don't see really improvement. i stuck at 100/110 bpm for weeks... i fail to play faster |
Something Wild
Trashed,Lost,And Strungout Right now its Judas Priest Through The Ashes Of Empires |
Through the Eyes of the Dead is lame, all their stuff sounds the exact same, although my friend is the drummer and he hooked me up with backstage passes, so I can't complain.
God Forbid played a lot better than they did when I saw them with Anthrax. |

I don't go asking or looking for specific exercises for speed, because you can play anything you want fast, anything you want slow. You should just take a lick/run/scale whatever that YOU find easy to play, and practise that until you can play it fast. At the moment, I'm just practising a bunch of licks that I've collected from Bodom songs and put into powertab and I'm seeing improvement, I'm not sure if it's because I make sure I play perfectly, or my hands can adapt quickly, who knows. But just make sure you're playing everything properly, and easily, there's no point hitting 120 and struggling, then increasing speed, keep everything relaxed. I usually can tell by watching people what's holding them back the most, try watching in the mirror and see if it looks natural. I guess you wanted exercises I gave you a lecture, so to be helpful, check out: www.chopsfromhell.com www.insaneguitar.com Those 2 both have columns made by random guitar players around the world that want to share their licks/solos/ideas etc. I'm sure you'll find a crapload of stuff that you'll find useful, some even have audio/video. :thumb: |

thank you MRDuCran (Mitch right?).
i too have a big collection of licks i play all the time and now i try to learn some licks from the Sinergy solo you posted yesterday. how fast are you playing? how said i'm stuck at 100/110bpm, though i could play it faster, but then i will began to play it sloppy and not relaxed. EDIT: omfg, there are tons of licks and exercises on insaneguitar.com... wow :D |

Judas Priest \m/ |
Maiden > Priest
Probably not the best idea to start a Maiden vs. Priest argument in here, but I can't help but to stand by Harris & Co. |

<prepares to be flamed
That's probably the wisest stance anyone could take in "Kings of Heavy Metal" arguments. |
You both suck and that's all I'm going to say on the matter.

EDIT: omfg, there are tons of licks and exercises on insaneguitar.com... wow :D
Yer I'm Mitch. I also have a huge collection of licks, which I don't play. That's why I'm going through everything and putting together all my fav Laiho licks, and legato licks, my legato sucks. I think if I have all of them on on page, I'll be more dedicated in practising them. Glad you found those sites useful! I can play 16ths at 200+, the intro rhythm to Needled 24/7 for example. Lead wise, I can play the Downfall solo at 160bpm, parts of it at 170/180. I used to be able to sweep pick 16th triplets at 110 but I haven't practising in ages. But yeah you say you started to get sloppy and unrelaxed, definately go back and stay where you were comfortable, until you feel your completely ready to go quicker. |

You know, I really don't mind being flamed... ...so long as I'm being flamed with a reason. |
For some reason i really don't dig any old metal anymore, except for old Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth,Anthrax, some Ozzy (and really old Aerosmith).....I was always a really big 80's glam fan before i really got into gothenburg, death, and such.........
Never had the taste for sabbath, Priest, Tull, Maiden, or any of that. |

I don't see how anyone can't like Judas Priest.

To be honest i havent listened to Iron Maiden but i do have a cd of them thats spose to be on its way to me,so hopefully ill get it soon :-D,then ill see who i like best either Priest or Maiden
|
I'm not sure who's better...Priest varies their music more, but Halford gets MAD irritating at certain points. Plus, I think Maiden has the slight edge in the musical department.
