I've heard of JJ Cale, but I'm not understanding where he comes in on my scrapbook
BludgeonySteve 12-10-2004 09:30 PM
good for you, maybe you could trade Eddie for some Bob?
Bob Dylan doesn't play like he's making fun of his own style ;)

++ for Bob.

jpj 12-10-2004 09:31 PM

Eddie Van Halen's riffs are so lame and wanky that in some of his later songs he actually sounds like he's trying to imitate himself in a mocking manner.
so lame and wanky
Watch your context on the following words...

Wank
Noodle
Improvise

They're practically all the same, and commonly used by The Grateful Dead, Phish, Widespread Panic, and various other bands.

You insulted all of those bands, and I know you like some of those

"self-indulgent" is the word I would use. You get the point across and sound smart.

Who in here thinks Animals is based off Animal Farm?

Illmatic 12-10-2004 10:36 PM

I always assumed that was common knowledge.

lunch998 12-10-2004 10:38 PM
I always assumed that was common knowledge.
That's what I thought, but some kid is trying to tell me it is more about English Society and it's hardly based on Animal Farm at all.

Illmatic 12-10-2004 10:41 PM

I don't think Waters ever overtly cites "Animal Farm" as a source, but it's definately there. The song "Pigs (Three Different Ones)" is a dead giveaway.

That's my point. I see the Waters used the Animal Farm concept to portray his view of British society, but I'm arguing this other guy that Animal Farm is the base idea behind it.
