Damnit, I want to build one of the BYOC Octave Dividers. It's like, a perfect Mutron clone for only $120.
Sounds so sexy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7i9ZlU-Ntww |
i want to be a fireman
I looked into it too but the fitness requirements are way beyond me. |
You know you can't touch any of my ghost chups!
Bro, Monique says you're dumb. |
I looked into it too but the fitness requirements are way beyond me.
I reckon I could do it, especially once I've done a bit more training. We don't have to do like a set number of pullups or whatever over here, its more like a task based physical. I think I'd be let down by not having enough kind of life experience tbh :/ |
You should do it man it's a great job, such a vital role in the community, that's one of those hero jobs.

Also, Firehouse Chili. That is all. |

Charlie Sheen - half man, half machine, half grizzly bear, all cop.
Chris if you became a fireman you could be the man I listed above. A certified, card carrying, pimp cane wielding badass. Firemen pretty much have a license to chop thru any door on the planet (even the door to Fort Knox) with a fireman's axe, pound their chest like men (and cause a reverberation from said chest pound powerful enough to kill everything within ten miles should they so wish) and declare something really really manly like "I LIKE PUPPIES AND BUNNIES, YEAH!" or "PEACE REIGN ON EARTH, HALLELUJIAH!" not to mention the whole thing about putting fires in their place and being an important member of an emergency response team/hero/general man in general. Also not to mention if you were a bad-ass enough fireman MEW would probably leave whatever dude she's with to be with you, nah'mean? You'd probably need to master several accents though so you could be a multi-cultured manly loving fireman who would rock her to sleep in his big fireman arms and such. man I'm out to go do some fireman training guys, I'll see ya. |

I hope this is a bold-faced lie. I need proof, or maybe I don't.
please tell me this is not true. I want to go hug my jazz bass now :/ also edit, I dug the Rick but oh man, was the bass-off liek the most complicating bass solos u've ever heard? I mean omg Jaco ain't got shit on Pilgrim and that other guy. |

Also, I totally don't need another bass at all, but for $180 shipped to me, this 6-string Jazz beckons me...

The movie itself is pretty decent, but the bass playing leaves something to be desired. Which is to be expected, I mean I didn't go to it to expect Victor Wooten and Jaco facing eachother down in a bass to the death sorta thing. Well maybe I did actually. oh and were your statements about MEW liez for evorz? Everytime I read her name in initials I think of pokemans. even though I never liked pokemans. As long as there's a gorgeous French/Spanish/British/Portugese/Texas/Saturn/Newfie/Scottish (think Sean Connery) accent or something that's all you should need. I mean extra languages are just a bonus. I can speak French fluently so I could be singing a girl who doesn't speak it to sleep and be singing about eating babies and setting cars on fire, and she'd just be thinking omg teh s3cks <3 |
oh wow, in that mega-huge fucking post I forgot to brag about potential instrument acquisition:
PRS Santana guitar, Traynor amp, and Yamaha drumset for under 700 dollars. Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. |
Just discovered texts from bennett. it's pretty much gold right here.
I've never seen it; I have no idea how complicated the bass solos were.
Watch the film dude. I will even send it to you so that you can see it. The solos don't set the world on fire, but they fit really well with the film tbf. |
And I have a British accent anyway, do I still need to acquire more accents, or will that one hold me over?
1 - thought you didn't like Jazzes? :O
2 - you have a 4-string? larger :O I thought you had a massively customized squier precision, whoops.
1. I generally like Fender-styled basses, but they have to have significant upgrades over the typical Fender passive basses. 2. Yes, I have a 4-string jazz with a fretless maple SX neck. I have enough parts for 2 Squier P's, but I keep taking them apart and doing more stupid mods to them. I'm finally going to scrap one of the bodies and get a new black P-body, then have a tech install the humbuckers I want in it. The other will continue to be modded until there's no wood left. I should really take another family picture. It's been a few years.
The movie itself is pretty decent, but the bass playing leaves something to be desired. I just checked out the clip from that scene and I was a little disappointed, especially with both of those guys doing the recording and so little focus on either actor's playing. Interesting side note, JMJ played a Rickenbacker and recorded the Evil Ex (Mustang) part, and Falkner played a Mustang and recorded the Scott Pilgrim part (Rickenbacker). The reversal of instruments was completely unintentional.
oh and were your statements about MEW liez for evorz?
Define "liez"? |
JMJ didn't do all the bass. I'm not sure how much he did apart from that scene to be honest? For Sex Bob-Omb, the actors all played their parts, which meant most of them had to learn instruments from scratch for the movie. Except Michael Cera. The other actors in other bands still learnt the instruments to be able to mime convincingly (they learnt that bass battle for instance), even though other backing tracks were provided by bands like Metric. I'm so gay for that film. |
JMJ only recorded for the battle.
EDIT: I just noticed that I said "all bass in the movie". My bad. Editing the original post. |

Define "liez"?
I had already read the bolded statement on wikipedia but that meant nothing to me as I have no idea who those two dudes are. Suffice to say the bass-off did nothing for me at all, it just had nothing to it really. I like a lot of variety and jazziness to bass guitar, and if I'm going for the scott pilgrim bass-off kinda bass Jesse F. Keeler does it the best. basically plays his bass like a guitar, hahah. Although I did not know about the reversal of the instruments. "liez" being the comment about her not being able to stand the electric bass and whatnot. I'm sure it's all a crock of shit but I just have to be certain. I knew Cera could at least play instruments, but it's kinda cool to know everybody else had to learn theirs and whatnot. I loved the crash and the boys parts in the film. And I had massive boournses at the clash at demonhead stuff. Man did Metric ever go downhill in recent years. it's basically turned into the Emily Haines experience featuring a bunch of backing tracks that sound the same all the time. I need to find my hilarious picture of Jimmy Shaw of metric looking incredibly greasy at Coachella now. |
Guys all this posting in BG forum is making me want to unlock the parts room to the shop and make love to my bass for srs. I played yesterday at lunch and was all :D and right now I'm dying to play, mother of God. oh man oh man oh man.
I mean it's not even my best bass but I changed the strings awhile ago and it sounds intense. Hot damn I wish I wasn't working right now. and by working I mean neglecting my work to post in BG forum. whoops. |
yeah man, i think all this talk of MEW and being a sexy fireman bish have seen the most activity in here for weeks hahaha
|
 sadly so true.
|
I've been playing so much bass lately that I've started thinking about a second custom next year.
|
I just ordered the new P body. In a week or so, I'll be taking it down to the shop to have them route and install a bridge humbucker. Then I can start the process of making a custom pickguard and replacing the P pickup with my custom quad-coil humbucker.

Mmmmmmmm. I keep hoping to win the lottery so that I can afford another custom (or two). |
I STILL haven't got my fanned fret 7 from Jon. I have the money, he just needs to finish the fucking thing. Really need to ring him, it's been like two years since commission I think now.
|
Really? Definitely drop him a line and see what's up.
