Yeah, I saw some show on how two-handed swords were actually used, as I was quite impressed by the speed and agility they had. Destroyed my conception of a 2hander being a cloud sword :D
|
its all about the legend
|
The legend was woefully inaccurate, and in the case of European medieval arms and armour, the truth was cooler.
Personally I don't think you can beat the rapier, fastest sword known to man. A skilled practitioner was lightening fast and uncannily accurate. In the heyday, it wasn't unknown for a practice regime to include nailing a penny to the wall and hitting it a few hundred times in a row before moving on. |
we must break 100 pages

All the Casuals have gone over 100.

But if we can't spam, how can we do it?
|
By simply being casual.

Because I always thought that a samurai sable (sp??) was the fastest of them all, although I might be much mistaken. |

For them, as soon as you draw it from the sheath, that is the attack. It's drawn, used, and sheathed before most people can even react, all in one motion. But what would I know? :thumb: |

No, a rapier is a one handed sword. Never heard of a sable, and after a bit of quick research, I'm not sure it exists. More likely you meant sabre? If you did, then a samurai sabre would be a Katana. Which were not that fast. They were hand-and-a-half weapons, making them much much slower than something like a rapier. Katanas were, overall, some of the best swords ever made, but they're still hugely overated. They weren't THAT good! |

That's assuming the katana user has an initiative advantage, which they may or may not. The katana was a very very dangerous weapon, but they weren't as good as modern cinema would have you believe. The katana was sharper, and a stroke would carry more power than a rapier, but a rapier was faster, with a longer range. Which one is better is an insoluble problem for the academics, my preference for rapiers is a purely personal one. |
I say Ginsu. The katana is a totally different form of fighting..if the user is skilled, he'll know how to react.

That applies to every weapon |
