i think that it would be funny if all of a sudden funk became popular and all of these crappy famous bands:
A) totally disappeared
B) tried to make funk albums and failed miserably
C) continued sucking as usual but stopped making millions

Spaceman Spiff 10-25-2004 09:46 PM

The Fredshred.wmv thread should be on the first few pages of the Pit.

Otherwise search google for that filename.

Maybe he used to cut down trees?

Espbassor 10-26-2004 01:11 AM

Maybe he cut down the tree used to make wooten's bass?

Wintermute 10-26-2004 01:14 AM

Does Wooten have a bass made from wood from Norway? Or is he just talking about the Beatles cover he played? What is it he's proud of?

Espbassor 10-26-2004 01:25 AM

gaslight 10-26-2004 02:03 AM

I bought a Dunlop Cry Baby Bass Wah today.

PaulR 10-26-2004 02:05 AM

Any good?

popinfresh 10-26-2004 02:09 AM

Not a fan of cry babies.. Shoulda gone morley dual IMO

gaslight 10-26-2004 02:10 AM

It seems pretty sweet, got it $60 below retail as well.

popinfresh 10-26-2004 02:24 AM
It seems pretty sweet, got it $60 below retail as well.
which is how much? 250? 200?

gaslight 10-26-2004 02:34 AM

I got it for $290, retail $350.

popinfresh 10-26-2004 02:40 AM

Hmm, we get em for 250 usually down here.

Anyone got any tips for putting slap into heavy songs?

blizzard 10-26-2004 02:40 AM

i'd probably rather spend the money on something like a Digitech Bp80

blizzard 10-26-2004 02:41 AM

hey popinfresh where do you live?

gaslight 10-26-2004 02:43 AM

What's a bp80? An effects unit?

Because I already have pedals for Distortion, Delay, Chorus, Synth/Envelope, and Octave so I don't really want to buy an effects unit. I did look at one today for a while but the Wah pedal won it.

For slap in heavy songs make it really tight with the drums so you emphasise the fatness of the rhythm.

popinfresh 10-26-2004 02:46 AM

BP80's kinda suck.. I have one. It's ok, but distortion and wah suck on it. Chorus and that are ok.

I live in Melbourne Aus.

And gaslight.. Yeah, but any patters or something that sound good? I try and make something and it's usually more funky..

blizzard 10-26-2004 02:50 AM

I was in Melbourne in the JUne/July holidays (i live in Brisbane) for band tour we got to play in Federation Square and we almost played in Chadstone shopping centre (they said the saxaphone group was too loud and drove away customers, so the jazz band wasn't allowed to play) but i didn't care, we got 6 hours of shopping!!!

gaslight 10-26-2004 02:50 AM

Patterns I'm not sure that much but umm, using lots of percussive slaps/pops can sound cool. And maybe using more slap than pop, sort of quick slap on the low strings with occasionally going up to the high?

It is kinda hard to explain.

gaslight 10-26-2004 02:52 AM

And man, Melbourne seems so awesome. I've only been for an extended weekend but it seemed so sweet. I stayed in Fitzroy.
