Yeah, it's good but Life of Brian is over-rated.

Watch Clockwork Orange, it's amazing. I'm studying it in media for my personal coursework project thingy.

JonM 11-26-2005 02:41 PM

No you should read A Clockwork Orange.
Nah, I just felt like posting something mean. It's the internet. You can't get mad on the internet. Though there are some people I know that do, like Ken. Now he's a mad man.
He doesn't like chad I think possibly.

it's a good read too, But I fell in love with it as a film first as dumb as that sounds. Kubrick does a really good job, the casting for Alex is perfect.
no matter.
If you hit me on a message service or something, I'll link you. For some reason I don't feel comfortable throwing my MySpace url up on mx.

I saw the movie first and I loved it, but it didn't even prepare me for how amazing the book was. It's certainly the best book-to-film adaptation I can think of.

Yeah, I sense a little hostility there.

But he is pretty crazy, he reminds me of a local bum that thought he was a crossing guard. He was always on a wacky power trip.

Zappa 11-26-2005 04:16 PM

I learned how to get an avatar of whatever size I like.

Damn dirty mo., I mean apes..

6Stringer 11-26-2005 04:25 PM

Zappa, I'm digging the avatar. Today I bought Sparta - Porcelian, it's such a great album. While nobody's home now, I'm attempting to get into Wolf Parade.

Few things in life infuriate me more than a guitar string breaking in the middle of a good folk song.

That's a good fake Doug cartoon. Made by Shmorky I believe.

You are correct. That whole thread was gold.

Just got back from being on vacation about an hour ago. It was fun. My family stayed at my aunt's house in this cool little seaside town. The ocean was about a quarter mile away from the house. Some of the highlights were listening to Freak Out! about ten times, reading V For Vendetta, discovering how good a writer Neal Stephenson is, and finding the greatest record store ever, called Vinyl Revolution. I made some purchases from said record store, and they are as follows (all are on vinyl):

The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground and Nico (New, $15)
Bad Brains - Bad Brains (New, $13)
Bob Dylan - Slow Train Coming (Used, $0.89)
Talking Heads - Speaking In Tongues (Used, $0.89)
Roxy Music - Flesh + Blood (Used, $0.89)
Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water (Used, $0.89)

Overall, pretty good trip.

Essentially, yes. Only it was in the middle of Iron & Wine's best song.

Which is...?

<i say "southern anthem">

Wanker 11-26-2005 07:18 PM

That's a good one. But IMO it's Upward Over The Mountain

6Stringer 11-26-2005 07:20 PM

I've been working on learning "Such Great Heights," it's a very simple song.

pikester 11-26-2005 07:23 PM

I want to see Iron & Wine.

Wanker 11-26-2005 07:33 PM
I've been working on learning "Such Great Heights," it's a very simple song.
That's probably the Iron & Wine song that I don't have.
That's probably the Iron & Wine song that I don't have.
I wish I could find a site that had how to play "Southern Anthem."

I figured pretty much everyone had "Such Great Heights," whether they listen to Iron & Wine or not.

Wanker 11-26-2005 07:46 PM

That's the thing. I heard that it was a Postal Service cover, so I refused to download or listen to it.

6Stringer 11-26-2005 08:08 PM

It is, sadly.

Well_Respected_Man 11-26-2005 10:15 PM

Such great heights was our schools song for homecoming, weird.

Happymeal 11-26-2005 10:26 PM

RIP Pat Morita (or is it old news?)

I've not been in the pit in weeks so yeah

Well_Respected_Man 11-26-2005 10:27 PM

He was the first asian to get some sort of western film award.

Zmev 11-26-2005 10:36 PM

Blue Bubble Gum soda is so good.

Shit I just broke my belt pulling up my pants.

Maybe finnaly gaining weight isn't such a great thing.

Daniel! 11-26-2005 11:24 PM

I just got a new belt. My old one got chewed up by my dog.

Tryxx 11-26-2005 11:45 PM

Paging Amanda! Would you mind hopping on AIM for a moment? :)

Robert Crumb 11-27-2005 12:18 AM

My belt is made from the flesh of my fallen enemies.

There used to be a place in town that had vinyl copies of Velvet Underground albums for $9 a pop. But they closed.

Daniel! 11-27-2005 12:26 AM

The only nearby place that sells records is about 30 minutes away from my house. It's called the Beat. You've probably heard of it, Robert Crumb.

Mine's made of leather. Not quite as hardcore, is it? :(

There are a couple other ones. K Street Records (the DJ Shadow place) has a lot of great stuff, not too far from the beat. One of the Dimples used to sell records, too. I think the one out in Roseville.

Daniel! 11-27-2005 12:32 AM

I'll look for K Street Records next time I'm downtown.
