Can anyone tell me some bands that sound similar to zakk wyldes solo acoustic album (book of shadows is the album name)
I have heard a couple of Children of Bodom songs, one of them being "Needled 24/7" I liked Needled... What would be a good first album by them for me?
Also, I am looking for my next Slayer album. I have Reign in Blood, however, the shortness of all the songs bugged me, and a lot of them sounded similar. I have been looking at Seasons in the Abyss. Is that a good one for me?
Needled 24/7 is off of Hate Crew Deathroll. The songs on that album have that same vocal style, and generally similar songwriting, so that would be a good place to start. But most people will tell you that Follow the Reaper and Hatebreeder are their best, so you may want to check out a few songs off those too and see what you like most. Seasons in the Abyss has generally longer songs than Reign in Blood, and the style is fast but with definite melody, so yes I'd say its a good album to check out. South of Heaven also would be good, its got a slower yet still heavy feel. Those are my two favorites from Slayer, so I'd advise getting both eventually. |
whats probably the best stratovarius cd?
|
id have to say Destiny is their best

i bought dream theater- images and words, and i liked it, but i only really liked the harder side of them, so i only thought they were ok. I heard train of thought is harder, so im buying that, but i want to buy another one. which one is the best out of scenes from memory, 6 derees of inner turbulence, and awake. i would prefer something a little diff than images and words, because even though it seemed like most people thought it was the best thing ever, i want something slightly different. it was pretty good though.

Scenes from a memory and 6 degrees are good...avoid awake and train of thought or at least until after you have their better stuff |
Actually, if you like the heavier side of Dream Theater, I would get Awake and Train of Thought. Awake was their heaviest album when it came out.

Anyways, what would be a good first Fear Factory album?
|
Anyways, what would be a good first Fear Factory album?
Well, I listened to "Obsolete" first, and I love that album. I'd recommend that one. I didn't enjoy "Digimortal", I'm kinda glad they stopped after that album, if future releases were to sound even more like it. "Concrete" is also very good, it's probably their most brutal album. If you don't know Concrete, it was released last, but recorded first. It supposed to be released before "Soul of a New Machine" but it never was released. It's Fear Factory at their most vicious sounding. Bottom line - Obsolete or Concrete are the ones you want to go with Songs: Concrete - Big God/Raped Souls (the drum work is excellent), Crisis, Escape Confusion, Soulwomb, Echoes of Innocence, Self Immolation, Piss Christ Obsolete - Shock, Securitron (Police State 2000), Descent, Hi-Tech Hate, Freedom or Fire, Resurrection |
thx a lot!

Could anyone recommend me some prog metal. The only thing is im not really into the main type of prog metal vocals. Such as Symphony X. Could someone recommend me something that has a different vocal style. Sort of like Tool?

Would you like more of a viking metal or proggish black/metal recommendation for them? If you want some viking material, check out their days with Garm : A Tale Of A Pagan Tongue The Eye of Oden Vortex era, bit more progressive : Colossus Revolt Oceans Rise Vintersorg era, very progressive : Soul Sphere Future Reminiscence Gods Of My World is the Mr. Vintersorg era. Also, if you like the Mr. V era, check out his solo project Vintersorg, folk/progressive metal depending on the album. |
Can someone reccomend me the good Megadeth CDs, and Nirvana ones?
If you listen to them or not, I think thaat Nirvana's Nevermind is owned by a lot of people in the western world. If you're gonna buy Nirvana get that, and/or The unplugged album, the other one's arent very good |
I think we need a Lamb of God official thread. My opinion I dont know if they are popular ebough of not I will leave this up to you guys to decide.
|
They're not, and why would you ask that here?

I thought this thread was meant for that the name must have fooled me.
"Music Recommendations" |

Kurt killed himself for a reason.

In Utero is the only Nirvana album anyone should own.
|
Actually, Bleach has got some decent songs on there. It's more indie sounding than any of their other albums, but it's an interesting listen.

Second thread in 5 seconds I've said to you, you're an idiot. This thread is not for random recommendations, its for asking/answering others' looking for recommendations. |

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that explains a lot |
Counting Crows: I love all their albums but the one that seems to be universally loved by everyone is August and Everything After, possibly because it involves alot less pop music in there sound. If you prefer the pop sound you can get "Hard Candy" which features Vanessa Carlton and Ryan Adams on background vocals. Or you could go out and get the old best of album called Films About Ghosts.
The crows have toured with many great bands such as The Who, and The Rolling Stones. There music features tons of instruments, and a great singer/songwriter Adam Duritz. Most of the songs are more sad, but some songs like Hanging Around and there most famous song "Mr. Jones" are more uplifting. |
I only have 2 Opeth cd's to go Orchid and MAYH. Which one should I get first? And BWP is my favorite album.
