Another request for you people: Could you recommend rappers/hiphoppers that sing over a metallish/rock sound?

I'm only aware of Ice-T and his Body Count crew right now. I'm not sure, but I believe Jay-Z has, RUN-DMC might have and that's all I can think of. Basically, I'm looking for guitars, rather than beats. Oh, and the Roots are slightly rocky.
you need to checkout the soundtrack for the movie Judgment Night . . .

1. Just Another Victim - Helmet/House Of Pain
2. Fallin' - Teenage Fanclub/ De La Soul

5. Disorder - Slayer/Ice-T

^ I likes the sound of that. Is it actual collaborations or has just been produced that way ?? I like De La Soul when hes not doing his own music as it were :p

Can anyone recommend some UK Grime/Rap/Hip-Hop to me. I'm in need of some new artists.

tappenzee 12-12-2006 06:59 PM

Nas and Ghostface both came with it on their latest...

Um, Beastie Boys. But you've obviously heard them and just forgot to put them on that list.

2muchket! 12-13-2006 02:18 PM

I've heard good stuff about Nas and Ghostface. Constantly listening to Sway's This Is My Demo. Deserved it's Mercury nomination.

Africa 12-13-2006 03:32 PM

I wish there was a mailing list in this forum for just all 'other' music... ambience, folk, rap, hip-hop, classical, techno, electronic, fusion, soundtracks, culture-specific musiks etc etc.

Just kind of throwin' that out there.

Kano - Beats & Bars mixtape
The Mitchell Brothers - A Breath Of Fresh Attire
Wiley - Treddin' On Thin Ice

sgrevs 12-13-2006 10:50 PM

Wiley is sick.

Can someone please comment on the albums I listed earlier on the page, I'm interested in what other people think of them.

ATM 12-13-2006 10:55 PM

Well, I quite like Sin-A-Matic (obviously, I suggested it). I'll have to relisten to the song you mentioned about him being racist and sexist.

Heros In the City of Dope is go damn good. I love the song with Charli 2na.

And Act Your Waist Size never really grabbed me, I think I need a different Count Bass D album.

sgrevs 12-13-2006 11:53 PM

Hooray a response. Totally agreed with Count Bass D, I really love all his collab stuff that I've heard, but his solo stuff just don't grab me.

I've hardly stopped listening to Heroes in the City of Dope since I got it on Monday. Train and Planes absolutely pwns.

Yes, please relisten to The Ugly Truth. I can't actually work out if he's rapping his own thoughts, or trying to put them in George Bush's mouth, if you know what I mean. Either way, it's very very hate filled.

I've only heard the Zion I/Grouch record, but it's pretty good. I recommend it to people who don't believe old school sentiments still exist.

Kyle 12-14-2006 09:11 AM

I'm gonna download that now.....it sounds cool.

Zmev 12-14-2006 10:52 AM

Mistah FAB is on it, this could be good.

Anyone else like Aceyalone?

pixiesfanyo 12-14-2006 11:21 AM

Yeah, Haiku D'etat is sweet.

I was just watching the music video, and they censored the word gat.

Zmev 12-14-2006 01:45 PM

In the video for "You Don't Know" they censor the word "chamber".

Eliminator 12-14-2006 01:46 PM

sgrevs 12-14-2006 04:48 PM

I was just listening to Made in Brooklyn by Masta Killa, and thinking about how it doesn't get anywhere near the amount of love it deserves around here. It's definitely one of the best Wu-affiliated albums I've heard, it's up there with Liquid Swords and Fishscale. Discuss the brilliance of It's What it Is in particular.

ATM 12-14-2006 04:53 PM

Anyone ever listen to Yak Ballz?

The Jungler 12-14-2006 05:55 PM

Is anyone digging Jim Jones' A Dipset Christmas?

I sure am.

pixiesfanyo 12-14-2006 06:09 PM

Hip Hop Is Dead sucks in the beginning but gets better.

ATM 12-14-2006 06:42 PM

Ooh I finally found Escape From Monsta Island

I can never distinguish him on any Wu-tang record, or should i say never spot out the one time appearances he makes on 36 Chambers, Cuban Linx and Liquid Swords...

Robert Crumb 12-14-2006 09:38 PM

I still don't know what it is about "Iron God Chamber," but it's one of my favorite songs from this year. Posse cuts++

ATM 12-14-2006 09:39 PM

Oh god, I just downloaded a nostalgic album for me that is really terrible.

SOMEONE please upload Escape From Monsta Island I've been looking for it for so long pleeease.

ATM 12-15-2006 08:11 AM

I got you.

SRTracer 12-15-2006 02:49 PM

I am not too familiar with Tupac's music, but one song I've always loved- especially musically, but lyrically as well, is Thugz Mansion (the acoustic version especially). I was wondering if anyone had anymore recommendations for me that would introduce me into similar Tupac songs. I'm just kinda looking to get more familiar with his material. Thanks in advance for any input or ideas.

ATM 12-15-2006 05:52 PM

Hm I'd pick up All Eyez On Me. It's a 2-cd album, and has a good range of the different types of styles Tupac does.

Get Me Against the World.

Eh I've always like that one because its the first one I got.
What a terrible opinion that is.

It also happens to be his so shut up.

And I can't see how it's terrible when All Eyez On Me has so many big tracks on it and rarely disapoints. I would definatly recommend this first as Me Against the World is his most personal and slower album, so if you don't even know much of his music in the first place you might wanna get All Eyez first to get his thug thing down then listen to his personal album and see another side of him.

Shorty Wanna Be A Thug and 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted can be found on All Eyez, and those are classics. Got My Mind Made Up is another one to check out off that as it collabs with Method and Redman as well as Daz and Kurupt and is a cool track.
