You should be able to find Reign In Blood at JB. Just get them to order it if they don't have it in.
yer i might do that. does it cost more?
The christian club who puts on the battle of the bands at school won't let us play the anti-christ because of the lyrics so I think we're playing crionics instead, any ideas to help be able to play the anti-christ?
Play something else instead. How about Disciple or Alter of Sacrifice :thumb:

I'm sure his churchy type people will appreciate the whole "Praise Hail Satan" bit.

On the big 4 tour type thing I just thought I'd mention that I saw the Clash of the Titans tour.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-27-2006 08:27 AM

That would have been a cracker.
yer i might do that. does it cost more?
No, I don't think so.

I take it hell awaits is out of the question.
Well then just play Jesus Saves.

(please excuse my dark sense of humor)

HAHAHA! Seriously it could work I mean he'll be singing so fast the people would barely understand him.

Crionics, would be good. Possibly Dead Skin Mask, or Epidemic, or At Dawn The Sleep. Yeah just do At Dawn The Sleep. DO IT!

lightningmetal666 01-30-2006 03:34 PM
Dude use your brain. It's run by church goers and the song is called anti christ... >.>

Ah now then.I ****ing love slayer.A great solid band all around.
Great drummer, solid bassist, amazing guitarist and bad *** singer.
I can't wait to see them live one day \m/
Yeah, but you're forgetting there are 2 guitarists and the bassist IS the singer. Also great is an understatement when it comes to Dave Lombardo's drumming.

I've talked to some good bass players that I know and they say singing while playing is a bitch because the bass is doing a counter melody to the vocal melody or something like that. That would mean that tom arraya is a pretty kick @$$ bass player because he can sing and play high tempo bass.

Bazarov 01-30-2006 03:37 PM

Tom also was finger picking all the way up to Reign in Blood. I suck at finger picking, and I'm pretty sure it'd be pretty hard to play that fast especially songs like Necrophiliac.

lightningmetal666 01-30-2006 03:44 PM
HAHAHA! Seriously it could work I mean he'll be singing so fast the people would barely understand him.
Hey, I'm just saying what I would play for these people.
The more I think about it the funnier it would be if he really did play hell awaits.
Crionics, would be good. Possibly Dead Skin Mask, or Epidemic, or At Dawn The Sleep. Yeah just do At Dawn The Sleep. DO IT!
Yep, they would just love it if he did a song about vampires.

For a serious response to this question play Metalstorm/face the slayer.
For another funny response you could try black magic, South of Heaven,
Divine Intervention, Disciple, God Send Death, New Faith, etc.

I think New Faith would be the best one. I like the powerful message behind it.

Seriously kid, this is a christian show and there is no way they would let good music like slayer play on their "sacred" stage.

Bazarov 01-30-2006 03:47 PM

I guess that's true. Though were I live there is a crappy venue called Ground Zero. On Sunday's it's a Christian youth center, but they still let bands like Jesus Fuck The Sun and other "evil" bands play there.

I haven't listened to much Slayer lately. I've been on a Megadeth binge for quite a bit for a few weeks.

Not really. I'm a bass player and I can play all those songs easily with my fingers.

Bazarov 01-30-2006 04:16 PM
Not really. I'm a bass player and I can play all those songs easily with my fingers.
Oh, well, I suck so I wouldn't really know how hard they are.

Britton 01-30-2006 04:31 PM

Wow it's been such a long time!

Anyhting new in the world of Slayer?

BLS_Infernus 01-30-2006 05:17 PM

about time this thread start to pickup.

Yeah man, Dave has to be the best drummer around in my book. I know there are more tech. sound and faster guys but his style is the best in my opinion. I'm so glad he's back.

Also Tommy Araya has nice vocals but he is a crappy bass player.

Bazarov 01-30-2006 05:18 PM

Just more of Kerry King's babbling of how the new CD is like an "extension" of God Hates Us All. But Dave is in the band, and maybe his drumming will effect how Kerry and Jeff put their riffage to the drumming. Hopefully there will be more Tom and Jeff lyrics and less of Kerry.

I guess they have 11 songs that are complete and like 3 or 2 more that are being rearanged and tweaked on.

BLS_Infernus 01-30-2006 05:21 PM

I thought it was all the songs were done but they have to put lyrics to it and 5 of them are done.

I hope Jeff puts out some good Lyrics on this one. He normally does a pretty nice job.

That could be. I only read the most recent one, once and like 3 weeks ago.

http://www.slayersaves.com/news.htm

There is the most recent interview.

lightningmetal666 01-30-2006 07:10 PM

In further news, Kerry King will be among the stars confirmed to attend the Hollywood's RockWalk induction of Black Label Society/Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde, set to take place at 7425 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, CA on Tuesday, January 17 at noon. The event is open for the public. Rob Zombie, Slash and Duff McKagan of Velvet Revolver, Robert Trujillo of Metallica, John 5 (Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie), baseball greats Mike Piazza and Scott Spiezio, wrestlers Steve Austin and Jericho, Vinnie Abbott and Rex Brown (ex-Pantera), Jerry Cantrell and Michael Inez (ex-Alice in Chains), and Jim Ladd are among the others who are expected to attend this event.

Very nice line-up to pay tribute to Zakk.

Kinda off topic, I still say that the best slayer song to play in a church lyrically would be New Faith.

I wanted to go, but I could not talk my dad into driving me up there.

I KEEP THE BIBLE IN A POOL OF BLOOD! SO THAT NONE OF IT'S LIES CAN EFFECT ME!

That has to be the best song lyrically on GHUA besides Disciple

hey check out these lyrics I wrote. I was listening to FTB while writing them and they have an almost doom metal feel to them.

I'll check it out. By FTB do you mean Fade to Black? I suck at critiquing.
I kind of liked Bloodline the best out of the whole album but Araya's vocals on that was so badass
Yes, Bloodline was one of the highlights of that album. Though my favorite song on GHUA is Disciple. I wonder if Kerry read the Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God speech when he wrote that song?

Yeah, that's what I meant. I was just asking if anything stood out to you.
I've gotta write a song for my songwriting class at the college, and I was wondering what other ppl thought of it before I submit it.
Yes, Bloodline was one of the highlights of that album.
Bloodline has some great lyrics to it, but the music video for it is what I liked the most. Very good surprise at the ending.

Bazarov 02-04-2006 10:22 PM

Can someone help me find the site of that guy who covers Slayer songs. It's somewhere in this thread.. but I'm to lazy to search through this, Google is sucking balls.

EDIT- I did some searching.. it paid off.

HazMan 02-05-2006 01:27 AM

I'm getting heavily into Show No Mercy. Its gives me such vivid images of death and evil through both the music and the lyrics. This band is awesome. I've had War At The Warfield for ages and revisted that the other day, its pretty good. Damn dvd skipped on War Ensemble, thats my favourite song by them i think, Seasons in the Abyss rates pretty highly too. I got really stoned and listened to it ages ago and saw tanks in my head and bombs being dropped. Man that was insane.

Bazarov 02-05-2006 01:39 AM

Yeah Show No Mercy kills. The Antichrist is my favorite song on that album.

Nostalgia 02-05-2006 01:42 AM

War ensemble is a great song, Butcher, ever get still reigning?

Bazarov 02-05-2006 01:44 AM
War ensemble is a great song, Butcher, ever get still reigning?
Yeah, for X-Mas I got a gift card for Best Buy. I made haste and got that DVD. I was slightly disappointed, the only flaw with that DVD is it's shortness.

GAAAAAAAAAAAA

I really want to see Slayer again. It's been over a year since I've seen them. And I need to see them again.

Though, I'm not enthusiastic about their new album as I was before. I'm pretty sure it's going to sound like drop B Slipknot inspired riffs/lyrics with Slayer solos.

Nostalgia 02-05-2006 01:46 AM

I know, that was bullshit, it had some awesome songs but it was damn short. The end was awesome when the blood just started pooring down. I wonder how hard it was for 'em to play with the instruments soaked in blood. Hmm... wonder what kind of blood it was, most likely chicken.

Bazarov 02-05-2006 01:49 AM

More like the blood of innocent virgins and poseurs!

Apocalyptic Raids 02-05-2006 01:49 AM

don't forget holy beings

Nostalgia 02-05-2006 01:55 AM

They had to get tons and tons of blood to be able to pull something off like that. Man that's a lot of people to kill.

Bazarov 02-05-2006 01:57 AM
They had to get tons and tons of blood to be able to pull something off like that. Man that's a lot of people to kill.

It was probably just theatrical blood. Or possibly kool-aid? I really have no idea what it is. I just like thinking that it is blood from poseurs, virgins, and holy beings.

Nostalgia 02-05-2006 02:00 AM

hahah, Kool-aid. That would be a bitch to get off the guitars and drums.

HazMan 02-05-2006 11:48 AM

The old tomato sauce trick.

Shout it Out 02-05-2006 02:32 PM

NP: Slayer - Die By The Sword
