I actually really enjoy Slipknot, but It's pisses me off when people try to say that Slipknot is an amazingly talented band. I haven't heard Stone Sour though.
EDIT: I meant that the two were Clown and Chris, not Clown and Shawn. Sorry about the bassists thing, I was thinking they had two for some reason. |
whilst i like slipknot, 1 thing that puts me off is their lack of personal hygene lol did you know joey pisses himself before a tour an dosent change underwear through the whole tour!!!!! man thats guys gotta stink, an hes suprisingly short for such a good drummer...an the whole throwin their sh1t into the crowd........right.........
|
well i dont know if you would like stone sour or not, maybe you would since you say you enjoy slipknot then you might like 'em. i know alot of people who listen to both slipknot and stone sour but they just arent for me.

YOUR ALL FOOLS!!! anyone who says that obviously has never LISTENED to any slipknot songs, pulse of the maggots for example, awesome song, with amazingly hard solo!!! and joey...o yea sure he sux...thats why he filled in for lars for metallica at the 2003 download festival!!! SLIPKNOT ARE AWESOME!!! :thumb:
If you're going to try to defend some worthless nu-metal band that tries to be edgy and fails miserably, try to use SOME grammar, dumbass. |
lol **** this thread is still alive??? i thought some one w/ some common sense would close it by now.
|
As promised I will now talk about Joey. Joey is an ok drummer. He does a good job at using his double bass pedal, but he nowhere nears the drumming of many other drummers.
Whose better? Seriously, my friend thinks Joey is god and I wanna know some people who beat him, technically that is. |

You were a member before this place was made? Sorry for the double post. |
mx was made on august 2000. one of my friends told me 2 come here and that was during november and after that ive been comin here ever since. i just never re-registered for one my computer crashed so i used my friends. thats why.
|
How does your computer crashing have to do with your account being lost.
|
and before i started coming here i went to tabmall.com and tabcrawler.com which i think are now the same website.
|
because when it crashed i had a month to check my account so it wouldnt go away well i never got the time to re-activate it because i had got a job and then i didnt have the time to go over to my friends house and check it. thats why i lost my account.

Slipknot needs some new happenings. This thread has gotten awfully repetitive and awfully stupid. Some douchebag comes in and says something negative, followed by half hearted retorts from some other people, which is soon followed by a lame discussion on whether Slipknot has talent or not.
The guys in Slipknot CAN play their instruments. The reason you dont see Paul do any MFKR stuff or you dont see Jim and Mick play ten of the most technical but most unmemorable guitar riffs per song is because Slipknot's credo is not built around being a technical band.Slipknot is about just writing simple tunes that are to the point and grab attention. They do just that.Vol.3 is filled with good song after good song.Anyone who denies that is obviously a fuckin dickhead. Another thing that has begun to annoy me is how you constantly have to remind yourself and others that Joey is not the greatest drummer in the world when you discuss him.Joey is a very good drummer, just leave it at that.No need for the "oh joey is good but hes not the best, there are so many way better than him" and yadda yadda yadda.Joey rules at the drums.Simple as that.I dont need to list off other drummers who are better or possibly better just to evade sounding like a little maggot fanboy. But who cares if I do. |

Their Subliminal Verses CD wasnt as heavy as Iowa or Self-titled cept for a few songs.

If you don't like the thread then don't post in it and call people douchebags for doing just that. Don't listen, the site was started in May of 2001. That guy's retarded. |
I knew it, his story didn't make any sence.
How can I say that and defend it, like this. All Mick and James do is is play the same chords over and over, with in similoar time. With the exception of some songs like Surfacing, and with the exception of there few solos. They have 4 members with almost no purpose, Clown and Shawn do nothing apart from a few backing vocals, and one drummer is enough. They also have that mixer who you can only hear on The Heretic Anthem and one or two other songs. They also have two bassists, WHAT THE FUCK? You can't even hear them except for maybe a few notes in some songs. I'll talk about Joey in the next paragraph.
As promised I will now talk about Joey. Joey is an ok drummer. He does a good job at using his double bass pedal, but he nowhere nears the drumming of many other drummers. He does have many great atributes, but he doesn't really show it in his drumming. Many times people have shown me the clip of him on the Disasterpieces DVD during his drum solo. He does the same thing over and over again, he does that very well, but he does not do reallly anthing else. I understand that he was flipped upside down, but he does not change what he is doing at all. I do like Slipknot, but to say that they are an extremely talented band is crazy. I do think that they have some talent, but simply do not show it in Slipknot. And if you want anyone to take you serious, then spell and punctuate correctly.
you are a f**khead. firstly shawn and clown is the same guy. secondly they only have ONE bassist. |

Some people are douchebags no doubt.
Joey is a great drummer. Nobody ever said he is the best, but they just have to point out, "But there are better drummers out there." NO SHIT YOU IDIOTS!!!! Most average drummers can't or have hard time playing joey's beats. And that doesn't mean there aren't drummer that can play his beats, because there are plenty of them obviously. They have 1 bassist as it's been pointed out. Somebody in this thread doesn't know shit about slipknot, but they are claiming as the band is untalented. How can you claim such a thing if you think they have 2 bassists? I agree with relliK about everything in his post.
If you don't like the thread then don't post in it and call people douchebags for doing just that.
He called people a douchebag because they claim slipknot is untalented, but yet they dont even know how many bassists/guitarists/drummers/vocalists they have.
IYou're an idiot. I know that they play not so technical songs, I was just saying that they don't play hard amazing riffs. Also, just so someone doesn't like Slipknot's music which a lot of people don't they are dickheads.
Why does a band have to play hard amazing riffs to sound good? Souding good has nothing to do with how hard or heavy riffs are.
Joey is an ok drummer. He is not amazing, or anywhere close to that. And I'm not a maggot fanboy, if I was then I would be saying how awesome Mick, Joey, Jim, and Paul, Chris, and Clown and the rest of the band were.
An Ok drummer is the one that is average. Find me an average drummer that can nail joey's beats perfectly and your statement will be somewhat true. If you are a drummer, haha, well let's see you do some slipknot's beats. |
^ i honestly question how much of joey's drumming was touched up in protools.
|
Not only is joey a great drummer ( not saying the best so dont chew me out,) but he can play guitar also.
|
^ i honestly question how much of joey's drumming was touched up in protools.
Not much as he can play his beats live also. If they touched it up in protools (or if that's what I Think it is) then he would have problems playing his own beats. If that's not what you meant, nevermind... |
i dont consider my self as a maggot , i do like about 15 songs of Slipknot
my dad and sister doesnt like em, and if my mom who is very religious(christian) would find out who they are then it would be funny, |
Wow, this thread is back from the dead.

Hey I recently borrowed IOWA from My friend, and had a listen to it,
Now What was good about the album is, the music is good, good guitar playing, the drummer and the percussionists are in time perfectly with each other, and the lyrics are good and the songs have meanings, What I Thought was bad about the album is THe bass can't be heard, so they might as well not have a bass player, most of the songs if not all of them start with a guitar intro. And the songs, I feel anyway would be a lot better if Corey didn't scream, Now this is all that I've heard of SlipKnot, apart form the album only duality and Vermillion 1 & 2. But after hearing all those songs, I realised that it couldn't all be like that , and that surely some of the albums have changed and the band have excelled or not, and whether they have got better or worse |
I've listen to self titled, iowa and vol3 and each has its good points.vol 3 is more melodic more use of solos and acoustic brought in for circle and vermilion pt2.iowa is more dark faster and the heaviest.the self titled has good balance prob best vocals wise imo
|
MFKR and Vol 3. are both brilliant albums.
Self titled and Iowa are less so. |
I always liked Iowa for its intensity.
