Through the glories of internet radio, I just heard a song by a band called Of Montreal. It was pretty good. Anybody know if they are worth looking into further?
There another band on the Elephant 6 label i think, or they at least have strong connections with E6 bands. Anyways, I think they're alright. Definately got some cool songs. Theres a funny one called "Wish You Were Born a Girl"

Little Man being Erased 11-28-2004 06:03 AM

I'm listening to a whole bunch of new songs I just scabbed off my brother's computer. My Red Cell, Modest Mouse, TV On the Radio, and heaps of other stuff.

Happymeal 11-28-2004 08:22 AM

I've been listening to the 3 songs on Jon Spencer Blues Explosion's page on Epitonic, as well as Antibalas.

I saw a Dirty Three album on Best Buy yesterday:eek:

So far today I've listened to:

Prefuse 73 - Vocal Studies + Uprock Narratives
Nick Drake - Pink Moon

Iris 11-28-2004 05:47 PM

Murder by Death, Elliott Smith, and Alexisonfire have been rocking my musical boat lately.

I concur with the WRM, they are excessively happy/poppy. To a fault. Their latest (Satanic Panic in the Attic) and their first (Cherry Peel) I'd say are definitely worth checking out, though. The Gay Parade, too, if you're feeling cheeky.

Edit: Oh, and their covers are great. :thumb:

Happymeal 11-28-2004 09:12 PM

Holy shit. I've been listening to !!! and other bands that sound like them for the past 30 minutes(on Epitonic.com). I think I've found my true love.

Well_Respected_Man 11-28-2004 09:34 PM

I reviewed their CD Louden Up Now in CD Reviews. Very good band.

GoGoGoAirheart and Pinback are my two discoveries for the day.

<3 the Pinback.

My computer's soundcard is on the fritz and the only stereo in the house is in the same room as the tv, which would disrupt daddy's channel surfing, so I've mostly been digging my own geetar playing lately. A bit of Galactic Cowboys and Beulah when I can squeeze in some stereo time.

Tangy zizzle 11-28-2004 11:36 PM

Afghan Whigs' Congregation is great.

The Blues Explosion. What can I say?

YDload 11-28-2004 11:38 PM

Hey, MTV2's "Subterranean" is playing Muse's video for "Hysteria" right now. That sure is some cool distorted bass playing right there!

Strangely enough, even though I've heard people talk about this band on and off ever since I've been on MX, this is the first time I've seen the video. And just last night, I heard the song on the radio too! It's all coming up at once, it seems.

How were they announced? As "Three exclamation points?"

Master Arkam Kannon 11-28-2004 11:52 PM

Chik Chik Chik is what they were called at the modest mouse show, but when i saw them solo they were called Pow Pow Pow. They can be called anything with one sylabel 3 times.

You don't listen to a lot of music do you?
You don't listen to a lot of music do you?
What are you talking about? Regardless of when their last album was released, Muse hasn't been very big in America. I was merely mentioning it because it was an instance when people were likely to be "diggin" the same song simultaneously, and I wondered if anyone had seen it previously. Assuming they lived in the UK or somewhere where Muse videos are shown more frequently.

Tangy zizzle 11-29-2004 12:53 AM

I don't follow.

Have you started buying CD's yet dude?

YDload 11-29-2004 12:58 AM

What do you care? You're just here to antagonize me in every post I make. Besides, I'm waiting for Christmas to get more music, now that I know how Amazon.com works.

Tangy zizzle 11-29-2004 01:11 AM

Easy on there sunshine.

I'm genuinely interested, ok?

Tangy zizzle 11-29-2004 02:34 AM

I'm still heavily diggin' The New What Next. Hot Water Music are a really tight band.

Tapeworm 11-29-2004 07:32 AM

My band made a tape and, in all honesty, I have been listening to it all day today.

Tomahawk 11-29-2004 09:27 AM

Been diggin some Beck and Eskimo Joe.

Also, I've been liking Bright Eyes' new song, Take It Easy. I really hated it a lot the first time I heard it, and I generally don't like Bright Eyes... but it keeps getting played on JJJ and it's grown on me.

My brain has been running a bit musically dry lately, been in a bit of a rut... but tomorrow I'm gonna spend big and get a bunch of CDs, to celebrate getting a new job. And the universe will then be in harmony.

asymm 11-29-2004 02:20 PM

i've become obsessive
Guided By Voices - "Earthquake Glue"

I just can't wait til Christmas till I get the "Hardcore UFOs" GbV box...
