And I find Healey better. I find he has more technical skill and is better at songwritting. We will leave it at a conflict of opinons.

Badmoon 07-26-2004 01:38 PM

For all you know, I could have said, "No that's wrong! Healy > all. But you got to jump the gun, right?

EDIT: Fine

BludgeonySteve 07-26-2004 01:40 PM

Indeed. Sorry about making the assumption.
what's the lineup?

and

is jeff beck dead?
no jeff beck is not dead, he plays on a song on the album. they also have people like slash, satriani, jeff baxter, john reznick, and many more playing on the album. These are just guests on some songs though. They added a new lead guitarist to take the place of clapton, page, and beck, and he seems to be up to the task believe it or not. And they needed a new singer cuz their old singer/harmonica person died. But the new person they have on harmonica is GOD. His solos sound like an electric guitar solo complete with distortion and stuff...

magicbus 07-26-2004 03:59 PM
Deep Purple - Woman from Tokyo... playing along to it with my guitar. Man i love jsut sitting in front of my comp and listeing to CR songs and improvising solos and stuff to them, alot of them rely on quite a few of the same 'type' of notes and all, anyone else do this?

DVG.
Man I pulled out the Cream yesterday and did that for hours, mostly over strange brew and born under a bad sign. That is some inspirational stuff. I love improvising.

RockAndRoll 07-26-2004 06:59 PM
all ages venue. then next week i'm seeing peter frampton. He'll play two songs that everyone will love and no1 will care about the rest of the show. but i'm totally psyched.
poor man. the frampton tickets for me are only $20 a person!!

BludgeonySteve 07-26-2004 08:12 PM

is that what frampton's worth these days? Kids...

magicbus 07-26-2004 08:14 PM

Make sure he makes his guitar talk! Also this thread was slipping off page 1 again..

magicbus 07-26-2004 08:16 PM

Also my friend went to a Grateful Dead concert and said he met a bunch of people who were 100% insane. Like this guy named "papa bear" sat by them and gave out pancakes. And he said the solos were crazy long ones. So, yep.

BludgeonySteve 07-26-2004 08:16 PM

 oh no slipping off the first page . It goes off the first page in 2 minutes sometimes. There are too many stickied threads and too many bad threads being made. Don't be afraid to bump it off the 4th pages cause that only means it hasen't got posted in for an hour.

Grateful dead fans are exesive lsd and pot users. I wouldn't be surprised. Great band though. They have some of the best concerts ever.

well it's at an outdoor venue that traditionally only charges $20 for the lawn seating...

Hey Mr. Light Man 07-26-2004 08:29 PM

The Doors (my second alltime favorite band), Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Velvet Underground, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis (sort of Classic Rock), Black Sabbath (also very iffy), CCR (Don't listen to much though, sadly), Grateful Dead (same deal, I dont have enough Dead), etc.

Oh, yeah, I'm one of those teenagers who likes it, for the record, I am 13.

Nova12 07-26-2004 08:30 PM

I cannot get over Rush. They are ultimately my favourite band in all of music. I listen to all of Classic Rock really. All the old stuff is coming back and I am one of them.

So I hear. Wish I could've gone too.

B0nz0 07-26-2004 08:32 PM

i love it when ppl like this put in off topic posts after reading only the first post in an 85 page thread. they could at least bother reading the last half page so they say something relevant. geez

so are there any sly stone fans here?

Yeah we just kinda have half a page discussions in this thread. They would join in or something.

Sadly i've never heard of sly stone. :( Whoever they are. Could you list some songs by them or albums?

B0nz0 07-26-2004 08:57 PM

Sly and the Family Stone is their full names. Sadly all i have is a compilation album, but they are quite upbeat rock, laced with funk and soul. They performed at Woodstock, and therefore definately qualify as classic rock. Sly Stone himself overdosed shortly after.
They are best known for the song "Everyday People" which you may know from Toyota commercials.
Other great songs include "Dance to the Music," "I Wanna Take You Higher," "Everybody is a Star," "You Can Make it if you Try," "Hot Fun in the Summer Time," "It's a Family Affair," and many many more.

My personal Favorite though it "thank you (falletinme be mice elf agin)", pronounced thank you for letting me be myself again. if u like these i can give u more....

VoodooChild 07-26-2004 09:00 PM

So, I guess no one likes War. :upset: They're a good band!!! Check them out.

Richie is better than Jeff but not by much. But Jeff is blind so it's still amazing how he can play guitar.

B0nz0 07-26-2004 09:07 PM

i only know one war song. but it kicks ***. and it has a cow bell. and it's called "low rider"!

BludgeonySteve 07-26-2004 09:08 PM

:( Blindness must count for something. Ah whatever.

Nice explanation of sly stone bonzo.

SKAGUITARIST 07-26-2004 09:10 PM
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?

o and for u classic rock fans, the crime of the new century was that the Yardbirds new CD, Birdland, recieved no attention at all. that deserved a grammy, or 6.

so are there any other classic rock fans out there, and even if ur not, have u been noticing somewhat of a revival in interest for that sort of music?
CLASSIC ROCK IS THE REALL ROCK , it puts these crappy metal bands that just scream through a song to shame

LONG LIVE ROCK

Badmoon 07-26-2004 09:10 PM

I bought Gov't Mule - self titled today :)

Dead Or Alive 07-26-2004 09:15 PM

BludgeonySteve 07-26-2004 09:19 PM

B0nz0 07-26-2004 09:35 PM

my dad doesn't like ac/dc either

i don't like kiss, nor does my dad.

RockAndRoll 07-26-2004 09:41 PM
poor man. the frampton tickets for me are only $20 a person!!
Hmm that's pretty cheap, I should check how much they are here, but i'm pretty broke right now, I've only got 31$, it's all in my account too. Even though today I made 120$ that's all gone to my band.

RockAndRoll 07-26-2004 09:41 PM
WAR!

Details please :D

BludgeonySteve 07-26-2004 09:42 PM
u have a lucky friend. how did he manage that?
War's either really crappy (probably not, I haven't heard anything by them) or his friend is very very good.

BillCosby 07-26-2004 09:43 PM
u have a lucky friend. how did he manage that?
He a really good drummer, goes to special school and everything.

He plays in his Dad's blues band and they have been playing the venue for a long time now and so when War came to town they got the opening spot.

EDIT: he's 15 and he's always introduced as Nathan "the Future" Von Trotha

B0nz0 07-26-2004 09:47 PM

i wish i was ur friend

BludgeonySteve 07-26-2004 10:02 PM

 My friend says that Bob Dylan wrote house of the rising sun. But I'm not completely sure of that. Does anybody know?

Badmoon 07-26-2004 10:17 PM

I'm pretty sure it's a traditional piece. So, no one's sure who exactly wrote it.

BludgeonySteve 07-26-2004 10:19 PM

Then i'm claiming it as my own!

*runs away like a madman* hahahaha first I have to kill Bob Dylan and the remaining members of the animals! Moon, who else covered it? I have to kill them all.

Badmoon 07-26-2004 10:20 PM

hahaha

Jerry Garcia and David Grisman.

BludgeonySteve 07-26-2004 10:33 PM

Really? Jerry garcia? Maybe i'll just kidnap him and keep him in my basement. Same with bob dylan. I can make them perform for me :)
